We will consider the patch for a backport if that start being a problem
for many users, which is not the case at the moment, you are the only
one to have opened a bug about that

The bug report I've filled is against dapper version of gaim
(1:1.5.0+1.5.1cvs20051015-1ubuntu10) which I'm using right now - never
updated to edgy or feisty... probably the cvs version taken already had
that feature, maybe incomplete..

you never give a try to a gaim 2.0 package or non official build? We
don't support issues due to the use of non-official version

Eh, no.. I tried edgy (dist-upgrade from dapper) but I never arrived at
the desktop, due to 3dfx bug and over issues.. so I decided to stay with
dapper (format reinstall). The log was recorded before, anyway.. with
the official gaim version of dapper. It seems that gaim save log with
this name
Thank you for pointing that. The gaim 2.0beta5 package from feisty
already use a =, marking as fixed
** Changed in: gaim (Ubuntu)

dapper uses gaim 1.5 and according to the bug that's a gaim 2.0 problem,
are you sure it applies to dapper?

Sebastien, the problem is that Gaim 1.5.0 checks that the length of the
date is exactly X (whatever X is, I don't remember). Gaim 2.0.0 names
log files with a longer name. So, Gaim 1.5.0 can't read logs written by
2.0.0 without the change. The patch I attached before makes Gaim 1.5.0
forwards
Such files are created by Gaim 2.0.0.
Sebastien, I'm attaching the patch necessary to make these work. I
personally have no idea if Dapper's gaim package includes this or not. I
thought it would, given that Debian has it (or so I thought).
