I think this has nothing to do with #439138. The login face browser list
simply does not have input focus. I can click around and nothing changes
unless I click in the list and it gets focus.

could the users who get the issue give details on the reason why they
turn off the background display? the new nautilus version used in karmic
has a gconf key to not exit in such case, it would make sense to use
that if users are trying to get a clean background or get something else
to render it

The issue is with 100_load_desired_settings.patch. In
gnome_rr_config_apply_from_filename_with_time(), there is this new code
section:

gcalctool opatares just with integers when real number are changed
clipped everything from the first event on 10/6 to the last shutdown on
10/8. I'm guessing the tty1 entries were me looking on the console to
see why it thought there was another session, and to run ck-list-
sessions. the /dev/??? are odd...

gdmsetup, which is particularly annoying if you don't like the default
one, which forices me to click my username out of a long list instead of
just typing my name in.

I added an updated branch that has the button style, bg entry and glow
as the original mock up. Please let me know if this is what was planned
as I can tweak the theme some more? More glow can be easily added to
the buttons if needed. Cancel and login buttons are the same as in the
mock up with
