[Bug 1779238] [NEW] Mouting a disk or iso image asks for sudo password

2018-06-28 Thread Laurent Dinclaux
Public bug reported:

This issue is simple to reproduce on a fresh 18.04 install:

- right click an iso image and select "Open with disk image mounter" (or
double click as it is the default action)

and/or:

- issue the command `gnome-disk-image-mounter image.iso`

The resulting is a dialog asking for the user's password and the message
"Authentification is required to modify the loop device /dev/loop22"

It is a show stopper for me as I use gnome-disk-image-mounter in an
automated way.

[Bug 1779096] Re: Mouse speed settings not used on the login screen

2018-06-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
This is unfortunately correct.

The login screen runs as user 'gdm' which is not privileged. That means
it has no access to retrieve your personal settings until after you have
entered a password. So it uses the system defaults.

You might be able to change the system defaults by editing this file as root:
/usr/share/glib-2.0/schemas/org.gnome.desktop.peripherals.gschema.xml

[Bug 1778983] Re: Resume from suspend on Wayland breaks window positioning

2018-06-28 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Thanks.

** Description changed:

+
+ ---
+
While on the Xorg session things seem to be mostly correct on Wayland
after resume from suspend several things are broken:

  1) The session resumes on the 4th virtual desktop independently on where it
was before
  2) The fullscreen virtualbox session I keep in the fourth desktop now has
broken dimensions not covering the whole screen and/or being offset from the
screen (a gap on the top showing the background and a covered part at the
bottom of the screen)
  3) In what may be the same bug the terminal and gedit windows I keep tiled to
the right and left of virtual desktop 2 show up with wrong sizes.

To fix 2) and 3) I have to do the same thing, take the windows out of
tiling/fullscreen and go back, so somewhere the actual state of the
  windows was lost.

[Bug 289592] Re: Unknown media types in /usr/share/mime/packages/kde.xml

2018-06-28 Thread alfred
This bug still exists on xubuntu 18.04 why not fixing this once and for
all after all the years ??? is this really important to show this
warning or only to warn people ??? what can they do to avoid this
message ? update database ? what command-line to do so ?. Though it's
just a warning message, it remains annoying and looks pretty sloppy.

[Bug 1758528] Re: gnome-shell crashed with SIGSEGV in gbm_bo_get_plane_count() from gbm_get_next_fb_id()

2018-06-28 Thread Brian Murray
If you don't think the bug requires specific verification because it is
a part of an upstream microrelease then don't put the bug number in the
changelog or format it in such a way so that it becomes part of
Launchpad-Bugs-Fixed.

Given that there is a link to an Error Tracker crash I can guess what
the test case is but please still update the description since the
changelog references this bug number.

2018-06-28 Thread Brian Murray
Hello Daniel, or anyone else affected,

Accepted gnome-shell into bionic-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-
shell/3.28.2-0ubuntu0.18.04.1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation on how
to enable and use -proposed.Your feedback will aid us getting this
update out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested and change the tag from
verification-needed-bionic to verification-done-bionic. If it does not
fix the bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the
tag to verification-failed-bionic. In either case, without details of
your testing we will not be able to proceed.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

Regression Potential. While I'm accepting the SRU now, please get those
added.

[Bug 1779189] [NEW] /var/log/journal consumed all available disk space

2018-06-28 Thread hackel
Public bug reported:

Running 18.04, systemd 237-3ubuntu10, and all of my available disk space
on /var (4.3G) just got eaten up by systemd-journald.
/etc/systemd/journald.conf has all the default values (everything
commented out). Processes were starting to crash, and I only recovered
by running "sudo journalctl --vacuum-files=1" which brought it back down
to 25M.

My understanding is that the defaults are supposed to prevent this from
happening. I'm not familiar enough with systemd to further debug why
this might have happened.

[Bug 1779096] [NEW] Mouse speed settings not used on the login screen

2018-06-28 Thread Pedro Côrte-Real
Public bug reported:

The login screen doesn't use the mouse hardware settings. In particular
it doesn't seem to use the mouse speed settings. This gives an
inconsistent feeling between the login screen and the desktop if you're
not using the default speed in the desktop. In my case I need to make
the mouse speed much slower to be usable and that means that when I'm in
the login screen the mouse is very jumpy.

The same thing happens for the screen size settings (defaulting to 200%
instead of the 100% I've set) but that's less inconvenient although
still shows lack of polish. I assume this is because these settings are
per-user but for the vast majority of desktops that's a single person
anyway so it's a bad default.
