[Bug 878836] Re: Unity Greeter - Use Unity Greeter to fulfil lock screen as well as login functions

2012-02-09 Thread Robert Ancell
Was just about to upload the gnome-screensaver fix and then I realised it
doesn't work in this case:
When you switch users (e.g. to guest) indicator-session locks the screen then
does the switch. With this change this causes lightdm to both start a greeter
and a new session. I think the correct fix is for indicator-session to not
attempt the lock when running under lightdm and get the lightdm daemon to
always lock sessions when switching away from them.

[Bug 878836] Re: Unity Greeter - Use Unity Greeter to fulfil lock screen as well as login functions

2012-02-09 Thread Robert Ancell
We've got three tasks here:
 - gnome-screensaver needs to switch to the greeter when it locks.
 - LightDM needs to provide a new D-Bus method to lock the screen and hint to
the greeter that it is in lock mode

[Bug 846378] Re: Missing Firefox, Trash and Show Desktop icon

2012-02-09 Thread Jeremy Bicha
I think I'll add the Show Desktop button by default since it's rather
useful (of course, it does the same as Ctrl+Alt+D). I don't think the
Trash icon is useful for most people by default. Adding a Help button
isn't very useful since Help would either describe Unity or GNOME Shell
which are dramatically different than GNOME panel. A single Firefox
button wouldn't be useful to Chrome/Chromium users and there's almost as
many of those as there are Firefox users.

2012-02-09 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Piotr, you have to hold down the Alt key and then right click on the
panels to edit them. If you're running Compiz, you'll have to hold down
Alt+Super.

Once you do that and select Add to Panel, the first two items allow you
to easily add launchers to the panels.

When I reported the bug, the steps to reproduce were, use gedit. This
was actually such a problem that I moved to an earlier version of gedit,
I use gedit a lot. However I just clean installed today (new HDD) and
I should know soon if this is still a problem. If it happens again I
will try to put together specific steps for reproducing the bug.

[Bug 920662] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGABRT in __libc_message()

2012-02-09 Thread GNAServicesInc
Sorry I just noticed your reply. I just clean installed the daily CD
from 2/9/2012. I will report back if it happens again, so far no
problems.

I am not sure what I could do to try to reproduce the bug other then
rebooting a lot because it just sort of happened after booting. If you
have any suggestion I am willing to spend some time trying to run it
down, it's just that I really have no idea what to do.

If it dose not happen in the next couple of days I think we can assume
it is no longer an issue.

[Bug 929972] [NEW] Unable to interact with MSN contacts

2012-02-09 Thread Alan Morgan
Public bug reported:

Double clicking or right clicking on MSN contacts does not begin a
conversation with the contact or open a right-click menu as expected. It
only highlights the contact. Trying the New Conversation menu item and
choosing a contact results in a "Could not start a conversation with the
given contact" error message.

It works properly with AIM contacts.

I am using a fully updated Ubuntu 12.04 with Empathy version
3.3.5-0ubuntu1.

An example of such signatures can be seen on

Look at the objects along the right border of the page. On Windows the

Initial patch for parsing digitally signed PDFs

I have started to look at support for verifying signed PDF documents.

The attached patched gives very basic support by providing methods for
getting the signature data (/Contents), the signature type (/SubFilter
i.e. PKCS7) and the ByteRanges that the verifier needs to calculate the
digest over. Then the actual signature and certificate chain
verification is not specific to PDF and could be implemented by the
applications using any crypto library.

Also before doing getArray() and getName() you need to check with

[Bug 928762] Re: "Theme" and "Launcher" labels are hundreds of pixels away from their controls

2012-02-09 Thread Fitoschido
Right-aligned labels would solve this specific problem by setting them
nearer to its controls, as seen in the wireframe I'm attaching. But the
solution arises other problems: the 'Background' label seems out of
place, and the 'Launcher icon size' option seems to belong more in the
'Launcher' tab[1] (in the current implementation it's named 'Behavior').

[1]: I named the tabs 'General' and 'Launcher' following suggestion in
bug 928764.

[Bug 890586] Re: Right-clicking selected files appears to clear selection

2012-02-09 Thread Sam_
Workaround learned from bug 912446
e.g. select files with ctrl+left mouse, make sure the right click to access
context menu hits a file name instead of empty space, then it'll be displayed.
Usability pain happened more than once when a file name is short and already
selected but right click hits only µm near the file name there will be no
related context menu.

Make a newbie survey how many know which shortcuts to use instead. Or
rather make a reality check, take a large city council office with over
2 employees.

[Bug 918580] Re: System Settings 'User Interface' name is bad in 12.04

2012-02-09 Thread Mark East
Just had a look at the update and I have to say the System Settings
looks a lot better now that the icons have been redone to a larger size.
Impressive stuff! It reads much better with the name Appearance and
look.

I take it the decision not to move the launcher icon size into the
Universal Access section was on purpose?

[Bug 927826] Re: When a folder bookmarked in Nautilus is deleted, it doesn't disappear in the Unity quicklist inmediatelly

2012-02-09 Thread Facundo Almeida
I delete the folder from the file manager, but I don't delete the bookmark. I
think the bookmark should disappear automatically from the quicklist when I
delete its folder, but it is only my opinion.
I try to open the bookmark from the quicklist after deleting the folder,
appears a message that says "Could not find ".
