[Bug 1900347] Current status
Dear Mr. Bacher, I am a linux novice. You responded to a bug report I made in Oct 20, 2020. On February 26, 2021 there was a updated report posted here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/seahorse/+bug/1900347 So has this bug been fixed? If so were would the fixed package be? [Bug 1968081] [NEW] [FFe] [UIFe] gnome-characters 42
Public bug reported: Benefit --- The new GNOME Characters app significantly improves the usability of the app, upgrading the Unicode support from something like Unicode 9 all the way to Unicode 14. The new version also removes the horizontal lines that the emoji are resting on. I think the UI is better without those lines. Comment --- GNOME Characters 42 still doesn't support emoji modifiers and sequences which is a really big omission for an emoji app. There is a merge proposal for version 43 and it may be worth a major SRU for 22.04 LTS later. Other UI comments - The sidebar has switched to monochrome symbolic icons instead of fullcolor. It looks like the selection highlight color is gray instead of the Ubuntu color scheme. (I'm referring to Smileys & Emotion in the sidebar.) Why This Wasn't Done Sooner --- GNOME Characters 42 switches from GTK3 to GTK4 and libadwaita. libadwaita did not support Ubuntu 22.04's color schemes until a patch was uploaded to 22.04 today. Risks and Mitigation This version is already present in Debian Testing without new reported bugs. Both Ubuntu and Ubuntu Budgie includes this app by default. The app is standalone and does not impact other apps. We could revert if there were a major bug discovered. Re: [Bug 1966786] Re: login screen shown twice with VirtualBox Guest Additions
I don't use a wayland session. Also on the first login screen the xorg session has been selected in the menu. I understand vmwgfx is the VMware Linux graphics driver also used by Virtualbox for exposing 3D/OpenGL/3D hardware acceleration to guest virtual machines. Switching off 3D acceleration did not help. Remains the fact that the problem only shows up in Ubuntu 22.04 and not in Ubuntu 22.04; Ubuntu Mate 22.04 nor in any 20.04 version or in Fedora 36 Beta also with Gnome 42. Curious, do you have any cooperation with the VBox maintainers? [Bug 1794064] Re: Clicking a hyperlink in a PDF fails to open it if the default browser is a snap
> Is there any option to do this via portals - ie can evince use > org.freedesktop.portal.OpenURI to open the URI? Would then this > allow to avoid going via xdg-open? Evince is using g_app_info_launch_default_for_uri(), which can use the portal interface: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/evince/-/blob/main/shell/ev- window.c#L6775-6778 However, it only does this as a fallback if no desktop file supports the URI. This is intended to allow a confined app to handle some file types within the sandbox before falling back to portals for everything else. In the case of Evince running on the host system and seeing all the desktop files in /usr/share/applications and other locations, it likely won't ever call the portal API. It'd be possible to code in explicit portal API calls, but it isn't something that Evince packaged as a flatpak or snap would need. So it might end up as a distro patch we'd be on the hook to maintain forever. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is subscribed to evince in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1794064 Title: Clicking a hyperlink in a PDF fails to open it if the default browser is a snap To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apparmor/+bug/1794064/+subscriptions -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
