[Bug 1753525] Re: Wacom tablet not recognized in Settings > Devices
on Jul 16 2020 I still have the same problem. The pad is perfectly recognized when using terminal commands but not detected in the device dialog under settings>devices>Wacom Tablet. When I hit Test your settings I can input but have to use high pressure. I did install the most recent drivers from source following this link https://linuxwacom.github.io/ , installing input wacom from source and building the Xdriver. Installing input wacom went without error messages and installing the Xdriver gave the message that the installed driver is already the newest one. When I try to use the tablet with Xournal it sometimes works and sometime doesn't rebooting usually fixes the "not working". "Not working" symptoms are: when drawing a line it gets interrupted, the pressure has to be extremely high, the cursor jumps around wildly, switching between eraser and pen is not controllable, the cursor can not be mapped to a specific monitor. I am on Ubuntu 18.04.3 The tablet is a Wacom Intuos BT S The output from xsetwacom --get "Wacom Co.,Ltd. [Bug 1887718] Re: Xorg freeze
If the cursor still works then that's Xorg which is still working and only gnome-shell has frozen or crashed, so... Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps: 1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run: ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug. 2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine. Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please send the links to us. 3. If step 2 also failed then apply the workaround from bug 994921, reboot, reproduce the crash, and retry step 1. Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security risk for yourself. ** Summary changed: - Xorg freeze + Screen freeze ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) => gnome-shell (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: gnome-shell (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-shell in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1887718 Title: Screen freeze To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-shell/+bug/1887718/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

I've left my computer running overnight, with all applications closed, just to come back next morning and find my desktop session frozen, and having to kill on of the previously mentioned processes to get back my machine. I've found other bugs, like #1856838 but that one focuses on opening the overwiev, which after opening and closing dozens of times, my memory doesn't increase. Also, #1882781 which is marked as a duplicate of the previous bug. [Bug 1887529] Re: gnome-calendar crashes after updating nextcloud calendar
** Changed in: gnome-calendar (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided => Low ** Changed in: gnome-calendar (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gnome-calendar in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1887529 Title: gnome-calendar crashes after updating nextcloud calendar To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-calendar/+bug/1887529/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1887652] [NEW] wayland not available with proprietary nvidia drivers
Public bug reported: With Ubuntu 20.04, GDM 3.34.1 (bundled with Focal), and the proprietary NVIDIA drivers, I am unable to use Wayland to login, and can only use XOrg. Debugging this a little, I found that wayland support is wholesale disabled when proprietary NVIDIA drivers are used by this rule: /lib/udev/rules.d/61-gdm.rules (coming from the gdm3 package), however it seems there may be more to this as well in upstream so this seems to affect mutter as well. To be clear, my system only has NVIDIA graphics, I do not also have an Intel integrated GPU, so this is not a duplicate of https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1862531. ** Affects: gdm3 (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: mutter (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Assignee: Daniel van Vugt (vanvugt) Status: New ** Tags: focal groovy nvidia nvidia-drm.modeset ** Also affects: mutter (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to gdm3 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1887652 Title: wayland not available with proprietary nvidia drivers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1887652/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 1887652] Re: wayland not available with proprietary nvidia drivers
Enabling Wayland support with the NVIDIA proprietary driver This is not something we recommend due to a number of bugs. But if you want to try it out then a new step is required in 19.10: 1. Add kernel parameter nvidia-drm.modeset=1 2. Comment out the nvidia line in /usr/lib/udev/rules.d/61-gdm.rules 3. As step 2 may have reintroduced an old bug you might need to disable the integrated graphics/GPU in your BIOS. https://wiki.ubuntu.com/EoanErmine/ReleaseNotes#Desktop ** Tags added: focal groovy ** Tags added: nvidia nvidia-drm.modeset ** Changed in: mutter (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Daniel van Vugt (vanvugt) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to mutter in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1887652 Title: wayland not available with proprietary nvidia drivers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gdm3/+bug/1887652/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 1874567] Re: [nvidia] Rotating secondary monitor to portrait fails, results in landscape
Found in a post on Reddit, a workaround that worked for me via GUI. Even though this is still a bug I wanted to help this workaround get more exposure. ``` Just installed 20.04. Same issue. But i have a workaround that doesn't involve manual settings with xrandr. If i set them so that all monitors align at the bottom, it works as expected. This makes for a bit of wonky cursor movement screen-to- screen, but it's usable for now until it gets fixed. Something about the nvdidia driver seems to not be able to map the position to any other configuration. It does not work if for me if I align them all at the top, only with them all aligned at the bottom.
