[Bug 1458383] Re: gnome-disk-utilty does not allow swapoff of zram devices

2016-01-27 Thread Phill Whiteside
This is expected behaviour within Lubuntu where the RAM overhead is
quite large compared to what lubuntu itself needs to run. Where this not
used, the minimal RAM for running a Live instance would be greater than
we currently state as required.

[Bug 1536208] Re: Can no longer find dlna server after upgrade from 15.10 to 16.04

2016-01-27 Thread Jamie Strandboge
** Description changed:

  From irc:
08:28 < jdstrand> Laney: question for you-- just otoh, can you think of a
reason why dlna wouldn't work on xenial in rhythmbox any more when it has the
same upstream version as wily (and the Ubuntu delta didn't have any relevant
changes), grilo is the same as wily and grilo-plugins only has one irrelevant
change over wily?
08:29 < jdstrand> (it the dleyna code in grilo that handles this afaik)
08:30 < jdstrand> Laney: the dlna server just doesn't show up any more (but
daap still does)
  08:33 < jdstrand> I have both forked-daapd and minidlna exporting
08:33 < jdstrand> and rhythmbox used to see both on wily. on xenial, it only
sees daap

This may be a bug in grilo or grilo-plugins since, AIUI, it is the
dleyna code in grilo-plugins that handles this. It appears that grilo
relies on dleyna-server and dleyna-server isn't able to find the server
- any more. I tried on a separate wily install to see if it would work and
- it wasn't able to find it.
+ any more. I tried on a separate wily install and it wasn't able to find
+ it.

Coming up with a reproducer was more difficult than I thought it would
  be.

  1. minidlna server setup
  $ sudo apt-get install minidlna

  Adjust /etc/minidlna.conf to have:
  media_dir=A,/path/to/some/music/files

I believe everything else can be left as defaults.

  2. rhythmbox setup
  $ sudo apt-get install grilo-plugins-0.2-extra rhythmbox-plugins dleyna-server

  stop and start rhythmbox

go into Tools/Plugins and check Grilo media browser

This was all I needed to do initially for it to start working. Now it
now longer works. Android devices and 'kodi' from Ubuntu can find and
use it fine. Using d-feet and going to 'com.intel.dleyna-server' and
into com.intel.dLeynaServer.Manager and looking at 'GetServers' returns
nothing. Looking at Rescan() triggers traffic (as seen with tcpcump)
with the server (ie, there are responses). Looking at an strace of
/usr/lib/dleyna-server/dleyna-server-service shows it got a response
from the minidlna server. I guess the problem is in dleyna-server. There
is a new upstream version (0.5), but it is newer than what is in Debian.

Apparently minidlna is installed in Netgear devices and other places and
  is quite popular.

[Bug 1536751] Re: QML Unreadable small fonts on 1366x768 screen

2016-01-27 Thread Timo Jyrinki
The possible suspects below, from qtbase build dependencies.

package   |  vivid| xenial
fontconfig | 2.11.1-0ubuntu6 | 2.11.1-0ubuntu6
freetype | 2.5.2-2ubuntu3.1 | 2.5.2-4ubuntu2
harfbuzz | 0.9.37-1 | 1.0.1-1build2

harfbuzz could be the most likely suspect. However, also wily has
1.0.1-1build2 - could you test the issue on wily? If it's broken there
too, I could try to help by forward-porting old harfbuzz to xenial. But
if it's not broken there, then it's probably not harfbuzz and also not
freetype or fontconfig (same versions in wily and xenial of all them).

release because it was never fixed, a new bug report must be created.

[Bug 1538681] [NEW] custom pre/post suspend scripts shoud not live in /lib

2016-01-27 Thread Bas Zoetekouw
Public bug reported:

The systemd-sleep manpage mentions the following:

Finally, systemd-hybrid-sleep.service is pulled in by hybrid-
sleep.target to execute hybrid hibernation with system suspend.

Immediately before entering system suspend and/or hibernation
systemd-suspend.service (and the other mentioned units, respectively) will run
all executables in /lib/systemd/system-sleep/ and pass two arguments to them.
The first argument
will be "pre", the second either "suspend", "hibernate", or
"hybrid-sleep" depending on the chosen action. Immediately after leaving system
suspend and/or hibernation the same executables are run, but the first argument
is now "post". All
executables in this directory are executed in parallel, and execution of
the action is not continued until all executables have finished.

Note that scripts or binaries dropped in /lib/systemd/system-sleep/ are
intended for local use only and should be considered hacks. If applications
want to be notified of system suspend/hibernation and resume, there are much
nicer interfaces
   available.

It is unfortunate that such "hacks" are generally still required to get a
laptop to suspend/hibernate and resume correctly.

However, I don't think /lib is the proper place for such scripts,
especially for those that are added by local administrators. As far as I
know, /lib is handled by dpkg and it should never be required to add
stuff there manually. Note that the FHS is also quite specific in this
regard: "The /lib directory contains those shared library images needed
to boot the system and run the commands in the root filesystem, ie. by
binaries in /bin and /sbin.". This doesn't seem to include custom
scripts as used here.

A better place would probably be /etc/systemd (similar to the obsolete
/etc/pm/sleep.d). At the very least, /lib/systemd/systemd-sleep should
contain a script that calls user-provided scripts from a more
appropriate location.

[Bug 12893] Re: Shouldn't put .Trash-$USER on removable devices

2016-01-27 Thread André Pirard
I was asking "what solution was used?" because I can't really find out if my
suggestion was considered.
Do not create /.Trash-$USER directories but $USER directories in /.Trash and
only if that directory exists.
So, the user chooses if he/she/it wants a trash by creating /.Trash or not when
formating or with a utility.
