ubuntu-bug is very good and running it against gnotravex and has the

1) Open your home folder
2) Open any subfolder
3) Make sure folder view is set to Icon view
4) Use the back button on your mouse to go back to your home folder
5) Open the subfolder again
6) Make sure folder view is set to List

In Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty), this problem still occurs. I have an external
USB drive which appears in the system as /dev/scd1 (the internal drive
in my thinkpad is /dev/scd0). There appears to be no way to select a
different drive.

I have changed the values in /etc/login.defs to the ones you proposed (UID_MIN
to 1000 and UID_MAX to 6) and now it seems to work fine.
It still would be interesting, what messed up with these settings (which in my

AFAICT, xsplash is probably making X segfault and the session be closed
when its resolution (the default xorg one) doesn't match the user
preferred one (as set in xfce4-settings). Xfce4-settings-helper (spawned
by xfce4-session) restores the user preferred resolution while xsplash
is running,

I made a GUI in pyGtk that allows a couple of tweaks to be applied to
GDM2 including the disabling of the logon sound in a nice easy to use

I am using gnome-sound-recorder 2.28.1 in Ubuntu 9.10 (64-bits).
The recording duration increases rapidly and regularly (about 30 sec added in
the display for 1 sec).
Moreover playback does not work after recording.

This is reproducible on latest Karmic. SSH is not needed, any window
exhibits the same behavior, see the video. Starting from some width,
window decorations become corrupted.
This behavior starts from 2554 pixels width on my 1280x1024 monitor. No
problems with height of 9000 pixels, though.
