[Bug 483454] [NEW] redoundant directory creation
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: nautilus I created a directory on a webdav server. The log shows a MKCOL (webdav way to say mkdir) request for a cartella senza nome (i don't know the original english string for that, could be nameless directory?) and then a MOVE request to the name i gave to the directory. Now, i think that it would be much better if the MKCOL request would be issued directly for the name i want to give to the directory. [Bug 173350] Re: Caps lock LED changes state even when caps lock is mapped to ctrl
This is still an issue for me. I'm running 8.04 (up to date) on a HP DV 1700 series laptop. [Bug 173350] Re: Caps lock LED changes state even when caps lock is mapped to ctrl
It doesn't stick. But, rather than mess around with config files, I've got another work around. Put the command: xmodmap -e clear lock -e add lock = Caps_Lock into the sessions thingy (System- Preferences - Sessions - Add, the name is whatever, the command is the one above etc.). Also after switching through the GUI, but before running the xmodmap command, ctrl-alt-backspace has to use the 'real' ctrl key. ctrl-alt- arrow (to switch desktops) has to use the 'new' (formally caps) ctrl key. [Bug 461379] Re: reduce backlight brightness sets brightness level incorrectly
I can confirm this on Xubuntu Karmic (9.10, final, up to date on 2009-11-16). Additionally to the procedure that lightrush describes: A. When the brightness gets reduced after the specified idle time and is reactivated by mouse or keyboard activity, it invariably switches back to a medium brightness - even if before it was on maximum brightness. B. Sometimes (I don't yet see the logic) this even means that touching the computer after some idle time makes the screen dim down. I played around with the checkbox Monitor power management control and with the slider Reduce screen brightness when computer is inactive ..., but these symptoms do not disappear. [Bug 483531] [NEW] guides don't work and selection trouble
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: gimp I am using Ubuntu 9.10 and made a clean install 2 weeks ago. Since that time my guides do not work anymore in GIMP. I checked if my guides have been turned on in the view menu. They are. Also after I tried to deploy a guide the ants around a selected area are not visible anymore, while in fact the area is still selected and I am still able to edit it. This can only be fixed by restarting GIMP and not touching the guides anymore. I am using Ubuntu and GIMP since 6.06 and never had this problem. Does anyone know if this has anything to do simply with my settings or a Nvidia, Gnome, Compiz or GIMP related bug? Thanks in advance. [Bug 483541] [NEW] File-roller drag'n drop is unreliable
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: file-roller Drag'n drop of a file from file-roller in Gnome to a local folder is unreliable here. It fails 1 time out of 5 here approximately. When it fails, it gives the following error message: You don't have the right permissions to extract archives in the folder file:///home/chris/Documents/ASSET/WP5-T1/VTT/VTT-TML-Integration/Code/Web%20services/xds.txttion Note that I'm actually trying to drop the file to this location (where the permissions are ok): /home/chris/Documents/ASSET/WP5-T1/VTT/VTT-TML-Integration/Code/Web services/ I have no idea where the trailing xds.txttion comes from and of course it does not exist on my local filesystem. The error always refers to this folder name. Just a hint, I think it has something to do with the time you wait until you release the mouse button to actually drop the file in the folder. I think the behavior is as follows: 1. Press mouse button on a file in file-roller, drag the mouse to the local folder, wait until a '+' appears on the left of the dragged file icon and then release the button - It works (If you wait a sufficient amount of time, it never crashes) 2. Press mouse button on a file in file-roller, drag the mouse to the local folder, immediately release the mouse button before the '+' appears on the left of the file icon - It does not do anything, the file is not extracted, no error (probably too fast). 3. Crash case: I think it crashes if you release the mouse button relatively fast, just before the '+' appears on the icon (or maybe at this moment). I might be wrong but this is my best guess and I hope it can help identifying the issue since it is not easy to reproduce probably. Hello there, In Ubuntu 904x86_64, Evolution just crashed. Nothing unusual happened before the crash. Other things happening in Evolution are: 1- It keeps Folders in the IN Folder marked as has emails not read when it has none until evolution restarts. 2- Every time the app starts, checking contact list and selecting 1 contact from the list makes the contact list scroll up and down from begining to end of list before showing the contact information on the Preview Pane. 3- If the Preview Pane is not shown, the contact list just does de scroll up and down for several times and then stops. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: epiphany-browser When I first upgraded to karmic I was able to enter login information on webpages and when I return to the site at a later date the login information would be autocompleted for me once the page completes loading. In the last week or so this behavior stopped occurring. I believe the package that was updated may have been a xulrunner package but Epiphany is now built on a WebKit backend so I don't know why the Mozilla (and thus Gecko) xulrunner components getting changed would affect this behavior. SYSTEM STATS: Ubuntu version: 9.10 Epiphany version: 2.28.0-4ubuntu1 AFFECTED SITES: Gmail, WordPress.com, Ubuntu Forums, Launchpad, Boston Public Library online catalog (http://catalog.mbln.org/ipac20/ipac.jsp?profile=bpl1) etc. REPRODUCABLE: 100% reproducable STEPS: 1. Launch Epiphany and surf to a website that requires logging in 2. Enter your username and password 3. The login credentials are accepted and you are able to use the complete feature set of the website. 4. Close Epiphany 5. At some point in the future (the next day, if not later in that same day) launch Epiphany 6. Return to the website's login page EXPECTED: Once the login page finishes being rendered your username and password is entered into the fields (with the password being shown simply as a string of dots or asterisks) ACTUAL: Once the login page finishes being rendered the username and password fields are blank with no way to retrieve them short of typing them in manually. Not even the password is provided once the username is entered and you tab or click to the password field ProblemType: Bug Architecture: i386 CheckboxSubmission: 6577f4a98123013ed895d57580291f00 CheckboxSystem: fc73f07fcd9845bb95fa3ca6b8be7ef2 Date: Mon Nov 16 06:52:32 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 NonfreeKernelModules: nvidia Package: epiphany-browser 2.28.0-4ubuntu1 ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, no user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-15.50-generic SourcePackage: epiphany-browser Uname: Linux 2.6.31-15-generic i686 XsessionErrors: (gnome-settings-daemon:1690): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_propagate_error: assertion `src != NULL' failed (nautilus:1751): Eel-CRITICAL **: eel_preferences_get_boolean: assertion `preferences_is_initialized ()' failed (gnome-panel:1726): Gdk-WARNING **: /build/buildd/gtk+2.0-2.18.3/gdk/x11/gdkdrawable-x11.c:952 drawable is not a pixmap or window (polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1:1869): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `initialization_value != 0' failed (Do:1881): Wnck-CRITICAL **: wnck_set_client_type got called multiple times. ** Affects: epiphany-browser (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 -- Login information is no longer remembered https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/483566 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to epiphany-browser in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 410407] Re: [READ DESCRIPTION] Flash is not recognizing mouse clicks in multiple situations
I also have this problem since upgrading opensuse 11.1 to 11.2. No problems before then. SOME flash videos won't work in Firefox 3.5.5 (bbc iplayer, most youtube videos) when compiz is enabled. The holding-down- right-click workaround works for me. If I switch to Metacity or Kwin then all works okay. So it seems like it's a Compiz thing but dailymotion.com, for instance, works with no problems (Compiz enabled). Also no problems with flash videos with Opera (bbc iplayer and youtube work fine). So I only get this bug when Compiz is enabled and I'm viewing only certain sites in Firefox. Oh and I'm 32-bit not 64-bit. Have tried numerous combos of standalone flash player, plugins, gnash and swf codecs to no avail. Only the hold-right-click workaround seems to register the left-clicks of my mouse. -- [READ DESCRIPTION] Flash is not recognizing mouse clicks in multiple situations https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/410407 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gtk+2.0 in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 376053] Re: navigating in nautilus causes external drives to spin up
I've experienced this bug in Jaunty and now in Karmic. I have 5 Western Digital external USB drives (quite a lot, I know). I did a clean install of Karmic, and after plugging in the drives I notice significant lags in these operations: - Starting up GNOME. I'm running on an SSD, so time to desktop normally is around 10 seconds from GRUB. With the drives plugged in, it takes an additional 10-15 seconds while each drive spins up. - Opening the Places menu. Nautilus insists on spinning up each drive when opening the Places menu. - Opening Computer. - Occasionally in Save or Open dialogs. This is not fixed in GNOME 2.26. Can someone else confirm and reopen this bug? I'd be happy to provide any logs, just let me know which ones. I dont like windows but the search facility for files is better in windows. Or grep? I dont know enough about command line seaches - I wish I did. I do not even know if this is a bug. probably just a lack of knowledge on my part. Also, why do I have to 'register'? I dont want to. I wont remember my username or my password. I have thousand s already. Why would you care? Presumably some kind of assessment of significance of reported bugs takes place, so why bother. Also in the search, if I change the display format it re-does the search. I prefer list view. icons are ludicrous if one has more thna a few files. I am sure it is all my fault... [Bug 191889] Re: [MASTER] [WORKAROUND] Offline Mode feature fails to detect proper online state for networks that are managed outside of network manager.
Benjamin, Seeing that message is normal when you have new virtual interfaces such as 'vboxnet0' from VirtualBox, see comment #266. Have you run updates since your installation of Karmic? There was one know problem with Ubuntu One and synchronization was disabled for the release. You would see an icon with two arrows circling an exclamation mark if it is the case, along with a popup notification if it is the case. This should be fixed now. Otherwise, consider opening a new bug, since as you say other network related things are working. Don't forget to tell us what new bug number it is :) Thanks, -- [MASTER] [WORKAROUND] Offline Mode feature fails to detect proper online state for networks that are managed outside of network manager. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/191889 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 483606] [NEW] printing only prints first page of document
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: evince Hi, I have tried printing several pdf's and only the first page prints. It doesn't matter if I select 'print all pages' or 'print pages 1-3' for example. I'm unsure if this is a problem of Ubuntu per se or the printer drivers. The printer is a Xerox 3272 and I have refreshed the drivers several times. Thanks. [Bug 480063] Re: Brasero won't burn ISO images
Just to clear this up, it was when I double clicked an ISO that it failed, however something seems to have fixed it. I suspect it may have been something other than Brasero. It works now, and I can't seem to reproduce the problem.
