Vasya,

Try selecting "Ubuntu on Xorg" at the login screen. Does that change
your ability to set the shortcut later?

[Bug 1725078] [NEW] Can't set Ctrl+Shift as a shortcut

2018-01-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Can't set Ctrl+Shift (and many other key combinations) as a shortcut in
new and shiny Ubuntu 17.10. Nothing happens when I press these keys. For
example, when setting "Switch to next input source" shortcut, a window
pops up waiting for a key combination, but nothing happens at all when I
press Ctrl+Shift. I can still set some combinations like Super+Space,
though.

2018-01-24 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Yes! Thank you.

Removing gtk3-nocsd fixed it. And compared to a laptop that never had
the problem, that machine never had gtk3-nocsd installed.

** Package changed: ubuntu-themes (Ubuntu) => gtk3-nocsd (Ubuntu)

** No longer affects: ubuntu-themes

[Bug 1745273] [NEW] Cannot open gnome-terminal with long working directory name containing Unicode characters

2018-01-24 Thread Simon May
Public bug reported:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using: Ubuntu 17.10

2) The version of the package you are using: 3.24.2-0ubuntu4

3) What you expected to happen: When opening a terminal window with a
long working directory path containing Unicode characters (such as
“/home/test/01234567890123456789/01234567890123456789/ä/01234567890123456789/01234567890123456789/01234567890123456789/01234567890123456789”
in a 80×24 window), gnome-terminal opens normally.

4) What happened instead: gnome-terminal closes immediately, both when opened
using
gnome-terminal
--working-directory=/home/test/01234567890123456789/01234567890123456789/ä/01234567890123456789/01234567890123456789/01234567890123456789/01234567890123456789
and when changing to this directory using “cd”. There is no output on stderr or
anywhere else, the window just closes.

This makes it impossible to use gnome-terminal for many directories with
long paths. This did NOT happen in Ubuntu 16.04.

** Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 1745271] [NEW] Input prompt behaves incorrectly if working directory path spans two lines

2018-01-24 Thread Simon May
Public bug reported:

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using: Ubuntu 17.10

2) The version of the package you are using: 3.24.2-0ubuntu4

3) What you expected to happen: The input prompt should behave the same,
no matter what the working directory is.

4) What happened instead: The cursor starts overlapping the working
directory text (see attached screenshot, which shows a 80×24 terminal
window in a directory called
“/home/test/01234567890123456789/01234567890123456789/a/01234567890123456789/01234567890123456789/01234567890123456789/01234567890123456789”).

On text input, the inputted text overwrites the working directory text.
When pressing backspace, the entire second line is deleted (including
the $ character). This makes using the history (up arrow) very confusing
because afterwards, the actual input line characters do not seem to
correspond to the displayed text anymore, i.e. characters inserted at a
certain point are actually shifted in the resulting line, making it very
difficult to properly type in commands.

[Bug 1719322] Re: Remove patch to remove headerbar

2018-01-24 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package file-roller - 3.26.2-3ubuntu1

---
file-roller (3.26.2-3ubuntu1) bionic; urgency=medium

  * Sync with Debian. Remaining change:
   - debian/rules:
   + Make a compatibility desktop file for upgraders
  * Drop bz_unity_header.patch: No longer needed for Unity (LP: #1719322)
If you don't like headerbars, consider installing engrampa from MATE

file-roller (3.26.2-3) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Update Vcs fields for migration to https://salsa.debian.org/
  * Bump debhelper compat to 11
  * Build Nautilus extension again since it was re-enabled upstream
in 3.26
  * On Ubuntu, depend on zip & unzip instead of p7zip-full because
p7zip-full is in universe

file-roller (3.26.2-2) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Update Vcs fields for conversion to git
  * Add debian/gbp.conf
  * Bump Standards-Version to 4.1.2

file-roller (3.26.2-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release
  * Refresh patches

file-roller (3.26.1-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release
  * Add squashfs.patch from Ubuntu:
- Support opening squashfs file systems and .snap files
  * debian/control.in:
- Add squashfs-tools to Suggests, needed for above feature to work
  * Bump Standards-Version to 4.1.1

[Bug 1744511] Re: Keyboard and mouse stop working randomly

2018-01-24 Thread Phill
17.04 did not have any problems, I never had 16.04 on this computer.

An update to the kernel yesterday seems to have resolved this issue
(linux-image-4.13.0-31). So it's not worth investigating further at this
point in time.

However, the kernel update seems to have introduced a full system freeze
that occurs less often than the original problem, but this is another
matter. I think I'll just run 17.04 until 18.04 comes out.

I'm not sure if this should be marked invalid or fixed, so I'll leave
that to someone else.

[Bug 1614925] Re: Allow one to set the week to start on Sunday in built-in calendar

2018-01-24 Thread Nikita Yerenkov-Scott
** Description changed:

  Some religious as well as regional calendars (e.g.: the Japanese
  calendar) start the week with Sunday as opposed to Monday. I think that
  there should be an option in the gnome-tweak-tool to make it so that the
  weeks are displayed as starting on Sunday in the built-in calendar
  accessible from the top-bar.

  This can already be done manually, but an option in the GUI would be
  nice.

[Bug 689861] Re: Solid color as desktop background even if wallpaper image is set

2018-01-24 Thread Bryan Quigley
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. We're sorry we don't always
have time to fully triage and fix bugs.

Glad you were able to resolve this! With the change to gnome-shell in
newer releases I'm guessing this is no longer relevant.

[Bug 945340] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in lookup_type_node_I()

2018-01-24 Thread Bryan Quigley
Thank you for reporting this bug to Ubuntu. We're sorry we don't always
have to full triage and fix bugs.

I don't believe this bug applies to currently supported Ubuntu releases
(with major new releases of nvidia driver and nautilus) so I'm going to
close it. Please feel free to reopen if you still get this bug.

Marking as incomplete until Simon tested vlc 3.0.0 as provided by
Ubuntu. FWIW, vlc 2.2.x won't see any Wayland fixes. If you use Wayland
and vlc, you'll need to use 3.0.0.
