pluma seems to behave like any other gtk application I use as well as
the old gedit. glad i finally found a solution to this inconsistency.
Also, the current gedit version handles the mosue differntly than
Altough i am a veteran on unix like systems, some sort of first
directions would be very helpfull (something like `man afterboot` in
OpenBSD).
This broken help page sure turns away novice linux users. It leaves the
feeling of unprofessionallity. Not much work to fix, big effect on

I am the original reporter of Bug #48876. It has been fixed and now it's
there again. I guess it is caused by sloppy shell scripting in xinit and
the such.

ok, this is on edgy and not on every installation. i could locate where
the problem is. If the File Browser Pane plugin is installed and
activated, gedit will check some files fom the recently used files list
(also remote files) on start up, thus delaying it badly.
enabling the plugin turns gedit
