In my case, problem went away after killing pulseaudio and restarting
it.
Interestingly, while gnome-volume-control showed both audio sources
(digital/analog), pavucontrol only listed the HDMI one, and even though
gnome-volume-control showed analog as selected, muting the visible HDMI

Turkish issue: gnome-language-selector crashes after a fresh install
This continues to affect me. I can no longer run the nautilus file
manager in a useable state. Whether launching from the command line or
using the unity launcher for Home Folder, nautilus is hung, not
responding and 100% CPU between all 4 cores is being used. I am able to
view this behavior under
kdm doesn't come up when selecting resume normal boot in the single user mode.
I've tested it on two machines.
I'll leave the verification-needed tag since I haven't tested gdm.

Update: I found the culprit...even though there was no indication of
what process was consuming all CPU cycles.
Disabling the ubuntuone-daemon from starting automatically allows
everything to function correctly.
There's already a bug filed for this issue, bug # 776386.

I figured out that there is an entry in /usr/share/applications but it
is hidden in the start menu with the line OnlyShowIn=GNOME;. I'm using
LXDE and because of this the entry is not visible. I don't know why the
visibility is limited to GNOME because it can even be used in other
desktop
