[Bug 758335] Re: gdm ignores keyboard input because Slow Keys was secretly turned on
I consider myself an experienced user and had a very hard time figuring out this. I have had this problem many times, and the only solution I figured out until now was to reboot. The problem is "Slow Keys" are being enabled in GDM even though I'm long ago logged in, and that anti-feature should be controled by Gnome-Shell, not GDM once logged in. By the way: this bug and bug #41427 are very closely related. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/758335 Title: gdm ignores keyboard input because Slow Keys was secretly turned on To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm/+bug/758335/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1190253] Re: Nautilus no Description in Startup Services (gnome-session-properties)
You are correct. This was discovered trom several Ubuntu forum threads where users are trying to speed up their startup by modifying the 'Nodisplay=true' to 'false'. However, I was using this report to highlight the issues for ALL the autostart services, which is to say all of them should have a proper heading and description, e.g. orca, gwibber, onboard, etc, which a large number of users prefer not to use. So it is mainly for the sake of streamlining and easing the life of Ubuntu users once they get past their first experimenting with Ubuntu. I provide support for replacing Windows with Ubuntu, where users tend to point at boot times with Windows. I can provide you with the english and french comments for the missing autostart comments :-) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1190253 Title: Nautilus no Description in Startup Services (gnome-session-properties) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1190253/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1190253] [NEW] Nautilus no Description in Startup Services (gnome-session-properties)
Public bug reported: There is no description in the Startup Services for nautilus in gnome- session-properties (from gnome-session-bin), which attempts to display startup applications using the 'Comment' field of the nautilus- autostart.desktop file. This file does not contain a 'Comment' descriptor, resulting in a 'No Description' message in the startup services. The fix for this is to add the 'Comment' line in the nautilus- autostart.desktop file so it is displayed properly by gnome-session- properties. The /etc/xdg/autostart/nautilus-autostart.desktop file should be modified from (English): [Desktop Entry] Type=Application Name=Files Exec=nautilus -n OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity; AutostartCondition=GSettings org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons NoDisplay=true X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=nautilus To : [Desktop Entry] Type=Application Name=Files (Nautilus File Manager) Comment=Set Nautilus to open uri's in new window Exec=nautilus -n OnlyShowIn=GNOME;Unity; AutostartCondition=GSettings org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons NoDisplay=true X-Ubuntu-Gettext-Domain=nautilus Several users keep asking what the service 'Files' does in the Startup Applications. This should eliminate the users confusion. This also applies to a number of other .desktop files in the /etc/xdg/autostart directory, such as ubuntuone, orca, gnome-settings- daemon, onboard, AT-SPI DBUS-1 Dbus, etc ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1190253 Title: Nautilus no Description in Startup Services (gnome-session-properties) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1190253/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
