[Bug 331456] Re: Remote Desktop Viewer does not fully go fullscreen

2009-04-19 Thread Andrey Melentyev
I'm not sure if its the same issue, but full screen mode in vinagre
doesn't work well in my case too. I have some space on the top of the
screen, I think that it has the same size as my top Gnome panel on host
machine.

I'm running Jaunty with latest updates on both computers.

Please see the screenshot from the host machine.

2009-04-19 Thread David Egan Evans

This does not appear to be the same issue as #354792.

After an upgrade to 9.04 on a Lenovo T61p, I am unable to lock the

This occurs with the non-free Nvidia driver (180.44), and also with the

Re: [Bug 363652] Re: Totem Movie Player crashes when going to full screen

2009-04-19 Thread Dan Holliday
Hi there

Its a nvidia GeForce 6600 GT, and I'm using the Ubuntu restricted nvidia
driver called NVIDIA accelerated graphics driver (version 180)
[Recommended].

I will do a backtrace later and upload that for more info.
I have managed to work around the problem (sort of but the performance
drops a lot) I did it by running gstreamer-properties from terminal and
then under Video selecting the X Window System (No Xv) option. This
resolves the problem but the video becomes very sluggish if I'm doing
any other process... So I still think there is an underlying issue.

Regards

Dan

[Bug 363776] [NEW] Wine 1.0.1 not working.

2009-04-19 Thread nkingcade
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

When loading any windows application, this version of wine (1.0.1) gives
me the following response:

[/media/Mikey/KingdomStuff/install2008watcheng/Setup.exe]
End-of-central-directory signature not found. Either this file is not
a zipfile, or it constitutes one disk of a multi-part archive. In the
latter case the central directory and zipfile comment will be found on
the last disk(s) of this archive.
note: /media/Mikey/KingdomStuff/install2008watcheng/Setup.exe may be a plain
executable, not an archive
zipinfo: cannot find zipfile directory in one of
/media/Mikey/KingdomStuff/install2008watcheng/Setup.exe or
  /media/Mikey/KingdomStuff/install2008watcheng/Setup.exe.zip, and
cannot find /media/Mikey/KingdomStuff/install2008watcheng/Setup.exe.ZIP, period.

The problem surfaced after a new install of the reported operating
version. This occurs on any windows application, not just the WTLB. I
have tried to load ENCASE, Collins Talking Dictionary, IE6, and two
different versions of the WTLIB. If you need more information, please
contact me. Thanks for your help.

[Bug 363450] [NEW] Watching a x264.mp4-file while using OO. OO behaved odd and got this crash report but it still works and operates.

2009-04-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: openoffice.org

While using OO, it behaved like ALT was pressed once and as I typed (in
cells in calc, ordinary text) all kinds of menus were opened so I don't
have a clue if it was similar to any other bug, like crashing when
attempting to save etc. Usually menus were opened and I press ALT once
to get rid of whatever meny that was opened but sometimes i typed the
right combo to open whatever menues.

Happened again, after a save was made (by mistake) but not until yet
another menu was opened and closed and continued for a few seconds, the
crash-thingy opened up.

Watching another .mp4-video.

Dolphin hangs to a halt for a minute or more while trying to select/open
it (.mp4-files).

Tried now with a normal xvid and still happens. Turned it off and
everything works like it should in OO.

Used Movie Player, defaulted to that for .mp4. Chose it when i tried
with normal xvid. Will try Dragon Player later and see what happens.

Have both Ubunutu/Kubuntu installed.

[Bug 363791] [NEW] [jaunty] evolution crashes on suspend

2009-04-19 Thread Jos Dehaes
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: evolution

On Jaunty: After resuming from suspend (to ram, haven't tried
hibernate), evolution is gone. All other programs are still there. This
happens every time, and is a regression, used to work in intrepid.

I don't know how to go about debugging it, apport is not generating any
report for it. I think it's related to losing the network.

the only other thing that comes to mind is user account settings: try
removing everything under ~/.gnome2/evince, and then try opening evince

good luck

[Bug 362771] Re: Icon view zoom incorrectly recalculates scrolled window width

2009-04-19 Thread Jmadero
Also confirmed. At 400% Nautilus is scrolled all the way to the right, I
can see 3 of my folders in Compact View but there are 6 in the row, if I
scroll to the left all 6 can fit in the screen but default is for the
file browser to be brought to the right which leaves a lot of blank
space on the right of the three visible folders.

2009-04-19 Thread ilovemistakes

There is a button instead of checkbutton in Battery may be broken dialog.
1) I used 9.04 RC installation
2) There is gnome-power-manager 2.24.2-2ubuntu8
3) I expected
  a) to see a checkbutton Never show this again, so I can set it, hit Close
and never see it again.
  b) to see a button, hit it and never see dialog again (so i do not need to
close dialog myself).
4) I saw a simple button (not a checkbutton) Never Nothing happened (at

[Bug 356702] Re: Jaunty: window switcher tooltips stick when they shouldn't

2009-04-19 Thread Bernhard
I wasn't sure if it was metacity issue or not. All I know is that it
happened to me ever since I upgraded to Gnome 2.26. It might be a Gnome
issue as well though, because these tooltips are completely useless
notifications of the gnome panel (the dragging in the switcher has once
been abondoned because it was too buggy).

I agree that it's a very annoying bug.

I tried a little more. Doesn't seem to affect other programs. Tried
Firefox, Thunderbird, Kate, K-mail and Nero.

None of the above program activated any menu-item by just pressing ALT,
you have to use a combination like ALT+A (in swedish version alt+a is
file-menu). OpenOffice is, so far, the only I've found that activate a
menu-item with ALT only.

[Bug 363857] [NEW] Display dims on AC power

2009-04-19 Thread domagoj412
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

Hello,
Few days ago, I've upgraded to Ubuntu 9.04 beta and experiencing some problems
with batery/AC power settings.
I think that Ubuntu recognize my laptop as running on battery when it is
actually on AC...

In Power Management settings, option: Dim display when idle is checked for

[Bug 363861] [NEW] login screen uses tiny fonts

2009-04-19 Thread Justin Husted
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

This is probably the same as one of the other gdm font bugs, but they
didn't look quite the same.

This is with the Jaunty RC, clean install.

The fonts in the login screen are mostly microscopic -- too small to
read. This applies to the actual text of the username you type in, as
well the text in the options menu.

However, the prompt asking you to type in the username / password is the
right size, as is the Options text itself and the date at the bottom.

I'm using a 1360x768 widescreen monitor (actually, a television).

This happens with the normal ATI driver as well as the fglrx driver - no
difference.

Expected behavior:

The username/password and the menu text should all be in the same font
size as the prompt and date. This looks very bad after a new install.

[Bug 362804] Re: ekiga crashed with SIGSEGV in GMVideoInputManager_ptlib::OPEN

2009-04-19 Thread Nol
From the traces I see a streaming in 1600x1200, another one in 1280x1024,
another one in 640x480 (+-55 seconds) and a negociation sequence.
The first two streaming are not asked by Ekiga I think because it is not
intended to work at such resolutions.
For the third, I don't know. This one is quite styrange as it looks always in
overflow. Do you have an image during the 55s streaming?
Are you able to reproduce the crash without trying to see the webcam in high
resolution before trying Ekiga?

[Bug 245956] Re: Error while creating child process in terminal

2009-04-19 Thread bcummings
I'll add a couple of comments to this bug.
I just upgraded my machine from Ubuntu 8.10 to 9.04. When I attempt to open a
terminal session from the Applications - Accessories menu, I receive the error
message There was an error creating the chile process for this terminal I
click on the OK button and the terminal window is open. There is a flashing
cursor in the window but I can not type any commands. While typing the cursor
stops blinking, but no characters appear. The normal command prompt does not
show up. The same thing occurs when I try and open gnome-terminal by pressing
ALT-F2 to get the run program dialog box. I type gnome-terminal in the
command window and click on the run button.

I added a launch button the panel and checked the properties. The
command line is simply gnome-terminal

I am running the gnome desktop. It is consistent every time I attempt
to open a terminal.

Let me know if you need more information. Beyond this, I'm not sure how
I would tell you to recreate the problem.

Cheers!

[Bug 363871] [NEW] Ubuntu ignores /desktop/gnome/lockdown/disable_user_switching

2009-04-19 Thread JS
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gconf-editor

Due to errors in the ATI driver, I need to disable fast user switching

As root I launch gconf-editor and set
/desktop/gnome/lockdown/disable_user_switching = True as mandatory

I verify that this setting is propagated to the user level by running
gconf-editor as a standard user and verifying the setting.

The system=Logout... menu still gives a Switch User option.

[Bug 337468] Re: Cannot move panels in dual-head non-compiz gnome desktop

2009-04-19 Thread Adrian Godoy
I can confirm on Jaunty. The alt key does not work. Current workaround:
1. Right click on panel you want to move.
2. Select Properties.
3.Un-click the expand box.
4. Move panel to where you want it.
5. click the expand box
That should do it for now.

though, pressing ALT only opens the file-menu, doesn't do that in KDE.

[Bug 363463] Re: Panel does not retain initial reordering of applets

2009-04-19 Thread erusan
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 36189 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/36189

This does not seem to be the same bug.

This is intial reordering retention, not location retention.
This is not caused by screen resolution. It is caused by simply restarting
gnome-panel.
The expected behavior, actual behavior, and description of the problem do not
match the original bug this has been duped against.

Please review this bug's description again. If the behavior is known
with certainty to be caused by the same bug causing the screen
resolution bug, then perhaps the other bug's summary and description
should be updated to be inclusive of this behavior.

[Bug 362090] Re: cursor doesn't behave properly when hovering over toolbar

2009-04-19 Thread erusan
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: epiphany-browser

  1) Jaunty Beta (up-to-date April 15)
  2) epiphany-browser 2.26.1-0ubuntu1
  3) Mouse over toolbar buttons, see pointer
  4) Cursor reacts by disappearing, appearing as a text selector, appearing as
a hand (as if resizing a window), etc

- Though the cursor behaves properly (highlights and activates buttons),
- it does not appear as it should. I have been unable to determine what
- triggers this behavior, and how the false behavior is determined
- (whether the cursos disappears, appears as a text selector, etc). This
- does not affect other applications, and other Epiphany windows (newly-
- opened--I usually have just one open so I'm not sure if it affects all
- open windows when triggered) are not affected. Effect occurs when
- hovering over toolbar (tabs, back, forward, etc) and menubar (File,
- Tools), but not when hovering over location bar.
+ Appears to occur when imbedded Flash is present. Though the cursor
+ behaves properly (highlights and activates buttons), it does not appear
+ as it should. It either disappears, appears as a text selector, a

Today i installed a fresh copy of Intrepid ibex expecting to resolve this same
problems from 8.04
However on a fresh install, the first thing I tried was to open up terminal and
press the up arrow on my keypad to cycle through to the previous command. I
know there is no previous command but this was the only way i know that can
mimic this freezing! This only happens if there are no more previous commands.
The computer just freezes and i have to reset the computer.. This only happend

[Bug 95853] Re: Delete file in Nautlus - no warning

2009-04-19 Thread Chris Coulson
Are you serious?! Any other desktop environment (Windows / KDE) asks. This is
 what the user expects!
Feels like riding a sport car without brakes...

That doesn't mean it is correct though. A confirmation dialog for moving
to trash would be intrusive. The trash is there to cover you in the
event you accidentally delete a file. If people want a dialog, then we
should just get rid of the trash entirely, as it would be completely
redundant.

[Bug 363895] [NEW] sftp cannot connect after a resume from suspend to ram

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

After doing a resume from suspend to ram, an active sftp connection
cannot be reopned with nautlius. Nautilus just hangs and after a while
displays the error message attached to this bug report. When i first
unmount the sftp location and then reconnect to the server everything
works fine.

Either all active sftp/ssh connections should be disconnected by the OS
before suspending, or when resuming it should reestablish the sftp/ssh
connections.

Note: The bug can only be recreated after suspending for a longer period
of time. I suspect that after some time a timeout is thrown and the

[Bug 363911] [NEW] gnome-sound-properties previews sounds it can't play

2009-04-19 Thread Jim Rorie
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

This is under Jaunty Beta, AMD64 on a macbook pro 5,1.

It is possible to select a sound under gnome sound properties that the
system cannot play. To demonstrate, create a sound file in your home
directory. Select that file under an event, such as empty trash. The
preview should work and play the file as normal. However, when the
event fires, it will not play.

This can be resolved by creating a link to the file in the
/usr/share/sounds directory and selecting that file instead. My
suspicion is that it is a permissions issue, but I can't for the life of
me figure our how it can play a root file but not a user file.

The result of this is that the user will select a custom file and the
default file will play instead, thus generating a bug report.

** Affects: gnome-control-center (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New
