When I try to launch seahorse from the commandline, it takes forever to
run because it's trying to check signatures on each key in my public
keyring one by one using commands like this:

Could you remove that nvidia file and see if that fixes the issue you
get at home? If it does it means there is a bug in the nvidia tools
which try to apply that configuration when you are not at work and break
other things when it doesn't apply correctly

Good find, yeah that sounds similar. Probably these apps just don't use
gsettings yet. Maybe a bugfix then would just be to special case: any
string present in the server fields indicates HTTP proxy on when gluing

I think I found a way (unfortunately not a good one) to by-pass this
problem: I set the login password in seahorse to a blank one and now
Evolution syncs itself properly and the credentials for the online-

OK, just now I backed up /usr/share/themes/Ambiance to
/usr/share/themes/Ambiance.DIST and made the same three trivial changes
to the them -- changed selected_bg_color from #f07746 to #008ab8 in
gtk-3.0/settings.ini, gtk-3.0/gtkrc, and gtk-2.0/gtkrc -- and switched
to this updated Ambiance theme.
Setting gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.lockdown disable-lock-screen
'true' does NOT work. Set and reboot, I still get asked for a password
after Suspend.

I have been using Kamal Mostafa's kernels for my Dell Studio 15 for a
few releases. Now, in oneiric, the brightness can not be changed unless
I add acpi_backlight=vendor to the kernel command line. The brightness
adjustment works fine when I make this

Setting gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.lockdown disable-lock-screen
'true' DOES work.
Type the command in terminal, do NOT sudo it, it must be for the current
user. After reboot I am no longer asked for a password on return from
suspend.

The problem is caused by a recent change to gnome-settings-daemon (the
application of debian/patches/00git_dont_restore_brightness.patch); I'm
working on a fix.
I also note that the bug only occurs if the system is plugged in to A/C
power at the moment gnome-settings-daemon first detects that
I've had it twice before I reported the bug, but now I cannot reproduce
it. If it occurs again I will report those logs you requested. I think I
could unlock admin dialogs but some days passed and I'm not very sure of
this.
