[Bug 1238457] [NEW] yelp INFO:foo produces forkbomb

[Bug 1238634] [NEW] Nautilus 3.8 does not properly handle file associations to 'Open with'
Public bug reported: Ubuntu Saucy Salamander 13.10 Beta amd64, fully updated 2013-10-09 Nautilus 3.8.2 (I don't have a machine running Saucy at this moment to attach more details, sorry.) Nautilus since 3.8.0 completely ignores .desktop files that contain NoDisplay=true, which is used in Ubuntu by all applications that handle mime types but whose icons must not show up on the dash (or menu). The use of NoDisplay=true is recommended by Freedesktop.org ( http://standards.freedesktop.org/desktop-entry-spec/desktop-entry-spec- latest.html#recognized-keys ), but GNOME devs said this was inconsistent and 'fixed' it: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=696372 This has broken a lot of open with associations in Saucy. Steps to reproduce, taking Wine as an example of installed package that uses a .desktop file to register 'wine windows program loader' as an optional application to open with Windows-exe mime types: - If Wine is installed, in Nautilus it does not even appear as an open with option for .exe mime type. No way to select it. - Using Ubuntu Tweak's 'file associations manager', Wine appears and is selectable in the list of .exe handlers, looks normal, you can select it and then it shows up in Nautilus open with set as the default. Everything works ok, but... - If in Nautilus you change back the .exe open with option to file-roller (or anything else), then Wine instantaneously disappears from the applications list. - The same happens with default base install applications like gnome-disk-image-mounter and Archive Mounter open with for .iso mime type (at first I even thought they were scrapped from Saucy). I did a quick and dirty hack to restore Nautilus' open with functionality: NoDisplay=true must be replaced by NotShowIn=Unity in each .desktop file that must be hidden. Of course this only works for Unity, but I think it is possible to use OnlyShowIn=WriteHereAnyInexistentDesktopEnvironmentName to emulate the same effect of NoDisplay=true (I didn't test this). ** Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: saucy -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1238634 Title: Nautilus 3.8 does not properly handle file associations to 'Open with' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1238634/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1236089] Re: Nautilus does not sense the presence of wine
This bug is not related specifically to Wine, it affects all of the open with mime bindings in Saucy's Nautilus 3.8 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1238634 I was having a heck of a hard time trying to configure open with in Nautilus (and also using Ubuntu Tweak's file associations option), Nautilus was behaving totally nuts. It turns out that this is one more 'improvement' in upstream Nautilus. Now it completely ignores .desktop files that contain NoDisplay=true, which is used by all applications that handle mime types but whose icons don't show up on the dash. Being Saucy in a RC-like status, this bug seems pretty UGLY and I'm surprised not finding any other reports about it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1236089 Title: Nautilus does not sense the presence of wine To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1236089/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 518056] Re: cedilla appears as accented c (ć instead of ç) when typing 'c
My problem is: while using the US layout, the behavior is the same on Windows. To me, ok, but when, as you guys, I put other non-tech people using Ubuntu, it's a problem. On Windows, when I use US international, and I type '+c, I get ç. When I type '+I, I get I'. So, I can type portuguese and US stuff (for programming) with no problem. But, as we're discussing here, the behavior is different on Ubuntu. Not sure if it's a bug, appears to be the Ubuntu way. Anyway, I changed this (I'm using 12.04 LTS). I did a bunch of stuff, not sure if all this is really required. Please, correct me I'm wrong or doing unnecessary steps. I used this .XCompose file in my home folder: http://www.raelcunha.com/.XCompose Then I included in my .bash_profile and .profile: export GTK_IM_MODULE=xim export QT_IM_MODULE=xim Then I asked to Ubuntu use xim: im-switch -s default-xim Then I installed ibus-table-compose: sudo apt-get install ibus-table-compose Then logout and login. [Bug 1061195] Re: Can't create EWS or MAPI account
I can confirm using Xubuntu and Evolution 3.6.4 and Evolution-ews after going through the Mail Account wizard was not seeing any accounts. [Bug 1227920] Re: after suspend/resume, the Unity HUD is always open when I unlock the screen
I have 1 machine where this occurs 100 % of the time. It's been doing this since at least when I filed bug on a month ago, probably a week or 2 longer than that. Several days ago added a new install to same machine happened to notice it no longer occurs. So the diff here seems to be 'upower', specifically libupower-glib1 With upower packages (3 here) from upower_0.9.21-3ubuntu2 it always occurs With packages from 0..9.22-1 it never occurs If I downgrade to upower_0.9.21-3ubuntu2, log out/in, it comes back, upgrading to 0.9.22-1, log out/in, it stops Maybe it's just this hardware where the above affects don't know, overall g-s-d is causing a number of small issues anyway. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-settings-daemon in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1227920 Title: after suspend/resume, the Unity HUD is always open when I unlock the screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/1227920/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1239010] Re: gnome-settings activation freezes computer
After further analysis I believe the problem is in the integrated video: nvidia 6150se nforce 430.
