Now the matroska is supported for me with vobsub and .srt. However, the
vobsub aren't displayed (only sometimes green artifacts on the top) with
matroska in the lucid version. When I user an ISO, vobsub works very
well.

This happens to me as well. In addition, mplayer will show subtitles by
default, which it should not do, so presumably the bug is in some
underlying codec library. However, in mplayer I can turn them off by
hitting 'v'.

Surely this is at least medium? It makes watching matroska files with
more than one soundtrack, or with subtitles, impossible... That's a LOT
of unplayable video... :(

I can confirm this -- I have a .mkv video with vobsub subtitles
included; mplayer for example lets me select whether or not to show the
subtitles, while totem just always shows the subtitles.

It should also be noted that subtitles are not actually selectable from
the subtitle menu. Totem simply shows there being no subtitles despite
displaying them. This means the user cannot turn them off or change
language.
The video I am testing this with has also been tried in VLC where
everything
