I'm probably experiencing the same bug, although it happens right after
login. I can't click on windows and keyboard doesn't do anything. It can
take minutes until gnome starts working. Really annoying.

Update:
Looks like there was issue with dpkg database. Anyway this is a serious
bug in gnome software as no error message is given and no graphical way
to recover from the situation.

I think this is back in up to date 18.04:
1. Download deb (visual studio code in this case)
2. Open the file (via Firefox)
3. Gnome software starts and shows the package, click Install
4. Sudo password is asked and it says Installing
5. Goto 3. The package is not installed and no errors given.
Tested by disabling ipod plugin in Rhythmbox -> no freeze.
Looks like the bug is in libgpod, not Rhythmbox.

Removing the settings wouldn't help as the process is not stopped when
the package is removed. The bug most probably still exists in 17.10 and
future releases unless it has been fixed upstream.

After upgrading to 16.10 layout resets to English after every boot.

I just installed Ubuntu 14.10 and Cinnamon desktop. Cinnamon fails
(another issue) and starts Gnome-flashback as a fallback desktop.
The default Gnome has only Applications and Places menu and no way to
log out or restart the computer.
Workaround is to start a terminal and

currently it is not. This is not a bug but bad default configuration.
Perhaps it would be a solution if gnome-session-flashback would depend

I think i can confirm this. I'm updating a large collection mounted on a sftp
share. Importing
progresses quite long, but after a while (1 hour or so ) ui becomes

Looks like i just encountered this issue. I have a sftp host which was
unaccessible for some time (ssh connection just hangs). The host started
working but I was wondering why the computer felt slow. This is the

I'm getting this or similiar error on Mint Nadia. On every login gtk
theme crashes and .xsession-error contains:

which stopped working.
I was able to get rid of the click on misbehaving app dialog after
killing metacity and gnome-panel. After this keyboard didn't respond any
more so i was forced to restart X.

drivers. Reseting totem settings to defaults seemed to fix the problem,

In Ubuntu Jaunty opening a .m3u file with Firefox only offers it to be
opened with Totem. I think Rhythmbox would be much better default action
for .m3u files.
Currently user must manually choose to open with other application and
search the

This bug occurs randomly but often when browsing files and directories
in List View.
Double-clicking a directory opens other directory than which was clicked
(opening here means
showing its subdirectories in list view, not changing to that directory). It

I have three calendars set up: Personal, trips, and recurring stuff. If
i disable the recurring events calendar from top left calendars area
the crash doesn't happen. If i enable it, evolution crashes. This can be
repeated.

In what package the orbit dbgsym's are?
This is reproducible every time - also by changing month by arrow keys
or clicking on a day in another month. This makes the calendar unusable
for now, so i hope a fix or a workaround is found quickly. I'll try with
another user later. EDS also crashes.

Could Per's patch be included in Ubuntu version of Rhythmbox? I think
it's really weird that Ubuntu's default desktop's default music player
can have showstopper bugs like this.

I'm not 100% sure what this change does as i haven't studied the source
code more deeply. After the change RB seems to be running just fine
though.
Everyone should understand that my fix just disables the error dialog,
not the original bug that causes it.

I got too annoyed because of this not being fixed and did a quick hack
for myself.
I commented out the line 320 in metadata/rb-metadata-dbus-client.c:
