Start KDE, then start Compiz. Everything should be fine.
Now logout from KDE, and login with the same user, and set the KDEWM

I installed using Gutsy beta i386 alternative CD on a desktop computer,
the gnome power manager is not started in System - Preferences -
Sessions dialog after installation.
Enable the power manager in the Session dialog fixes the long delay.

Sorry for confirming it, I misread the original post. In Evolution, my
Google Calendar events show up OK, but in the time applet in gnome my
events show up with -3h. It used to work OK in Feisty, now using Gutsy
beta, so this is a regression.
