I recently ran into this problem with an unencrypted DVD as well. I simply did: aptitude install gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly Which solved the problem. Hello, I can confirm that on Ubuntu 9.10 amd64 with the kernel downloaded from here: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/v2.6.32.2/ my SATA drive still refuses to work properly. The burnung fails just a few seconds after it has started. On Windows, it burns without any problems. I am attaching the Nero Linux burn log. I also would like to mention that my SATA controller is set to AHCI mode in BIOS. I would like to remain in AHCI, as I also have a SATA hard drive on the same SATA controller and I would really like to use AHCI features like S.M.A.R.T. and so on which, as far as I know, are not available when I set the SATA controller to so-called IDE mode. As in Windows it burns flawlessly, I assume that the problem is the current linux kernel which does not support burning on SATA drives in AHCI mode. ** Attachment added: Nero Linux burn log http://launchpadlibrarian.net/38552310/Log.txt -- Unable to burn CD or DVD with 2.6.31 kernel https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/405544 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

for the empathy support of low color support i did a new report. so please head over to Bug #514666 ** Description changed: - UPDATE: as of lucid and vinagre packge 2.29.1-0ubuntu1 (along with it's - dependencies) there is support for low color depths. but so far it seems - that empathy can't make use of that. it would be great if it could, - because it would make desktop sharing some what usable over most - people's internet connections. + UPDATE: For Empathy's support of low color depth see Bug #514666 Binary package hint: vinagre I installed Hardy Alpha 4, and updated the packages so I am up to date with Alpha 6. [Bug 514134] Re: awn disappeared after update to gconf 2.28.0-1ubuntu3
Made another Lucid install from the today's build. Installing awn then resulted in all awn gconf key default values being unassigned (no value). Starting up awn-settings failed as well. Maybe I should be a little more explicit: what you suggest in the bug description is not implemented, that would require a full specification, plus discussions with Upstart developers and people from other distributions (even LSB?). There's a fix in the system-tools-backends 2.9.2: we no longer list gdm as a service worth showing to GUI users. [Bug 267371] Re: [gvfs] [smb] Damaged OpenOffice files from samba shares
Yikes. I believe that as of the recent fuse/samba update (this AM), this bug is back in Karmic with OO 3.1. Re: [Bug 514298] Re: users-admin : Scrolling through list resizes listbox
Hmm, you are right. The name is longer for me than for root. Though, what is strange about it is, in both cases there is plenty of space between the names and the buttons, so it shouldn't need the extra space anyway.. The reason I recommend Rename for the name instead of Change like the others is that it's not immediately clear what is being changed otherwise (since it's just a person-head and a name). Also it would break up the repetition and is more specific. -James On Fri, Jan 29, 2010 at 9:05 AM, Milan Bouchet-Valat nalimi...@club.fr wrote: If you want to provide a full UI review, a message to our mailing list would be more appropriate I guess. For now: I think I'll change Edit to Change, I was misled by the French translation into thinking it was the right term (actually this is a stock GTK+ button). The alignment problem for Help and Close is known, but I'm not sure how I can fix this, since that box is normally automatically configured by GTK+. I'll see what we can do, but obviously that's not top priority since that can be change at any time without risks - better get the tools working right first. So I'll keep that report to tackle the resizing issue. I suspect the list isn't getting wider when you select root, but rather the main part of the window is getting wider when you select your own account. I know this can happen when labels get wider than the default, which mainly depends on your locale. Could you provide screenshots of both situations? BTW, this has changed in the latest upstream code, so that may not behave the same now. ** Changed in: gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: gnome-system-tools (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- users-admin : Scrolling through list resizes listbox https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/514298 You received this bug notification because you are a direct subscriber of the bug. Another thing, the symmetry on the right is nice, but it's really not good for naming. Instead of Edit for all three (not very specific), put 'Rename' for the name and 'Change' for the other two. The first has no label so it's not clear what it is initially, and there's no such thing as 'editing' an Account Type, since it's a list of options not a big, configurable thing. One could argue for editing a password, but nobody uses English that way, they say 'change my password'. Also, 'Help' and 'Close' are a few pixels squished in from the sides and don't align with anything else.
