Just to fill out - in 12.04 adjusting transcoder_engine.py line 60 to gst.preset_set_app_dir("/usr/share/transmageddon/presets/") & providing a patched gst0.10-python, (gst/gst.defs), allows transmageddon to again transcode most files, exceptions noted ad nauseum elsewhere... -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to rhythmbox in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/945987 Title: No Settings are available in "Preferred format", only preset defaults are used To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gstreamer/+bug/945987/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1032892] [NEW] "Loading addressbook summary" very slow with cached online addressbook
Public bug reported: I've got a CardDAV addressbook stored in the free 'fruux' service and I've set up Evolution to use it to store my addresses. But it's very slow when writing emails. If I write the person's name in the 'to' box, it's very slow to recognise the name and add an underline to indicate it's been recognised. If I click the 'to' button and attempt to search for a name, the bottom of the dialog shows "Loading address book summary" and it takes 10-20 seconds until the my search result appears. I'm using a slow (3G phone) internet connection, but I have the address book set with "copy book content locally for offline operation". However, it appears that when I'm on a *slow* connection, it ignores the local copy and keeps using the online copy regardless. Is there some way that this situation could be improved, so that the online content is only synchronised periodically, and not every time I add an email address to a new email? I'm using latest Evolution 3.2.3 on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. ** Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evolution in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1032892 Title: "Loading addressbook summary" very slow with cached online addressbook To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+bug/1032892/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 900324] Re: apparmor profile provides too much access
Unfortunately, evince needs access to the X server. Since apparmor doesn't yet support XACE or equivalent this means that evince can still launch keylogging and keyspoofing attacks. I think our first priority should be stopping evince from sending keypresses to a terminal in the background (which is is on the roadmap for apparmor I understand). Once we do that we can think about fixing this bug right, e.g. using the LD_PRELOAD trick Plash uses to replace the GTK file/open save dialog box with one that passes the rights to the file the user selects (and only the file the user selects). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/900324 Title: apparmor profile provides too much access To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evince/+bug/900324/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1032680] [NEW] "Send To" function replaces spaces in file name with 0s and consequently cannot find the file when attempting to email it
Public bug reported: Evince 3.4 on Ubuntu 12.04 When I try to email a PDF with spaces in the file name, Evince tells me that the file does not exist and so could not be attached. Steps to reproduce: 1) Open the PDF file with spaces in the file name, e.g. "GNOME Rules.pdf", with Evince. 2) In Evince, click the File menu. On the file menu click Send To... item. The Send To dialog appears. 3) On the Send To dialog, in the Destination section, Email will be selected in the "Send as:" dropdown list. In the "Send to:" textbox, enter a valid email address. 4) On the Send To dialog, click the Send button. Actual results: The File Attach error message will appear, stating that the PDF file you were trying to send does not exist and so could not be attached. In the File Attach dialog you will notice that spaces in the file name have been replaced by 0s. This is the reason why the program cannot find the file. Expected results: A new email message composing window from the default email client should appear, with the email address entered in to Send To dialog appearing in the To field, and with the PDF document attached. [Bug 1032500] Re: Natural scrolling not working in Empathy contact list window
Right now I can not create a video nor share my desktop so I will try to explain the problem in more details. Imagine to have a vanilla Ubuntu, you open a terminal and type dmesg. If you have a trackpad with double fingers scrolling enabled and you want to see what dmesg printed first, you need to place two fingers at the bottom of the trackpad and swipe them to the top. Now, if you want to enable natural scrolling (i.e. swipe top-down to scroll a page up, like in smartphones or tablets), you can for example use Xmodmap and use that settings contained in the bug description. If you open again a terminal and try to follow the steps presented above, you will notice that to scroll the terminal up, you will have to swipe top-down. That means hich means that the Xmodmap setting has been properly honored by gnome-terminal. Now back to the Empathy problem: once you enable natural scrolling, it works properly inside chat windows only: if you open the contact list, place the scrollbar at the top and try to swipe bottom-up to reach the bottom of the list, you won't notice any scrollbar movement. On the other hand, if you swipe top-down, the scrollbar starts to move to the bottom of the contact list as if the Xmodmap setting was not honored at all. Let me know if this description shed some light on the problem. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to empathy in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1032500 Title: Natural scrolling not working in Empathy contact list window To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/empathy/+bug/1032500/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 987220] Re: System does not power off reliably when "Shut Down" chosen from GUI
I am now using the nvidia driver again because the PC gets very hot when using the nouveau driver (power management is not implemented so it always runs at 100%). It appears that the shutdown issue is only present in version 295.49 of the nvidia driver. Not sure if this is the recommended place to do so, but I would like to add that that bookmarking behaviour was not at all obvioius to me either.
