[Bug 1051877] Re: invalid cast followed by double free

2012-09-17 Thread Florian Hars
I can reliably reproduce the behaviour (the steps are sufficient, but
not all may be necessary):

1. Grab a screenshot
2. Crop to a small part of the image
3. File-Save as... and save to a png with default settings
4. Ctrl-Z do undo crop
5. Crop to a different part of the image
6. File-Save as... and save to a png with default settings

The second file will be saved, then gimp crashes.

I attach a gdb backtrace with debug symbols.

[Bug 740506]

2012-09-17 Thread Chpe
qt can link to openssl because its lgpl licence has an openssl
exception, and not because dlopening would make it not 'link' to
openssl. poppler has no such openssl exception; and even if it did, that
wouldn't help the programmes using poppler which are gpl (e.g. evince)
without such an exception.

[Bug 740506]

2012-09-17 Thread André Guerreiro
So if I understood correctly Qt is only using the dlopen approach to overcome
restrictions to crypto exports but not (L)GPL incompatibilities, like stated
here:
http://qt-project.org/doc/qt-4.8/ssl.html

Getting back to our point I'll need the definitive opinion from Poppler
maintainers on using dlopen'ed openssl or replacing it with NSS.

Both options are extra work but I'm willing to do the extra mile to get
this accepted.

[Bug 740506]

2012-09-17 Thread Carlos Garcia Campos
(In reply to comment #26)
What's missing in gnutls is a way to parse all the relevant components of the
PKCS#7 object as present in a PDF signature.

It seems that in gnutls they assume those objects can only contain
 certificates
and CRLs as you can confirm if you go through the functions that take
 gnutls_pkcs7_t as argument.

With openssl you can get the certificates, signature, and the digest of the
signed content (these are the essential parts for detached signatures as used
in PDF) as well as any optional timestamps or CRLs.

Would it be a lot of work to add support for that to gnutls?

2012-09-17 Thread Albert Astals Cid
Maintainer hat on: I think it'd be easier for all if you can use NSS
(now that gnutls has been ruled out because of lack of functionality).
https://wiki.mozilla.org/NSS_Shared_DB_And_LINUX states a way to use the
shared nss certificate, and seems that chrome is using that too
http://code.google.com/p/chromium/wiki/LinuxCertManagement so it is not
that bad.

What do you think?

Replying to myself:

KaL I wonder if it could be useful for glib-networking to implement the
missing things in gnutls, or if we don't need that at all
danw reading...
danw chpe, KaL_out: both gnutls and glib-networking intentionally only do
TLS, not crypto in general, so I don't think it makes sense to add the extra
PKCS#7 functionality to either of them
danw NSS would be better than OpenSSL, and once all the p11-kit /
NSS-shared-DB stuff gets figured out fully, then NSS-based apps will be able to
access your gnome-keyring certificates via PKCS#11

[Bug 1039889] Re: apport-gtk crashed with configparser.DuplicateOptionError in _read(): While reading from /usr/share/applications/gnome-system-monitor.desktop [line 17]: option 'keywords' in section

2012-09-17 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package apport - 2.5.2-0ubuntu1

---
apport (2.5.2-0ubuntu1) quantal; urgency=low

  * New upstream release:
- Fix crash on broken .desktop files. (LP: #1039889)
- apport-gtk: For console program crashes, say stopped instead of
closed. Add a subtitle label with a hint about hanging programs.
Thanks Matt Price and Matthew Paul Thomas!
- report.py: Fix crash on determination of Python module path when
examining a crash of python -m
- apport-kde: Fix crash with undefined QString under Python 3. Thanks
  Jonathan Riddell! (LP: #1028984)
- launchpad.py: Add missing Pre-release Freeze status. Thanks Brian
  Murray!
- report.py, _check_bug_pattern(): Fix bug pattern matching against binary
values. Thanks Brian Murray for the original patch. (LP: #1016380)
  * debian/control: Move x-terminal-emulator dependency from apport-retrace to
-gtk and -kde. It's those which actually spawn an X terminal for
apport-retrace to run in, and this lessens the dependencies for
apport-retrace on server type systems.
  * Add debian/apport.maintscript: Clean up obsolete precise conffile
/etc/apport/native-origins.d/lts-q-backports on upgrades. (LP: #1049058)
  * data/general-hooks/ubuntu.py: Fix PEP-8 errors.

[Bug 892629] Re: package python-gobject 3.0.0-0ubuntu4 failed to install/upgrade: ErrorMessage: dependency problems - leaving unconfigured

2012-09-17 Thread Martin Pitt
This fails because of a long dependency chain, all of those packages
cannot be installed: python-gobject - libglib2.0-0 - libselinux1 -
libmount1/libblkid1 - libuuid1 - passwd. Apparently there is a
circular dependency between libselinux1 and passwd. IMHO libuuid1 must
not depend on passwd, that seems wrong.

Really? why? I agree with not committing it to the stable branch, but I
don't think the patch breaks the API, or am I missing something?

[Bug 1034620] Re: Python crashes with valuerror

2012-09-17 Thread Martin Pitt
I tried to check out lp:floaty, and ran

$ ./floaty-client

(floaty-client:20924): GLib-GIO-ERROR **: Settings schema
'com.klacansky.FloatyClient' is not installed

Is there a trick to run it out of the build tree?

Not sure what floaty-client does around it, but the core of the problem
seems to be

$ python3 -c 'from gi.repository import Clutter;
print(Clutter.AnimationMode.EASE_IN_EXPO)'
enum CLUTTER_EASE_IN_EXPO of type ClutterAnimationMode

which seems to trigger this ValueError for you. Does the current floaty-
client still have that problem, and if so, does above command work for
you?

[Bug 1051973] [NEW] Quantal B1 gedit new file name got /var/crash

2012-09-17 Thread jerrylamos
Public bug reported:

Quantal had Firefox and terminal and pcmanfm up, in terminal did gedit
new file name and got /var/crash. Automatic apport started however lost
internet briefly, and when internet came back Apport had quit so I did
ubuntu-bug gedit. Is that the way to process the /var/crash to
launchpad?

In the middle of this mess there was a red banner saying gedit couldn't
find a long file name with folders that might have been something I
had looked at previously with pcmanfm. Wierd, like gedit didn't create
a new file name but somehow searched around and picked something up from
pcmanfm?

Tried it again, and repeated, had pcmanfm up and did gedit test where
test is a new file name.

[Bug 1028115] Re: Gdk.cairo_region_create_from_surface() raises an error in GI

2012-09-17 Thread Koichi Akabe
Hi,

Thanks for reporting. I'm considering positively to apply this patch in
py3cairo, but I can't use my pc with the internet until Thursday.

Martin, could you forward this bug to debian BTS? I'll close it in the
new package.

[Bug 1051027] Re: MacBookAir3, 1 loses desktop background image after suspend/resume

2012-09-17 Thread Sean Sosik-Hamor
Bryce,

It is reproducible and happens every time I sleep/resume. It's similar
to another bug I encountered a while ago in Oneiric and for a while in
Natty Beta 1 where the background would disappear on sleep/resume but,
if I left-clicked anywhere on the Dekstop, the image would reappear.
That's not the case with this manifestation; the background disappears
until I re-select it from Appearance.

By the way, I tried Shotwell today, looking for the Publish to Picasa
