[Bug 1809635] Re: nautilus-desktop icons rearrange themselves upon relogin gnome
By the way, I checked the "Keep aligned" box that is available by right- clicking the desktop. I also tried to replicate the bug by putting the computer to sleep and then waking it up (being prompted to enter my password at the unlock screen) but it did not happen then. Next, I will test rebooting. Okay, I can confirm that rebooting produces the same behavior. I think the reason some of the icons move under the dock is that I have the setting "Auto-hide the Dock" on. In my nautilus settings, "Show Hidden Files" is on, but I don't think I've made any other customization. My installation is a minimal desktop installation; ubuntu-minimal is installed with all, including recommended, dependencies. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1809635 Title: nautilus-desktop icons rearrange themselves upon relogin gnome To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1809635/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I replicated the bug just now by logging out and then logging in, so maybe it doesn't have to do with the computer going to sleep. ** Attachment added: "Before logging out and the back in" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1809635/+attachment/5224594/+files/Screenshot%20from%202018-12-24%2011-45-22.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to nautilus in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1809635 Title: nautilus-desktop icons rearrange themselves upon relogin gnome To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nautilus/+bug/1809635/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1809635] [NEW] nautilus-desktop icons rearrange themselves upon relogin gnome
Public bug reported: This bug occurred on a previous installation of Ubuntu that was also Cosmic gnome. That one was used for years and was originally 16.04. I reinstalled Ubuntu and the bug still occurs. It might have to do with a hardware button I have on my System76 laptop: a sleep button. It makes the computer's hard-disk sound like it stopped spinning, which I think is true. The same happens when I close the laptop lid. This also sometimes causes the Ubuntu dock to show on the login screen, which is a separate bug, but may be related. Description:Ubuntu 18.10 Release:18.10 nautilus: Installed: 1:3.26.4-0ubuntu7 Candidate: 1:3.26.4-0ubuntu7 Version table: *** 1:3.26.4-0ubuntu7 500 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu cosmic/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status I expected my icons to remain in the same place upon login or relogin or unlock. [Bug 1643308] Re: Unable to launch gnome-terminal
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. We are sorry that we do not always have the capacity to look at all reported bugs in a timely manner. You reported this bug some time ago and there have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time. Your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. Ubuntu 16.10 (yakkety) reached end-of-life on July 20, 2017. It would help us a lot if you could test on a currently supported Ubuntu version. When you test it and it is still an issue, kindly upload the updated logs by running only once in a terminal: apport-collect 1643308 and then change the status of the bug back to "New". Please add any additional information that you think might be relevant. Alternatively, please confirm that this is no longer a problem and that we can close the bug report. If we do not hear from you this bug report will expire in approximately 60 days time.
