I just did a check with Totem in Hardy, and I can still reproduce the
behavior. Streaming a movie through the network did work, even scrolling
through the movie with the mousewheel. But placing the glider halfway by
dragging, the movie stops playing. I get about two screen-refreshes per

This was a pain in the arse by the way, just so you know! :P
I replaced /usr/lib/gvfs/gvfsd-ftp with a script, and moved the binary
to gvfsd-ftp.real.
Script was just:
#/bin/sh
G_SLICE=always-malloc G_DEBUG=gc-friendly valgrind -v --tool=memcheck
--leak-check=full --num-callers=40
I'm not sure if I can get this to crash the same way, consistently, BTW.
Sometimes I can get as far as opening the /mirrors folder, others it just
dies as soon as I've logged in anonymously.

my wallpaper via gnome or any other means. The only time it now changes is
when I start the session.
If I clear show_desktop and log out, I can change my wallpaper. At least in my

When, say, a HDD spins down to sleep and you try to access it via
Nautilus, Nautilus will block until the disk spins up and responds.
I think this may be because the GIO use is both synchronous and in-
process for local file accesses. I think

Nautilus UI
As previously mentioned, it's not nothing happens. It's accepting
input, but hiding it. Just type the password and hit return.

Also happens to me, both when mounting through Nautilus and gvfs-mount,
the link that appears on the Desktop and the mounted folder at ~/.gvfs
is invariably the remote root. This is just a nuisance with my local
MythTV server, but some servers do not allow access to root, so this
