[Bug 1438301] Re: suspends after a few minutes on machines with a bogus (closed) lid switch

2015-04-19 Thread Martin Pitt
Let's call this wontfix for now, as this is broken hardware, there is a
workaround, and in general we do want to suspend if the lid is closed.

Note that with bug 1444166 fixed this interval will actually get down to
30s.

[Bug 1441253] Re: hanging suspend job prevents shutdown

2015-04-19 Thread Martin Pitt
We don't want to shutdown while a suspend is running, and vice versa.
This would be confusing and could lead to data loss in the worst case.
Can you please instead file a bug against the kernel about the btrfs
failure? We should fix suspend/the file system properly :-)

Note that you can still shutdown with reboot -f or poweroff -f.

[Bug 1236619] Re: gvfs smb / cifs file copy performance is terribly slow

2015-04-19 Thread Remmilou
Not sure, but this may be of help (at least for finding the cause):
I use Debian and experienced slow transfer and eventually hangs while copying
large amonts both on CIFS and iSCSC (on the same server), with cp, rsync and
Nautilus copy. But... with gnome-commander it runs smoothly.
In my situation it seems to be the speed of the server. With small amounts it's
OK and 60 - 70 MB/s. With large amounts it started at the same speed, but then
dropped, eventually to almost zero. Gnome-commander did about 30 MB/s, but
carried on.
And now... mounting the server with the sync option gave the stability to cp,
rsync. 30MB/s, but stable.
At my work, I compared a fast and a slow server. It's no surprise that the slow
server did not collapse.
So my conclusions:
Slow servers probably get overloaded with the (default) nosync option. Th
buffers just cannot handle the large amounts.
Adapt your options to the server speed and your needs.

[Bug 1433563] [NEW] QAudioRecorder recording hangs

2015-04-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Recording audio with QAudioRecorder intermittently fails for me. Another
user even reported that it only works 1 out of 5-10 times.

QAudioRecorder seems to hang on requesting the audio to be recorded
(status QMediaRecortder::StartingStatus). When it actually works, it
properly goes from starting to recording and then it's possible to
record audio and playback.

QAudioRecorder has an error() method, but it returns
QMediaRecorder::NoError

Since it was confirmed by two people (victorp, karni) we suspect it's a
bug in the middleware rather than the apps.

A test click has been sent to Ricardo's e-mail by Victor.

Re: [Bug 1445622] Re: [Xubuntu vivid daily] Trash directory unable to be found

2015-04-19 Thread Istimsak
I see gvfs-trash file on Xubuntu. I read the gvfs-man page and found this
paragraph,

trash sends files or directories to the Trashcan. This can be a
different folder depending on where the file is located, and not all file
systems support this concept. In the common case that the file lives inside
a users home directory, the trash folder is $XDG_DATA_HOME/Trash.

There was no variable named $XDG_DATA_HOME/Trash.

I am thinking, gvfs was unable to label the file as located in trash. Wish
I was a developer. I would really like to know

[Bug 1401909] Re: Segmentation fault (core dumped)

2015-04-19 Thread Isaac Eiland-Hall
I've just started experiencing this issue in the last day or two. I have
no clue what I did to break a previously working Synapse. I'm crushed by
its loss. :(

[Bug 1292398] Re: Second screen position isn't saved from one session to another

2015-04-19 Thread suoko
I compared the gnome-settings-daemon.install file in the gnome-settings-
daemon package from trusty with the utopic one and found some
differences:

UTOPIC

etc/xdg/autostart
usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon*
usr/share/dbus-1/services
usr/share/icons
usr/share/locale
usr/share/gnome-settings-daemon*
usr/share/polkit-1
debian/source_gnome-settings-daemon.py /usr/share/apport/package-hooks

TRUSTY

etc
usr/lib/gnome-settings-daemon*
usr/share/dbus-1
usr/share/icons
usr/share/locale
usr/share/gnome-settings-daemon
usr/share/polkit-1
debian/source_gnome-settings-daemon.py /usr/share/apport/package-hooks

Could that missing /xdg/autostart in the Trusty package be the problem
?

any fixes for gnome-panel.

[Bug 1445954] [NEW] Sorting of folders by modification date is meaningless

2015-04-19 Thread Teo
Public bug reported:

Steps to reproduce

- open a folder that contains subfolders (and optionally files), of which at
least some contains in turn at least a couple of levels of subfolders with
files inside it
- select list view
- click on the modified column to sort items by modification date

Expected:
* both the files and folders should be ordered by modification date. For
folders, modification date should be the date of last modification of the item
most recently modified inside the folder, RECURSIVELY. That is, for example,
the folder containing the file most recently modified, at ANY level of its
subtree, should be considered the most recently modified folder

Observed:
* Files stright inside the current folder are ordered correctly, but folders
are ordered in a seemingly random manner. Often, the folder that you'd expect
to be on the top of the list (in reverse chronological order) is pretty close,
but many times it's not, and the overall sorting certainly doesn't satisfy the
expected criteria.

I suspect the modification dates of items inside the folders are taken
into account but not recursively. If that is the case, it's a
meaningless and hence wrong criteria.

[Bug 1445956] [NEW] File Roller fails to prompt user to install correct package (7z)

2015-04-19 Thread Alessandro Tocci
Public bug reported:

I had a .7z (encrypted) archive I needed to open. At first attempt, file
roller informed me that an additional package was required to manage
that archive format (don't remember which one, I'm sorry).

I let it install the software but I wasn't able to extract the software
anyway. All I got was an error message and not even a password request.

Only after I checked via the terminal whether the .7z codec was
installed, apt told me that the package p7zip-full was required.

I installed p7zip-full and File roller went smoothly after that.

I think that archive manager should have triggered the installation of
p7zip-full itself.

Thank you for your work
