[Bug 1988488] Re: Screen freeze before the login screen (if the third party software option was selected)

2022-10-13 Thread Daniel van Vugt
It seems the problem was Wayland + gnome-shell specific because gnome-
shell is the display server and effectively single threaded. gnome-shell
deadlocks on itself if it spawns a client synchronously and expects to
wait for that client to finish. The client never finishes because the
server isn't replying while it's waiting for the client to finish.

When doing the three-finger touchpad gesture to reveal the app grid, in

changes to 6 columns.

Public bug reported:

[ Impact ]

Left or right icons to switch the application grid is not visible or not
properly centered in the overview when using auto-hiding dock

[ Test case ]

1. Enable auto-hide in dock
1a. Increase the icons size (to make the bug clearer)
2. Open the app grid (super+a)
3. Try to navigate right/left using the right/left arrows
4. They should be usable and properly centered in the available space

[ Regression potential ]

App grid has not the proper size.

2022-10-13 Thread Treviño
Public bug reported:

[ Impact ]

Clicking on any ubuntu dock icons doesn't animate animate the icon

[ Test case ]

- Click on any dash-to-dock icon
- The icon should animate on click (when it opens a new application)
- The same when launching a new application instance (ctrl + click)

[ Regression potential ]

Launching an application doesn't work anymore, animations are shown even
when is not relevant.

[Bug 1992843] [NEW] Windows previewes are not scaled in HiDPI monitors

2022-10-13 Thread Treviño
Public bug reported:

[ Impact ]

Menu previews in the dock are not scaled when using hi-dpi integer
scaling (no fractional scaling)

[ Test Case ]

1. Scale your display to 2x or any other integer value
2. Ensure that the fractional scaling is disabled (may require logout/login)
3. Open one or more windows
4. Right-click to see the windows previews
5. The scaled windows should have a size that is scaled and proportional to
scaling

[ Regression potential ]

It's not possible to see / use all the windows previews, or they have
wrong aspect ratio.

[Bug 1992841] [NEW] Same symbols are exposed in libraries causing potential GType issues

2022-10-13 Thread Treviño
Public bug reported:

[ Impact ]

Both libfprint-2.so and libfprint-2.so.2.0.0 and libfprint-2-tod.so.1
(that the first one loads) are defining some symbols instead of just
referencing them.

This can lead to hangs, or deadlocks because we could try to re-define
the same GType multiple times.

See more details at:
  https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/3v1n0/libfprint/-/merge_requests/2

[ Test case ]

 1. Download this script:

https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/3v1n0/libfprint/-/raw/tod/libfprint/tod/tests/check-library-symbols.sh
 2. Run it as:
libfprint/tod/tests/check-library-symbols.sh \
  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfprint-2.so.2 \
  /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libfprint-2-tod.so.1
 3. Ensure that no duplicated symbols are shown

[ Regression potential ]

Shared libraries linking with libfprint (or tod) may not find symbols.

[Bug 1992838] [NEW] GUI PDP Auto-connect option is not working

2022-10-13 Thread Younis Amin
Public bug reported:

Setup details:
Kernel Version: 5.15.36--wwan-bkc-5
OS Version: Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS
IOSM: IOSM_DRIVER_v8.06.13_5.15.36-wwan-bkc-5_2022_SEP01
MSDK_Version : MSDK_4G_ML_2022_SEP01_00
ModemManager Version (ModemManager -V) : 1.19.1
libMbim Version (mbimcli -V): 1.27.5
mmcli Version : 1.19.1

Test Scenario :
1) Boot up RVP with Auto PDP enable -> Auto PDP enabled from UI
2) Registered to LTE Cell in good radio conditions
3) Start the ping
4) Change the Power level on simulator to bad radio conditions & make sure UE
goes to OOS
5) Change the Power level to good conditions on simulator.
6) Check whether UE attaches to N/W & ping will resume

Observations:
1) After recovery from OOS data call is not resumed & UE stays in modemstate
"8" only

Expected Result: After OOS recovery data call should resume.

>> From modem and modem manager we observed that host is not able to
send the MBIM_CONNECT_CID to activate the connection. That is because
Auto-connect was not successfully activated from the UI.

[Bug 1828107] Re: gvfs can't list shares from smb servers that disabled SMB1

2022-10-13 Thread C. Jeffery Small
Xubuntu 22.04.1 after upgrading from 20.04

In order to get multiple Windows 10 systems to "discover" the samba
shares on two different Xubuntu systems, I had to re-enable SMB1
protocol on all the Windows systems. Microsoft apparently keeps
disabling this on system updates.

As reported above, old Windows mapped drive assignments made to Ubuntu
samba shares have continued to work over time, but new shares cannot be
seen unless SMB1 is enabled. of course, this should all just work using
newer secure protocols.

For a significant piece of server software, the fact that this hasn't
been addressed long ago is a real mystery.

[Bug 1992756] Re: Screen turns black for a long time after each login and when detecting screens or changing screen layout.

2022-10-13 Thread Audun
I tried updating graphics drivers to cuda-drivers-520 and the problem
persists. I've attached updated lspci.txt and recentjournal.txt with
these new drivers.

Let me know if you want me to reproduce with cuda-drivers-515 instead.

[Bug 1992775] [NEW] gnome-session fails to build on kinetic

2022-10-13 Thread Jeremy Bicha
Public bug reported:

gnome-session fails to build on kinetic because it tries to install
gnome-session-custom-session.

See https://bugs.debian.org/1013672 for more details. Basically, we
don't enable the enable_session_selector build option and gnome-session
now correctly doesn't install gnome-session-custom-session in that case.

[Bug 1934579] Re: Nautilus crashes when opening places from the dock contextmenu

2022-10-13 Thread Daniel van Vugt
Tracking in:
https://errors.ubuntu.com/problem/b08214abbd45a512fd85cd586ff646af50a1e2bc

Steps to reproduce also mentioned in:
bug 1961453 and bug 1991659.

The crash in my case seems to originate from unity-bookmarks-handler.c
which is from nautilus patch
debian/patches/12_unity_launcher_support.patch

#5 0x7f5710b9be82 in gdk_x11_window_set_user_time
(window=0x55dcabbf21c0, timestamp=timestamp@entry=1665045124) at
x11/../../../../../gdk/x11/gdkwindow-x11.c:3633

#6 0x55dca9345e2d in activate_bookmark_by_quicklist (menu=, timestamp=1665045124, bookmark=) at ../src/unity-
bookmarks-handler.c:62

I'm running Wayland so don't think X11 Window logic should be used
anymore. I wonder if we can drop 12_unity_launcher_support.patch ?

[Bug 1992756] [NEW] Screen turns black for a long time after each login and when detecting screens or changing screen layout.

2022-10-13 Thread Audun
Public bug reported:

I have a Thinkpad P15 with a A2000 GPU with Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS.

This happens using Wayland and nvidia cuda drivers.

It seems like the system uses very long to identify the screens. This
happens when I use external monitors, but also when only using the
laptop screen. Changing the screen layout takes so long that I am unable
to accept the change before it is reverted to the previous.

Only the mouse pointer is visible, the rest of the screens are black
during this process.

[Bug 1961472] Re: nautilus crashed with SIGSEGV in delete_outdated_error_traps() from gdk_x11_display_error_trap_push()

2022-10-13 Thread Daniel van Vugt
The crash in my case seems to originate from unity-bookmarks-handler.c
which is from nautilus patch
debian/patches/12_unity_launcher_support.patch

#5 0x7f5710b9be82 in gdk_x11_window_set_user_time
(window=0x55dcabbf21c0, timestamp=timestamp@entry=1665045124) at
x11/../../../../../gdk/x11/gdkwindow-x11.c:3633

#6 0x55dca9345e2d in activate_bookmark_by_quicklist
(menu=, timestamp=1665045124, bookmark=)
at ../src/unity-bookmarks-handler.c:62

I'm running Wayland so don't think X11 Window logic should be used
anymore. I wonder if we can drop 12_unity_launcher_support.patch ?

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. It sounds like some part of the system has crashed. To
help us find the cause of the crash please follow these steps:

1. Look in /var/crash for crash files and if found run:
ubuntu-bug YOURFILE.crash
Then tell us the ID of the newly-created bug.

2. If step 1 failed then look at https://errors.ubuntu.com/user/ID where
ID is the content of file /var/lib/whoopsie/whoopsie-id on the machine.
Do you find any links to recent problems on that page? If so then please
send the links to us.

Please take care to avoid attaching .crash files to bugs as we are
unable to process them as file attachments. It would also be a security
risk for yourself.
