[Bug 9284] Re: Duplicate entries when synching calendar with evolution

2006-04-09 Thread Carthik Sharma
Upstream requires information about whether this bug can be reproduced with the
current version of Evolution.

Can any of the commenters or the reporter reproduce this on the current version
of Evolution? If yes, please report here, and/or in the GNOME bug tracker.

Thank you very much for reporting this issue and following up on it.

[Bug 31763] Re: Killing the panel makes ekiga disapear from the panel.

2006-04-09 Thread Snark
For your information there was a bug filed about it in the gnome bugtracker.

I fixed that bug, I closed that bug.

I only came here because someone said they reported bugs here (which I didn't
find, by the way).

I would be nice to sync bug reports between upstream and here...

[Bug 38831] Microphone doesn't work since Dapper

2006-04-09 Thread Luna-Tick
Public bug reported:

Affects: ekiga (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
I realise that this is probably not ekiga's fault, but I wanted to get
it into the tracker so that people could help me solve the problem.
Using fully updated Dapper Flight 6.

When I am running ekiga with my headset, the microphone doesn't work.
The headphones work fine and the microphone worked perfectly in Breezy
with ekiga. The reason I don't think that it is ekiga's fault is that
gnome-sound-recorder also records nothing from the microphone (though I
am sure it has at some stage).

I have checked that the sound works in Windows on the same machine (dual
boot) so the hardware is fine. Unmuting the sound from the microphone in
Ubuntu lets me hear myself talking through the headphones (although
doesn't mean that ekiga or sound-recorder work).

I have tried changing the devices from 'default' to the name of the
sound card but it makes no difference.

Does anyone have some diagnostics that I can run to help solve this? Any
idea which upstream package to bug about it?

It does, if you look at the output of gnome-power-manager --no-daemon --verbose
you''ll see a big fat warning. The reason you don't get a user clickable

there is not problem. Can you attach the output of gnome-power-manager

[Bug 38733] Re: Cannot create link on a Samba-drive using Nautilus

2006-04-09 Thread markba
** Description changed:

When trying to create a link with Nautilus on a file located on a Samba-drive,
Nautilus shows: Error Operation not permitted while creating a link to
/mnt/win02-...p/bugs.txt. This seems logical because it is a Linux-link
which will be created and not a Windows-shortcut.

On the other hand, I think that Nautilus should give me an option to
create that link on the desktop (for example), because a 'normal' user
does not have any knowledge about file-systems like Samba, nor should he
  have (my opinion).

- From a useablity viewpoint, I think my suggestion is a better option,
+ From a useability viewpoint, I think my suggestion is a better option,
because requiring a user to switch to terminal and executing ~/Desktop$
ln -s /mnt/win02-temp/bugs.txt does not seem a viable option.

So, it's more a feature request than a bug, I'm not sure if this channel
  (Launchpad) is the right one.

I don't quite understand this bug report. Could you add some more detail e.g.:

Steps to reproduce:

2. Click on the lock screen button.

Expected results:
Screensaver to start displaying itself and for screen to be turned off after 10
minutes. Password box to be displayed only if mouse/keyboard are used.

Actual results:
Screensaver does not start at all, black screen is displayed along with the

[Bug 38845] gnome confused when date not set correctly

2006-04-09 Thread Mark Van den Borre
Public bug reported:

Affects: meta-gnome2 gnome (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Wishlist
   Priority: Low
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
my machine: iBook G4 2005/03; (probably) empty clock battery or PRAM
corruption(?)- without ntp sync, date set to 1904/01/01
my ubuntu version: Dapper, up to date as of 2006/04/09

On this machine with a wrong date set, Gnome gets utterly confused:
* It asks if it should remove all kinds of applets
* It complains about various other things.
* Font and other settings seem to be broken

Gnome should probably:
* warn the user that he probably has a wrong date set.
* look if it's one of the suspicious default clock setting dates (1980/01/01 on
most x86 machines, 1904/01/01 on most ppc Macs) and give appropriate
suggestions (clock battery empty?,...)

[Bug 38840] Re: Rhythmbox starts every time I start Ubuntu!

Actually, automatically save changes is not checked in the session tab.
Rhythmbox also isn't in the Current Session tab.

I'll file a support request, but I thought I would go for a bug because it
shouldn't have happened (I didn't tell it to).

[Bug 9155] Re: Selecting Applications-System Tools-New Login locks up vino/X

2006-04-09 Thread RichardKinder
Why is this being rejected? This is a very strange thing to do since the
problem isn't resolved yet (plus the upstream bug is still there, albeit not
being actively investigated). Please reopen and leave open - if this bug is
closed, this issue gets very little visibility (ie it's hard for people to find
out bugs in existing releases).

BTW, further investigation should be done upstream, but this investigation
hasn't happened yet...

Another BTW - I'll see if this is reproducible on dapper (I suspect it may have
'fixed itself' since there have been huge changes since the bug was originally
reported).

[Bug 38831] Re: Microphone doesn't work since Dapper

2006-04-09 Thread Luna-Tick
I checked the volumes with alsamixer before filing the bug. All the capture
sliders that have a slider to change are turned up.

I don't understand why I would want to file a support request. If I want to do
something that I don't know how to do, I file a support request. If something
no longer works that has worked since Hoary and I haven't changed anything
since install, I file a bug.

[Bug 26017] Re: Ubuntu's graphical network configuration doesn't work at all

2006-04-09 Thread Quim Gil
Apart from the problem of taking so long to apply changes, the problem is that
network-admin won't store the new configuration at all. Maybe it has something
to do with eth1 and having different locations. At least I'm getting the
problem now that I've moved to another office and I'm trying to keep two
different locations updated.

This is what the terminal shows:

Emulating the gksu command:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ gksu network-admin
(network-admin:6072): GnomeUI-WARNING **: While connecting to session manager:
Authentication Rejected, reason : None of the authentication protocols
specified are supported and host-based authentication failed.

(((here is when changes are made, and they takle effect: change of ESSID and
password)))

** (network-admin:6072): CRITICAL **: gst_xml_element_set_content: assertion
`node != NULL' failed

(((This is the error message got when pressing OK. The app will be like
frozen for a mkinute and then vanishes. The changes are not saved and you get
back to the initial situation, withy old ESSID and password, so the connection
is not reachable again)))

Now going through sudo, same thing:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$ sudo network-admin

** (network-admin:6611): CRITICAL **: gst_xml_element_set_content: assertion
`node != NULL' failed
[EMAIL PROTECTED]:~$

The solution is to change tghe configuration everytime you log in and leave
it like that, open, without pressing ok. Which is not optimal. :)

[Bug 38856] Complete freeze on boot

2006-04-09 Thread Tero Karvinen
Public bug reported:

Affects: hal (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
To reproduce
1) Install Ubuntu Dapper Flight 6 to Acer Travelmate 3004WTMi, Intel Centrino
2) System:Administration:Software properties
- Remove: CDROM
+ Add: Ubuntu 6.04 Security Updates (binary) Community
maintained (universe)
+ Add: Ubuntu 6.04 Dapper Drake (binary) Community
maintained (universe)
Close
3) (Both updates are done on 2006-04-09)
$ sudo apt-get update  apt-get upgrade
$ sudo apt-get update  apt-get dist-upgrade
4) Click on the you should reboot icon on top right corner.

What should happen: computer should boot normally

What actually happens:
After boot, complete freeze on Starting Hardware abstraction layer hald in
the boot splash screen. All previous things on screen show ok. The
line is about 95% done. No keys do anything: caps lock, alt-ctrl-backspace,
alt-ctrl-del, alt-ctrl-f1 (2,3,4...), mouse, quick power button click. Had to
press power button for 10 s to shut down.

3004WTMi requires noapic irqpoll to boot, I checked that these options
were still present in grub configuration.

Additionally, also runlevel 1 is now broken:
Tried booting to runlevel 1 with grub options 1.
Stopped on Sending all processes the TERM signal...
caps lock changes led status, holding tab creates disk action, can change
to alt-ctrl-f1. After some waiting, more text was printed on vt1, eg:
Disabling IRQ #11. Still, there seems to be no way to get a prompt.

[Bug 37814] Re: Menu entries in korean do not show in euc-kr encoding

2006-04-09 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks for your bug. The description is not clear. What version of Ubuntu do
you use. Could you attach an example of menu entry? How does a menu entry come
from windows? There are made from /usr/share/applications/*.desktop. That works
fine when using UTF-8 so where is your issue exactly?

[Bug 38856] Re: Complete freeze on boot

2006-04-09 Thread Tero Karvinen
The problem was probably caused by dist-upgrade, or not booting between upgrade
and dist upgrade.

I installed from scratch using Ubuntu Dapper Flight 6 i386 install CD, then
ran sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade, rebooted, and gdm screen
came up. After showing gdm screen, for about 20 s the computer did not react to
mouse or keyboard, then started working.
