[Bug 1236619] Re: gvfs smb / cifs file copy performance is terribly slow
Not sure, but this may be of help (at least for finding the cause): I use Debian and experienced slow transfer and eventually hangs while copying large amonts both on CIFS and iSCSC (on the same server), with cp, rsync and Nautilus copy. But... with gnome-commander it runs smoothly. In my situation it seems to be the speed of the server. With small amounts it's OK and 60 - 70 MB/s. With large amounts it started at the same speed, but then dropped, eventually to almost zero. Gnome-commander did about 30 MB/s, but carried on. And now... mounting the server with the sync option gave the stability to cp, rsync. 30MB/s, but stable. At my work, I compared a fast and a slow server. It's no surprise that the slow server did not collapse. So my conclusions: Slow servers probably get overloaded with the (default) nosync option. Th buffers just cannot handle the large amounts. Adapt your options to the server speed and your needs. I see gvfs-trash file on Xubuntu. I read the gvfs-man page and found this paragraph, trash sends files or directories to the Trashcan. This can be a different folder depending on where the file is located, and not all file systems support this concept. [Bug 1437885] Re: gnome-panel crashes while swapping openttd screen modes
Thanks for your bug report. Can you reproduce this bug with the latest Ubuntu release? Precise is too old, and it's unlikely that it will get any fixes for gnome-panel. ** Changed in: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-panel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1437885 Title: gnome-panel crashes while swapping openttd screen modes To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-panel/+bug/1437885/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1445954] [NEW] Sorting of folders by modification date is meaningless
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce - open a folder that contains subfolders (and optionally files), of which at least some contains in turn at least a couple of levels of subfolders with files inside it - select list view - click on the modified column to sort items by modification date Expected: * both the files and folders should be ordered by modification date. For folders, modification date should be the date of last modification of the item most recently modified inside the folder, RECURSIVELY. That is, for example, the folder containing the file most recently modified, at ANY level of its subtree, should be considered the most recently modified folder Observed: * Files stright inside the current folder are ordered correctly, but folders are ordered in a seemingly random manner. Often, the folder that you'd expect to be on the top of the list (in reverse chronological order) is pretty close, but many times it's not, and the overall sorting certainly doesn't satisfy the expected criteria. I suspect the modification dates of items inside the folders are taken into account but not recursively. If that is the case, it's a meaningless and hence wrong criteria. [Bug 1445956] [NEW] File Roller fails to prompt user to install correct package (7z)
Public bug reported: I had a .7z (encrypted) archive I needed to open. At first attempt, file roller informed me that an additional package was required to manage that archive format (don't remember which one, I'm sorry). I let it install the software but I wasn't able to extract the software anyway. All I got was an error message and not even a password request. Only after I checked via the terminal whether the .7z codec was installed, apt told me that the package p7zip-full was required. I installed p7zip-full and File roller went smoothly after that. I think that archive manager should have triggered the installation of p7zip-full itself. Thank you for your work Alessandro ** Affects: file-roller (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to file-roller in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1445956 Title: File Roller fails to prompt user to install correct package (7z) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/file-roller/+bug/1445956/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
