I happened to reboot this weekend and had a shock. What I ended up
doing was just downgrading to Gnome 2.14. It seems to be a problem with
the GConf schemas but I just decided to downgrade everything and wait
until someone else fixed it.

I can also confirm this. Now, this is breaking hubackup's ability to
detect target devices for backups properly. Should I workaround it by
rewriting the detection code , or is it going to get fixed ? AFAICS this
has to be fixed since just working around this will turn out ot be a
hack, while the
setting to high as this breaks a range of programs relying on HAL to
detect media changes and optical devices.

I've noticed that if I change totem_config to use opengl as the video
driver, I can't reproduce this bug. However, if I use OpenGL, the
playback is not as smooth, so I can't win, can I? Are there any other
video drivers besides OpenGL and XV?

I've realized that the bubble shows with wrong dimensions when the tray
icon area (the area where the notification icon appears) has more icons
than usual.
For example, in this screenshot I show my desktop with the following
applications opened: aMSN, X-Chat, aMule. Their respective icons appears
I have the same problem in Ubuntu Dapper. When I put a blank cd in the
writer, desktop icon and nautilus burning dialog appear for just a few
seconds, and then is like the writer was empty.

Hi there, can you please ensure that you have the dapper-updates
repositary enabled and do an 'apt-get get update'.
Aptitude also has better dependancy resolution, can you please try the
suggested to:
sudo aptitude install libsdl1.2-dev
and see if that copes better with updating the required

I suspect) that you can use with the 'splash' argument in grub. As far
as I know, you will have to configure them independantly.

Ok, I upgraded back to Gnome 2.15 and used the fix in the link:
$ sudo gconf-schemas --register /usr/share/gconf/schemas/*.schemas
This should probably be added to the gconf2.postinst to end further
confusion.

Some TrueType fonts include a _Sample Text attribute which represents a
string which can be used to displays the font in an effective manner.
Currently the following string is always used:

But when the '_Sample Text'
I thought that the _Sample Text attribute is often specified as the name
of the font. In which case TQBFJOTLD is a superior phrase to
demonstrate it.

Once a contact has been changed from Other to e.g. Home is saved, and
afterwards again edited and changed back to Other. It wil display, although
the address type is now Other.

Is this still a problem for both of you? Can you please post the full
error here. thomas your problem seems like it might be different than
Sebastian's as he can burn with gnomebaker. I also dont think bonfire
uses cdrecord but thats why im asking for the errors if it is still a
