I'll try to reproduce the bug, but I think it's more an issue with the

it I haven't been able to reproduce this crash again. I'll try to run it
in a debugger and check with the Murrine developers.

[Bug 95326] Re: sound juicer aac formatted files skip and...

2010-02-03 Thread Toon Verwaest
Just found out that profile=4 encodes something semi-ok but it appears
to still be played back broken. The noise is just more subtle (although
too annoying to listen to with headphones).

And profile=2 has the problem that the track numbers are not added to
the file. When I try to manually add them using rhythmbox itself, they
only stay until I restart rhythmbox. When I add them using easytag,
easytag finds them back after restarting easytag; although rhythmbox
doesn't notice the difference. If anyone has a solution for this problem
... I again only find descriptions of this problem online.

hello
I have a similar bug on Karmic, but I don't know if I have to open a new bug

- insert a DVD-RW

- after several seconds the blanking has started, a pop-up window appears
'Unable to mount Blank Optical Disk - DBUS error -

I leave the window until the blank has finished, and the blanking is
always successfull. I did not try to close the window before the

[Bug 515336] Re: nautilus crashes when TRASH, COMPUTER, or NETWORK clicked

2010-02-03 Thread Chris Coulson
There hasn't been a glib2.0 update in Jaunty for over 4 months now, so
which update are you referring to? If you've had a glib2.0 update in the
last few days, then it's likely you've installed some packages from a
third party PPA somewhere which is triggering this crash. If that's the
case, then there's not a lot we can do (and this isn't the right place
to report it).

What version causes the crash?

[Bug 516494] [NEW] Tomboy notes printing problem: indentation

2010-02-03 Thread Stefan Becuwe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: yelp

Ubuntu 9.10
Tomboy 1.0.0-0ubuntu2

Indentation (different levels of bullets) is lost when printing notes
directly or by sending them to a pdf file. According to earlier
bugreports, this bug should have been fixed already, but I don't see it
in version 1.0.0.

Moreover, Preferences/Add-ins/Desktop Integration shows both Printing
Support 0.1 and 0.2. The problem described above occurs with both
versions of Printing Support.

Exporting to html preserves indentation, but whitespace between
(bulleted) items seems to be rather large.

Is this intentional or accidental? Cause I'm trying to port xiphos to
1.9.2 using ubuntu-mozilla-daily ppa and I'm getting build errors where
xulrunner-embedding.pc shipped headers try to include headers from nspr.

[Bug 516363] Re: Rhytmbox sometimes don't detect sound system

2010-02-03 Thread Pedro Barreira
Totem works fine !
(
It seems the problem is lmms and rhythmbox !

I recreated the situation when it occurred.

I was playing with LMMS (linux multimedia studio system) and closed it!
Then after some time i wanted to play some music (to forget those I created :) )
Rhytmbox failed !

Now I have tried the situation again:
Run lmms from terminal
with open terminal and when exiting lmms

QThread: Destroyed while thread is still running

lmms does not close and keeps itself running ... is open/close
multiple times ... it keeps multiples instances of lmms running with
waiting channel msg futex_wait_queue_me.

If the lmms process it killed from system monitor, all becomes alright
again.

Using gdb (http://lmms.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php?title=How_to_report_bugs)
it shuts down :

[New Thread 0xb7d0bb70 (LWP 16275)]
[New Thread 0xb2c0ab70 (LWP 16276)]
[New Thread 0xb2409b70 (LWP 16277)]
[New Thread 0xb094cb70 (LWP 16278)]
[New Thread 0xb014bb70 (LWP 16279)]
[Thread 0xb014bb70 (LWP 16279) exited]
QThread: Destroyed while thread is still running
[Thread 0xb094cb70 (LWP 16278) exited]
[Thread 0xb7d0bb70 (LWP 16275) exited]

So it seems it's not a rhytmbox bug but a lmms bug as the lmms does not
release the resources (ALSA?)!

[Bug 164475] Re: users-admin deletes privileges granted to ADS domain users with the command line utility (adduser)

2010-02-03 Thread Milan Bouchet-Valat
I think I understand the issue, which is not related to upstream bug
489187 (cited in description) now, since it's been fixed properly. The
problem may come from liboobs that removes users it doesn't know about
(see new upstream report).

I can hardly see how using PolicyKit instead of 'sudo users-admin' would
change anything. James, con you confirm you're starting users-admin the
right way, i.e. from the menus or with 'users-admin'?

[Bug 494096] Re: Clicking the title of a window is bringing a window underneath it into focus

2010-02-03 Thread Shane O'Connell
It seems like this only happens with certain themes... After switching
my window borders to New Wave it seems like it's not happening
anymore. It also doesn't happen when using compiz, even with themes that
screw up metacity.

The original poster also mentioned that he uses multiple monitors, and
so do I. The other posters haven't mentioned whether they do or not but
maybe that's also required to see the problem.

Somehow it seems like the problem is some interaction between metacity
and certain themes, including the default Human one, and possibly
relating to using multiple monitors.

Hello, I'm experiencing the same annoying bug!
I went ahead and installed dbgsym package of nautilus (nautilus-dbgsym) and did

Instead of crashing (which is normal when cut-pasting to an sftp

only if I run it using the degub symbols.

Anyway, I'm attaching the produced files. I can provide more info if needed.

[Bug 516476] [NEW] desktop icons disappear on accessing the trash folder

2010-02-03 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When I put something in the trash folder and want to access that trash folder
later on to see what I put in it, the folder immediately closes
and I get to see my desktop pic instead. However, there are no icons on that
desktop. I can not change anything on it. I can only go to my desktop icons
when I access the folder instead.

Logging off and back on gets me back the normal desktop. When I try to
access the trash folder now while something is still in it, I can't -
the above thing (disappearing icons, only desktop pic remains) happens
again. If the trash is empty, I can access the trash folder.

[Bug 405132] Re: Fonts overlap in Evince 2.22.2

2010-02-03 Thread madbiologist
The characters don't overlap in Karmic 9.10 either, although they look
more blurry than they do in 10.04 alpha 2, even though in 10.04 alpha 2
they are grey instead of black.

Technically, this bug is fixed in Karmic. We could open a new bug for
the blurriness in Karmic, but since the blurriness is already fixed in
Lucid 10.04 I don't think there is much point in doing so. Please
correct me if I am wrong on that last point.

back in July, 2009.

Is there any more I can do to help debug this. I can work around the

I'll upload my sources.list if it helps.

2010-02-03 Thread Chris Coulson
volkswagner - please don't mix issues. The thread linked there has
nothing to do with this, as this is caused by a rogue libglib2.0-0
package which has only appeared in the last couple of days or so. Also,
as pointed out in my last comment, this is not an Ubuntu bug and there's
nothing we can do about it. Please report the issue to whoever supplied
you with the broken glib version

Pardon me for adding the link. I had some pertinent info in my post
showing the segfault from /var/log/messages. I just thought is was
interesting that the symptoms were the same or similar. I am just
trying to help.

I don't fully understand your mail. Is my issue related to the original
bug report? Are you just commenting because I added a link to an old
thread?

I will be researching to determine where my glib version comes from.

I am no expert, I help when I can, and seek help when I need it.

Peace,

[Bug 408603] Re: Evolution not restoring data from backup archive

2010-02-03 Thread Dave Morley
Bug is still an issue here. I have found a work around for those who
still have issues.

Extract the tar.gz file into a folder foo.
Hit ctrl+h to show hidden files/folders
Open the .evolution folder.
Copy the backup-restore-gconf.xml into foo.
highlight the 3 item now in the foo folder.
Right click and select compress.
Call it evolution-backup.tar.gz.
Now direct evolution to the foo folder and the new evolution-backup.tar.gz file.

Magically it now works.

[Bug 488710] Re: file won't print using any method

2010-02-03 Thread Till Kamppeter
I have done a test on simply running pdftops on the command line to
convert your file and it takes more than 3 minutes:

t...@till:~/ghostscript/gpl/testfiles$ time /usr/bin/pdftops -level2
-origpagesizes cesifo1_wp1249-1.pdf - out.ps

real3m10.118s
user2m45.060s
sys 0m25.020s
t...@till:~/ghostscript/gpl/testfiles$

So pdftops (or Poppler/XPDF in general) is too slow on converting this
file. So it is a Poppler bug.

[Bug 437309] Re: Ability: start typing item to select in drop-down menu

2010-02-03 Thread om26er
Thank you for bringing this bug to our attention. However, a paper cut
should be a small usability issue , in the default Ubuntu 9.10 install ,
that affects many people and is quick and easy to fix. So this bug can't
be addressed as part of the project.

feature request is not part of the papercut project.

For further info about papercuts criteria , pls read
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut

Don't worry though, This bug has been marked as invalid ONLY in the
papercuts project

[Bug 409432] Re: Screensaver should display time and allow volume control when screen is locked

2010-02-03 Thread Sense Hofstede
Actually it would be bad if you could still hear sound when the screen
is locked. I'd consider that a bug.

Thanks, glad to see the system works!

Technically, this bug is fixed in Karmic. We could open a new bug for
the blurriness in Karmic, but since the blurriness is already fixed in
Lucid 10.04 I don't think there is much point in doing so. Please
correct me if I am wrong on that last point.

 Changing status to Fix Released.

[Bug 332355] Re: Empathy doesn't alert to new email messages

2010-02-03 Thread Eric Obrock
I don't care if we're annoying the developers. To me it sounds like
the whole reason they hadn't worked on this in the first place is a lack
of understanding that a mail notifier is an extremely important feature
to MANY users.

The issue is Ubuntu has made an Empathy to be the default client, and if
the developers can't handle a few requests to improve their software
then why are they developing in the first place? I find it hard to
believe they only want to spend their valuable time fixing bugs, instead
of making an inferior product truly ready for the open market.
