switched off desktop effects and the problem came back.

release at the end of this month, but I had also considered using a
live CD. However, if the CD is running a live version of Ubuntu, can I
then take it out to play an audio CD?

I noticed that when i past text containing carry return (\r) data where not
transmitted but after a clean using pidgin datas are send correctly
Then, if i replace line feed (\n) by \r\n data are not transmitted again.
