Sorry, but with 'latest Ubuntu release', I had Ubuntu 9.10 (karmic) in
mind, which ships gnome 2.28. This is the current release that upstream
is supporting and they believe it should be fixed with 2.28, so it would

Contrary to my comments to bug 485475, i also happens without kvm or
virt-manager running.
It also happens with only one screen (the laptop's builtin) attached.

Similar to bug #391460
Nautilus freezes when I try to open either my Documents or Pictures
folders. This started two days ago. Nautilus tries to open them,
pauses, then disappears and all icons on my desktop disappear.

Hmm, according to pdfinfo, your file is PDF version 1.4. Nevertheless,
I think embedded 3D drawings are from a later PDF version which the
poppler version in Karmic 9.10 does not support.
Typing "evince Telaio_2.PDF" at the command prompt (without the quotes)
gives:

Same problem.

FWIW; I reproducibly get this crash both with and without compiz running
(i.e. with "system::preferences::appearence::visual effects" set to
either "none" or "normal"). However, if you run quadrapassel with the
--sync parameter, the crash happens more reliably due to suppressed X11
buffering.
