Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. A new version of Nautilus is available on Maverick and we
are wondering if this bug is still an issue for you with that version?
Could you please test and comment back? Thanks in advance.

it's better out of the fact that it does exit and not crash there...

You
did you read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Backtrace on how to get a
stacktrace on running software? the code you are using wouldn't work
there since nautilus is runnning and you start a new one which detects
that one is running and doesn't nothing

https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/569672
You received this bug
how did you get the stacktrace? you probably want to attach gdb to the
running nautilus instance, if you try to start a new one it will detect
there is one running and exit on start

Nautilus crashes when you drag any file or folder on the external monitor
I followed the instructions on the link you sent me.
I tried two things.
1. I launched nautilus from inside GDB.
2. I attached the GDB to a running instance.
The results were the same.
I also tried running the script at the bottom of the page describing gdb
usage. This is the log file it
could you describe the gdb command you started there?
