This seems to be the same problem reported in bug #345742 with VLC and
pidgin, possibly the cause is the same. I'm not sure yet it's a
duplicate.

Ok finally figured out how to make it work.
Play something that is present in the already generated automatic playlist

can create an automatic playlist.
Hope this works

[Bug 371533] [NEW] gnome-session not starting after jaunty upgrrade

2009-05-04 Thread ZioNemo
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-session

Hi,
my problems started when upgrading to 9.04 my acer Aspire 8930.

I strongly suspect something is wrong with:
ma...@wiki3a:~$ apt-cache policy gnome-session
gnome-session:
  Installed: 2.26.0svn20090408-0ubuntu2
  Candidate: 2.26.0svn20090408-0ubuntu2
  Version table:
 *** 2.26.0svn20090408-0ubuntu2 0
500 http://it.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
... but my analysis could be wrong.

I simply seem unable to login with any kind of gnome session: i get a box
stating Your session lasted less than 10 seconds
The content of .xession-errors actually vary, but one of the constant parts is:

Window manager warning: Failed to read saved session file
/home/mauro/.config/metacity/sessions/1023f0b90bdd217b6512414169409447990042060025.ms:

contains key 'Terminal' which has value that cannot be interpreted.
*** glibc detected *** /usr/bin/gnome-session: free(): invalid pointer:
0x08a00558 ***

another constant warning i get and which could be significant is:

** Message: Another GPG agent already running

what should I check?

I include a couple of (successive) error logs.
As You can see they are different.

A few other points that may or may not be relevant:

If I do not acknowledge the error (leave the your session... box open)
I can work almost normally, but some programs will refuse to start; most
notably gnome-terminal (konsole works).

I tried to get help on answers and in ubuntu forums; i tried all
suggestions, but no joy: the two threads are:
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=7158159 and
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+question/69339; as said I tried
all things that were suggested and some more, results are in the threads
and I will not repeat them here.

The error box itself has a funny bug: if I move it from the initial
position (center of screen) and then click the [OK] button it does *not*
disappear, but it will move to initial position, if I click another time
*without moving the window* then it closes (and the session terminates).
If I keep moving the messagebox before clicking [OK] I will never be
able to close it.

This behavior is not constant: sometime, usually right after reboot, I
can login normally and all is well.

I also tried to make a brand new user: it logged ok the first time, then
the problem reappeared.

I am prepared to give full support to whoever can help me.
I really do not know what to do.

Thanks in Advance
ZioNemo

2009-05-04 Thread ZioNemo
This is the .xsession-errors log for a good login I had right after
boot.

Apparently to get a good login I have to reboot, *wait* for some time (this
time I went for a coffee) and *then* login.
I am not sure this is a pattern, but it happened before.

[Bug 371364] Re: evolution crash of contact list

2009-05-04 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. However, your crash report is either missing or challenging to deal
with as a '.crash' file. Please follow these instructions to have apport report
a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer.

If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport
in /etc/default/apport and restart.

If you are using Ubuntu with the Gnome desktop environment - launch nautilus
and navigate to your /var/crash directory and double click on the crash report
you wish to submit.

If you are using Kubuntu or Xubuntu you can file the crash using
/usr/share/apport/apport-qt --crash-file=/var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash in a
terminal - where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report.
I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will
automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding.

[Bug 371219] Re: Nautilus fails to auto update

2009-05-04 Thread fisherm
** Description changed:

Using fully updated Ubuntu 8.10, Kernel 2.6.27-11-generic, GNOME 2.24.1.
Nautilus version 1:2.24.1-0ubuntu2. I create a file via gedit and save
to directory X. I expect nautilus to update the item count in X. It
does not refresh the count until manually refreshed or the directory is
opened. If the file is dragged into X instead of saved directly there,
nautilus works as expected. For what this is worth...gvfs-monitor-dir
X does indeed see that the file has been saved to the directory even
though the count is not refreshed. This also applies to refreshing
thumbnail images of modified image files.
-
- To recreate:
- Set Nautilus prefs to display size of directory or file
- Create directory - /home/user/Desktop/X
- Use gedit to create a text file
- Save that file through gedit, saving to /home/user/Desktop/X
- The count of items in X will not update until F5 or Ctrl+R is pressed
- OR until the directory is opened, thereby refreshing its item count.

Re: [Bug 371516] Re: Rhythmbox music status not shown by Pidgin

2009-05-04 Thread Peter Belew
This is the Music Tracker plugin for Pidgin.

On my 8.10 system, the Pidgin is version 2.5.2.
Rhythmbox is 0.11.6

This works on the 8.10 system.

For the version(s) on the 9.04 version of Ubuntu, this does NOT work.

microsoft binaries in most cases and don't work under linux so that's
not activated by default in jaunty to avoid confusion

[Bug 359565] Re: Burn Properties buttons disabled on Video Project

2009-05-04 Thread AndyCee
I apologise for the lateness of my reply.

I have installed Brasero 0.91 from backports, and the error remains the
same, but on the Disc Burning Setup an error message states:

--
Please, replace the disc with a supported CD or DVD.
It is not possible to write with the current set of plugins.
--

I am using a TDK DVD-R, and the error remains if I uncheck all of the
plugins or even select to burn to an image.

2009-05-04 Thread Harald
Just Upgraded from Gutsy to Intrepid and finally to JJ. This is still
happening on JJ 9.04. Will anyone ever take a look at this bug??

The search domains are received via MS DHCP.

Regards,

Harald

the test directory open in a nautilus window, then the count updates
as expected as soon as the file is saved.

there is probably no need to bother using lsb values, static versions
should work or use those in the rules to build the .js at build time
rather
