[Bug 327082] Re: Totem crashes on loading files

Thank you for this bug report. This bug report does seem to be related
to the upstream bug report you mentioned. The duplicate bugs also seem
similar. I have forwarded your information to them. I am also putting
a watch on that bug report. Thanks again.

[Bug 273142] Re: screensaver won't release with mouse movement

2009-02-09 Thread rhavenn
Installed xubuntu 8.10 on my laptop over the weekend and it has the same
issue. Mouse movement alone doesn't keep the screen saver from
activating and once activated the screen saver won't turn off with mouse
movement either. Once the monitor shuts itself off then mouse movement
will bring it back.

xubuntu 8.10 fully patched - 2.6.27-11-generic
nvidia vid card using repo drivers version 177; compositing is enabled in
xorg.conf, but not xubuntu
single laptop monitor

[Bug 326607] Re: Volume capplet gone from notification area

2009-02-09 Thread Dean Loros
Sebastien--I thought I was clear enough--There now is no way to change
the default sound theme or default alert volume other than thru gconf.
The capplet had a button to enable that control panel--before it, you
could just goto gnome-control-centre and use the control panel. It has
been removed.

Discussion on this topic is at:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1062561

The crux of the problem is that when you removed the capplet, it caused
more than just the capplet to leaveavailability to easy access of
the control panel was removed also.

[Bug 299112] Re: VNC Very Slow after Intrepid Upgrade

2009-02-09 Thread Chris Carlin
Sebastien, your excuses for imperfect software weren't exactly (and
continue to not be) constructive in the first place. Right: there are
bugs here. Right: perfect software is impossible, especially with too
few resources. But so what? Accept the flaw and deal; the development
problems at Ubuntu aren't any of our business. The buck stops at Ubuntu,
and if that means volunteers are to blame then so be it.

In any case, bugzilla.gnome.org already has the bug report, though I
don't have the bug number immediately at hand. They believe it has
something to do with passing too many mouse events, I believe, though
last I checked there was no solid proposed solution.

With regard to Ubuntu, it's entirely legitimate to report the bug here
as well as it may be possible for Ubuntu to roll back to the previous
release of Vino since this one is unusable. At the very least, a user
might not know that bugzilla.gnome.org was the proper place to report
bugs in Vino... lord knows I had a little trouble looking for a homepage
for the project.

[Bug 191889] Re: [MASTER] [WORKAROUND] Offline Mode feature fails to detect proper online state for networks that are managed outside of network manager.

2009-02-09 Thread aenertia
I have this issue, it appears to be caused by Network manager not being
able to cope with previously defined debian interface files.

I saw this for the first time when upgrading/installing via net-
installer to jaunty. lspci, lshal and nm-tool info attached . my
/etc/network/interfaces is just auto eth0 etc defaults as created by
deb-installer.

Only weird thing about my network is that I run ipv6 along side .( which
on a side note the deb-installer does not support)

[Bug 327153] [NEW] Brasero does not make the DVD to copy shown

2009-02-09 Thread Luca Scaldaferro
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: brasero

Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 - 64 bit
Brasero 0.9.1

Choosing the Disc copy option from the disc, directly, Brasero opens a
window, giving the chance to copy the original disc with the same
player/burning device, by inserting the blank one, after reading the
original one and it works. Instead, this does not happen through the
button Disc copy in Brasero: the possibility to insert a new disc is
not shown. You can choose either the same original disc (impossible to
perform) or an image file. This have been occurring after installing the
last available update, just some days ago.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10
ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/brasero
NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia
Package: brasero 0.9.1-0ubuntu2~intrepid1

 PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games

[Bug 326955] Re: restart not working

2009-02-09 Thread Chris Coulson
I'm not entirely sure why you think this is a bug in Yelp, so I'm
removing that task again.

Anyway, thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to
make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we can't fix it because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read How to report bugs effectively
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

[Bug 299112] Re: VNC Very Slow after Intrepid Upgrade

2009-02-09 Thread Andy
Sebastien this is not My bug. This bug shows up on every installation
of Ubuntu that I do for people. No matter the hardware. If i knew how
to program then i would fix it myself god knows i would volunteer to
test user facing features before release and fix all of them if I knew
how to do that. What i try to do to help is first spread Ubuntu (157
users so far) and second report bugs here. Why wait for upstream to fix
bugs? Can't they be fixed downstream? Would that not be a good value
add to Ubuntu if they fix the obvious bugs instead of waiting for
upstream and a whole new version to upgrade to? I have tried different
windows clients, and Mac clients along with clients on Ubuntu and
PClinuxOS none of them work. If I install hardy then it works but only
IPV6 out of the box. What gives? Can you try verify this bug and see
if you can duplicate it. I have no problems doing so. Just install a
plain vanilla version of Intrepid then enable remote desktop then try to
connect to it with a 54MBS wireless connection. See what happens. Try
it even with a DSL Cable connection. See what happens. As it stand
right now Ubuntu does not have any viable remote desktop feature out of
the box. That is sad in these times. Unfortunately this is a bug of
anyone that uses VNC. This is not just My bug. So i ask you. What
else can I do to be constructive so that you and your team can fix this
bug in a timely fashion? I am at your command.

[Bug 327200] [NEW] hang before file transfert. nokia through bluetooth

2009-02-09 Thread Nicolò Chieffo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gvfs

Jaunty

gvfs 1.1.5-0ubuntu1
obex-data-server 0.4.3-0ubuntu1

Don't know if the problem is in gvfs, or obex-data-server.

When I browse my nokia 6630 using bluetooth everything is just fine
except if I try to open a file, or copy/paste it to your desktop. (also
using cp from a aterminal)

After that nothing is available (also using ls .gvfs gives an error:
ls: cannot access Nokia 6630: Input/output error) and I have to
reconnect.

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
Package: gvfs 1.1.5-0ubuntu1

 LANG=it_IT.UTF-8

and a terminal)

@register88: You ned help in a forum or mailing list to configure the

intrepid files in use. Perhaps you need to manually update
/etc/apt/sources.list . This is not the correct place to be asking how

[Bug 326258] Re: gconf-editor - Ugly Key Type Icons

2009-02-09 Thread rugby471
This does most certainly *does* have a win.

When a new user uses the LiveCD, most often they look through all the
menus first, when they see an ugly icon like the one on gnome-pilot, it
makes Ubuntu itself look lagging behind, like things haven't been
updated. Also it makes it look unprofessional, have really out of the
place icons.

The patch that I have given, makes the menu icon use the generic scanner
icon from the current gtk icon theme or fall back on the gnome-icon-
theme.

This has the advantage of given the 'PDA Devices' menu entry looking in
place (ie. tango icon styled) and not look outdated. Also, if the user
then changes the icon theme, this changes accordingly, if the icon theme
has a scanner icon.

Although ideally, we should also change the application icons (ie. the
ones that the software uses for about dialog etc.), this is a first step
towards replacing them.

[Bug 326258] Re: gconf-editor - Ugly Key Type Icons

2009-02-09 Thread rugby471
Ignore all above!!!

I am going to have to disagree with you there Sebastian. I feel as
though these icons should not be packaged in the icon theme.

gconf-editor is the only application to use these icons, and so
unnecessary ones should not be included in the icon theme. I believe
that is why gconf-editor did this in the past, and why it still does it,
therefore I have replaced them with tango-style icons, just as all gnome
programs are trying to do with their icons.

I shall try and speak to you and then resolve whether this should be
subscribed.
