The reason a folder is being copied is because the DND action is set to
copy. Normal launchers work find because the .desktop file is copied.
However the Places menu items don't work as they are not .desktop files.

On the upstream bug report, many of the people were saying they wanted
it in Pictures/Photos as users may want to keep backgrounds etc.

I think the bets way to go forward is to by default have the
'Collection' button in the toolbar, this way it is very easy to
activate.

The current status of this in karmic is that F-Spot now allows you to
select the photos folder in the preferences dialog, however it is
currently set to the home directory by default (which is worse than the
photos folder :-] ).

As regards to the debate, the user WILL knw where their downloads are,
Firefox by default will go to the Downloads folder, but the user can
also select another location in the file chooser if they wish. They can

This does most certainly *does* have a win.
When a new user uses the LiveCD, most often they look through all the
menus first, when they see an ugly icon like the one on gnome-pilot, it
makes Ubuntu itself look lagging behind, like things haven't been

I am going to have to disagree with you there Sebastian. I feel as
though these icons should not be packaged in the icon theme.
gconf-editor is the only application to use these icons, and so
unnecessary ones should not be included in the icon theme. I believe
