Got a fix with that upgrade:

glib2.0 (2.33.12-4) experimental; urgency=low

  * debian/patches/03_disble_glib_compile_schemas_warning.patch: Add a new
patch to disable a warning when compiling schemas which are installed into
'deprecated' locations. Users see this very often due to
glib-compile-schemas being called from libglib2.0-0's trigger and it is
not very useful for them.

[Bug 1053242] [NEW] gedit terminal plugin doesnt work properly

2012-09-20 Thread Filip Malczak
Public bug reported:

Terminal does take input and output, but doesnt show them.
Actually, echo doesn't show anything (even after I mark all terminal area, it's
not the matter of font color the same as background), but ls does, as folder
names are bolded.
I haven't made any more tests, as I found out it's known issue.

[Bug 819842] Re: Commands in the background are terminated after closing the terminal

2012-09-20 Thread Sworddragon
Are you sure that this is the correct behavior? Some time before I have
opened this ticket it worked like expected: If I have started an
application in the background I could close the terminal without closing
the application. The only explanation would be that another process
become the new parent (maybe init). At least the BadWindow error doesn't
appear anymore. But a workaround is to use nohup which will still keep
the application open.

Yes.

Some programs take special measures for this; most do not. You should
not expect any process started from a specific shell to survive after
you exit that shell. If you want to start an arbitrary program, use
the run dialog (ALT-F2) – this is what it's for.

The only explanation would be that another process
become the new parent (maybe init).

Not init (exit from the desktop session and see that the program in
question is closed).

I have never thought to use this but it is a good idea.

I don't know it but with nohup the process will be a direct child of
init after closing the terminal. But at least I have now some ways to
solve this problem and with the BadWindow message fixed here is nothing
more to do.

[Bug 819842] Re: Commands in the background are terminated after closing the terminal

2012-09-20 Thread Sworddragon
If so then do not use nohup for this purpose.

Is there a special reason? For example I'm opening htop to watch the
process list and after this I'm opening a new terminal and executing
nohup scite /dev/null 21 in it:

| /sbin/init
|- x-terminal-emulator -e htop
|-- /bin/bash
|--- scite
| ...

After closing the terminal:

| /sbin/init
|- scite
| ...

Calling scite directly with Alt+F2:

| /sbin/init
|- scite
| ...

So there is no difference for me.

[Bug 1033275] Re: gvfsd-sftp crashed with SIGSEGV in fast_validate() if the target host is not in .ssh/known_hosts

2012-09-20 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package gvfs - 1.13.9-0ubuntu1

---
gvfs (1.13.9-0ubuntu1) quantal; urgency=low

  * New upstream release:
- Some code cleanup
- Lots of translation updates
- Bug fixes
- gmountsource: Always use NULL-terminated arrays (LP: #1033275)
- Remove final parts of libdbus (LP: #932935)
  * Disable 04_hurd_path_max.patch; not required for Ubuntu and does not apply
any more.
  * Update 05_shared_libdaemon.patch for new upstream version.
  * Drop check-gdu-pool.patch, applied upstream.
  * Update build_old_libgphoto.patch for new upstream version.
  * debian/gvfs-backends.install: libgvfscommon-dnssd.so, not installed any
more (it's just an internal library).
  * debian/control.in: Bump glib build dependency as per configure.ac.
  * debian/tests/gvfs-test: Rename Sftp.test_localhost() to test_rsa(), and
factor out the checks on the gvfs mount.
  * debian/tests: Direct sshd log into a file, and cat it if there are test
failures.
  * debian/tests/gvfs-test: Add test case for RSA authentication for unknown
host. This reproduces the crash in LP #1033275.

[Bug 1046461] Re: [UIFe][FFe] Shotwell integration with Online Accounts, bug 1046461

2012-09-20 Thread David Planella
Al 17/09/12 15:00, En/na Alberto Mardegan ha escrit:
 Hi all!
I'm requesting a freeze exception to land a couple of improvements to
the integration of Shotwell with Online Accounts:

(the context is uploading an image from Shotwell to some online service
 supported by Online Accounts)

 * The service selector should display multiple entries for the service
with the username associated with the account in the selector.

 * As last option in the service selection we add Add new account...,
which opens the Online Account applet.

 * Login/Logout button in the publishing dialog isn't necessary anymore,
 it's now removed.

 Ciao,
   Alberto

Multiple account support is broken, if a user has more than one account
for facebook it just uses the first account returned from UOA.

This sounds like a serious bug that needs fixing. +1 from translators.

Cheers,
David.

#80635. Please disable flow-control by default.

This bug is *not* a duplicate of bug #80635. Please disable flow-
control by default. This bug, #48880, is about Ctrl+S doing forward-
search-history. For example, executing stty stop ^X you can use
Ctrl+S to forward-search-history and *also* you have flow-control (using
Ctrl+X to freeze the flow-control). That's because those bugs are
different.

[Bug 871985] Re: The printing panel shouldn't display errors about firewalld not running

2012-09-20 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Mike, why do you think we have to have a file named /etc/NetworkManager
/nm-system-settings.conf ?

Reading the attached GNOME report, it sounds like this may be fixed in
gnome-control-center 3.6 (System Settings), but we'll still be using 3.4
for Ubuntu 12.10.

[Bug 1041032] Re: An error occurred Location not found after automatically installing the missing gstreamer plugins.

2012-09-20 Thread Iain Lane
Hey FourDollars, I tried your patch (after uploading sessioninstaller
for #1042231), but I still can't get it to work. It seems like the uri
and suburi can't be retrieved from ctx-bvw when trying to reload the
file.

,
| uri: (null)
| suburi: (null)
|
| ** (totem:21923): CRITICAL **: bacon_video_widget_open: assertion `mrl !=
NULL' failed
`

I had to backport the upstream patch to separate out subtitle loading
from the loading of the main video file, so maybe something went wrong
there.

Do you have any clue or a working port of your patch to Quantal's totem?
:-)

@ Paul D Smyth - Thanks for your comment. I changed the gstreamer task
to Fix Released based on comment #49 in this bug. Can you check that
you have all of the following installed:

gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg
gstreamer0.10-plugins-bad
gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly

If you have all of the above installed and are still getting the bug can
you please provide steps to reproduce. If you can also provide a small
example video file that would be even better.

This is fixed in the Quantal version of rhythmbox although the display

If you want to see this fixed in precise you'll need to find this commit
'fixed in commit dcf67f0' from upstream and incorporate it into the
Precise version of the package.

[Bug 819304] Re: gvfsd-cdda crashed with signal 5 in _g_dbus_oom()

2012-09-20 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Timo, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gvfs into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gvfs/1.12.1-0ubuntu1.1
in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from
verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the
tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing
will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Bug 871985] Re: The printing panel shouldn't display errors about firewalld not running

2012-09-20 Thread Mathieu Trudel-Lapierre
Jeremy, mike: it doesn't. NetworkManager.conf is the new, correct name
for the file. If some application is expecting a different value (and
one would wonder why they go out to look for that file in the first
place); then it's that application that needs fixing.

If a part of the control center in Gnome (not unity?) requires
firewalld, then I'm sure there's a way to disable that check, which is
something that should be considered anyway since we're at the very least
not going to have firewalld for Quantal. (We have ufw instead)

[Bug 838792] Re: Restart logs out, even when there are no other people logged in

2012-09-20 Thread Kristian Leibrich
I have had this error for a while now. Sometimes the terminal sessions
don't seem to work after using the shut down-button.

I find it odd too, that pulseaudio doesn't seem to shut down successfully.
syslog shortly after failed shut down (and login again, because terminal
session didn't work this time):
Sep 21 00:15:37 PC-Kristian-Linux pulseaudio[6999]: [pulseaudio] pid.c: Daemon
already running.

None of the suggestions above worked for me. (still typing sudo init 0)
