[Bug 38831] Microphone doesn't work since Dapper
Public bug reported: Affects: ekiga (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: I realise that this is probably not ekiga's fault, but I wanted to get it into the tracker so that people could help me solve the problem. Using fully updated Dapper Flight 6. When I am running ekiga with my headset, the microphone doesn't work. The headphones work fine and the microphone worked perfectly in Breezy with ekiga. The reason I don't think that it is ekiga's fault is that gnome-sound-recorder also records nothing from the microphone (though I am sure it has at some stage). I have checked that the sound works in Windows on the same machine (dual boot) so the hardware is fine. Unmuting the sound from the microphone in Ubuntu lets me hear myself talking through the headphones (although doesn't mean that ekiga or sound-recorder work). I have tried changing the devices from 'default' to the name of the sound card but it makes no difference. Does anyone have some diagnostics that I can run to help solve this? [Bug 38856] Re: Complete freeze on boot
The problem was probably caused by dist-upgrade, or not booting between upgrade and dist upgrade. I installed from scratch using Ubuntu Dapper Flight 6 i386 install CD, then ran sudo apt-get update sudo apt-get -y upgrade, rebooted, and gdm screen came up. After showing gdm screen, for about 20 s the computer did not react to mouse or keyboard, then started working. -- Complete freeze on boot https://launchpad.net/malone/bugs/38856 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
