[Bug 1724944] Re: gdm3 doesn't start with disable-user-list=true option enabled
I am closing this bug. I believe the problem was that you didn't uncomment the [org/gnome/login-screen] line. To disable the user list on the login screen in Ubuntu 18.04 and newer: 1. Edit /etc/gdm3/greeter.dconf-defaults You can use your preferred editor, but I suggest: gedit admin:///etc/gdm3/greeter.dconf-defaults 2. Remove the # from the front of these two lines to uncomment them: [org/gnome/login-screen] disable-user-list=true 3. Save the file 4. Reboot your computer. On Ubuntu 18.10 and newer, you can probably skip rebooting and just run this command: sudo systemctl reload gdm -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1724944 Title: gdm3 doesn't start with disable-user-list=true option enabled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1724944/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1759462] Re: Keyboard shortcuts not operational on 18.04
have the problem mentioned above, some shortcuts work some don't in particular ctrl-alt-t for opening a terminal, ctrl-alt-c in libreoffice. What I observe is: ctrl-alt switches input source (I have two keyboards layouts defined en and de) although in the shortcut settings in settings the shortcut for switching between input sources is defined differently. If I try to change the shortcut to open a terminal from ctrl-alt-t in the settings menu to again ctrl-alt-t, the shortcut ctrl-t is shown in the menue although I pressed ctrl-alt-t. If I accept the selection, the new shortcut ctrl-t works. When in libreoffice ctrl-alt switches input source and ctrl-alt-c does not work to add comments. Thus it looks like the problem might be with the alt key. Just guessing Here is my system: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS with Gnome desktop 3.28.2, no compiz. Hi there! I'm looking for suggestions on further testing I can do to disambiguate the situation I'm seeing from this bug. I reported https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1796614 which was marked as a duplicate of this bug. However, I now have this package installed (Output of apt policy below), and I am still seeing a blank screen with a blinking cursor at initial boot, but can flip to a different VT, login and run startx and everything functions normally. Am I A) Mis-understanding what I need to do in order to test this fix, or B) missing some other subtlety that would lead to my expectations that this bug should go away to be invalid or C) in fact observing a different bug altogether that isn't a duplicate of this one? [Bug 1682542] Re: Add support for top bars on all monitors to allow for multi-monitor support in primary extensions - apps-menu, places-menu, topbar, etc
I second the notion that adding support for multiple top bars would be a step in the right direction for multi-monitor support. Also in regards to the comment that it would be non-trivial to implement this, in particular the part about: "[can't] use the monitor with the top bar as indicator for the primary monitor in Settings" - that sounds strictly like a code improvement, and a good reason to do this. The primary monitor should have a unique attribute that designates it this way - other features tied to or built on top of it should not act as the method for determining which monitor is the primary one in the first place - we're breaking the single utility principle here no? It certainly would feel wrong to me if I tweaked my own Linux system and moved the top bar to a secondary display and suddenly the Ubuntu OS started treating that one as my primary display. This refactoring would also make changes like this in the future much easier to achieve, since the stack doesn't have un-intuitive relationship to monitor components (it instead relates directly to the monitor class/module/object). Just my 2c. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1682542 Title: Add support for top bars on all monitors to allow for multi-monitor support in primary extensions - apps-menu, places-menu, topbar, etc To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/gnome-shell/+bug/1682542/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
