Re:[Bug 45363] Re: Ubuntu Dapper Splash Screen doubled (Ubuntu-slick.png)

2006-10-17 Thread Zer0
I think this report is too old and probably when I was using Ubuntu 5.10.
Actually I use Ubuntu 6.06 LTS and the problem stills, but it's not in relation
to the splash screen, but to the visualization of pages during browsing in the
net. Every time windows are mixed: the left part comes to the right and mixes
labels and others, so it is almost impossible reading pages. I was thinking
about the old video card, but as it uses 32 MBvram and is an AGP, this
shouldn't be... I would try to recompile xorg, but last time I did it,
everything freezed, so I have to ask to you: do you have any suggestion to this?
Thank you for your help.
With regards: Gogo

[Bug 62139] Re: gdm hangs altogether after timeout on the gdm socket

Hello, the bug was very likely identified as a duplicate of
GNOME#352838. (http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=352838). This
patch fixed the problem for the reporter of that bug:
http://cvs.gnome.org/viewcvs/gdm2/daemon/gdm.c?r1=1.260r2=1.260.2.1makepatch=1diff_format=u

Please apply it to dapper-updates or dapper-security (since it may cause
data loss) as soon as it is feasible.

Thank you for your work on that. That's not a security issue so it'll

patch and can you confirm it fixes the issue? The new policy about
uploades to stable-updates is rather strict and having testing would be
better than a very likely supposition

[Bug 66385] Re: Gaim pops up many popups for the same error

2006-10-17 Thread Sven Herzberg
Honestly, I don't want to think about what kind of error this is. I
either expect one of these two behaviors:

1. As long as the dialog is open (which might be required for debugging
or getting support), gaim doesn't try to automatically connect (as there
is a connect button that doesn't even get insensitive if the second
connection attempt succeeds).

2. If a second error occurs (on the same account), add it (together with
a timestamp) to the dialog; well, at least if the error is different.

Reason: I don't want to think in terms of connections (in which case
you're absolutely right); I just think about accounts - the core
question of IM is whether or not an account is online, not how many
connections failed.

[Bug 64868] Re: MSN intext-images are not displayed

2006-10-17 Thread Arne Modersohn
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 38235 ***

sorry, dont have any MSN Contacts online at the moment, I will take a
screenshot and put it here soon.

This bug is not a dublicate of any of the bugs mentioned. The latest
MSN-Messenger can replace parts of the text the users entered with
images. Those images will then be transferred to the other client. Often
you see this with words like Hello, or lol. The images mostely
contain the text with some kind of animation or artwork around it. I
believe that originally the feature was ment to let users create own
smilies. However, those images are not displayed in the actual version
of Gaim in edgy. They were displayed in dapper.

So the bug is not in sending an image, but in recieving one!

This is a problem because some people I know have very many replaces
set, so you can't read their texts any more.

[Bug 62139] Re: gdm hangs altogether after timeout on the gdm socket

2006-10-17 Thread Václav Šmilauer
Very likely means that it segfaults on the same line as the other
bugreport says and the cause is a rather obvious possibly NULL pointer
that was not handled in the previous version. I will confirm the
functionality if it doesn't crash in a few days (production system).

Where can I track the backport task? It was not able to find it at
launchpad. Thanks.

[Bug 62139] Re: gdm hangs altogether after timeout on the gdm socket

2006-10-17 Thread Václav Šmilauer
Back once again. I just checked if the patch applies against the exact
dapper version and found out that I was accidentally working with the
edgy source as the patch did not make any sense there. Of course, the
gdm that was installed was (accidentally) from early edgy as well
(despite /etc/apt/preferences - maybe it was pulled by some
dependency?). I am so ashamed.

Hence no backport will be necessary and this while bug may be just
marked as invalid. Nice try, though.

Did anybody already forward this upstream?
For me, this is quite a grave bug and I'd like to get it fixed.

[Bug 66593] volume-applet icon gets resized by Tango and Tangerine icon-themes

2006-10-17 Thread Martin Jormedal
Public bug reported:

The icon for the volume-applet becomes scaled-up when using the Tango or
Tangerine icon-themes but stays small with all other themes.
A bit unrelated but there really should be an option for the deafult icon size
on a panel thats unrelated to the actual size of the panel itself.

[Bug 62062] Re: Multimedia System Selector: Video input test doesn't work correctly but my webcam works

2006-10-17 Thread jisaac
Ok. Sorry for the 2 issues at the same time.

About the input preview:

- Version of Ubuntu: I have the same problem in the up to date Dapper
6.06.1 version and the up to date Edgy Beta version (6.10).

- videosink to the multimedia selector and input device:

Default Output Plugin - Output: Autodetect
   - Pipeline: autovideosink

Default Input Plugin - Input: Video for Linux (v4l)
- Pipeline: v4lsrc

I tried to change the values but in vain. I only get a little back
window.

Let me know if I answer you or if you need more information.

Regards.

2006-10-17 Thread Leonardo Santagada
Stephen McClain told me to do it... what he is reporting is the same bug
as mine... there you will find more information, my configuration and
log files and a way to partialy fix it. The problem aparently is not
with the configuration, but something about the booting up of the
system. Can you please take a look at my bug?

2006-10-17 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks for your bug. Could you get a backtrace with nautilus-dbg and
libgtk2.0-0-dbg installed?
From a command line:
- gnome-session-remove nautilus
- gdb nautilus
(gdb) run
... crash
(gdb) thread apply all bt

Copy that and the messages you get on the command line to a comment

[Bug 66461] Re: edgy: places-network servers error

2006-10-17 Thread Emmanuel Touzery
it seems almost the same problem as:
https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/11574

/desktop/gnome/url-handlers/ftp is MISSING.
same for sftp. i also don't see smb for instance.

i definitely did not touch that myself. something did that... it came
with ubuntu, so other people might be affected. as i said, it worked
fine on dapper so i guess it was broken by the upgrade dapper-edgy or
something after that.

[Bug 45633] Re: Evolution eats up all system memory when recursing into imap directory tree.

2006-10-17 Thread Shaun Crampton
I find evolution eats all my RAM if I leave it unattended for several
(~8) hours and return. Any idea if it's the same bug? Is there a
workaround? I have 1GB RAM and at least 1GB of swap so can usually shut
down evolution (even if it takes 10 minutes to drop to a terminal).

I have 'imap', 'pop' and 'maildir' accounts (no imap4).

I've probably got 20+ files in my home folder.
