people simply close their laptop lid and put it in their laptop bag. If
suspend aborted because of a gnome-screensaver failure, they could run
the risk of overheating their laptop and possibly damaging it.

This has been plaguing me for several releases. This issue disappeared
for a while in some earlier releases, then returned. Really makes gnome
desktop look trashy for those of us that use side panels.

in a fully updated i386 natty, when I attach an external monitor to my netbook,
the external monitor show good, but the screen in the laptop monitor is reduced.

kernel fires an event to reconfigure the monitors automatically. gnome-
display-properties hears that event and then changes the monitors to
match what's in your monitors.xml config file.
