did linux got upgraded? could you try booting the previous version in
the grub list?

the boot menu displayed, take an old linux version in that list

Hi we replicated the problem with the sound today.
I took the Netbook into the dealer and they reinstalled the Ubuntu from
the recovery disk supplied with the Netbook. The sound worked well. We
tested it at their facilities and I tested it at home.
