[Bug 33002] Re: logout dialog UI objections
Now, I will first agree that there should be some work on making icons match other things, and having them be themable would be great, but it sounds like a lot of people are on that already. The main thing that irked me about the dialogue was the sheer size. I mean, it takes up what, 25% of the total screen area? I find that a bit excessive, and not what I would expect from a simple dialogue window. If some of the space between icons were removed, space around the border shrunk down, and maybe the icons themselves made just a tad smaller if necessary. Basically, my impression when the window popped up was that it was huge. So, just some trimming would be great in my opinion. -- logout dialog UI objections https://launchpad.net/bugs/33002 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 38694] Re: No XChat in Dapper
I'm re-opening this, because I'd really like to here from some of the developers or packagers about leaving XChat or XChat-Gnome out of Dapper. I've just spent a couple of hours using Gaim in Dapper Beta (LiveCD) and for basic IRC it has a fairly bad UI, and seems worse than XChat-Gnome would be. Having all the options menus spread over several windows (three, usually) isn't very useful; it's difficult to find a basic channel listing, and while I'm not a great fan of XChat-Gnome, isn't an app that's actually designed for IRC better than one that tries to do everything? ** Changed in: ubuntu-meta ubuntu-desktop (Ubuntu) Status: Rejected = Needs Info -- No XChat in Dapper https://launchpad.net/bugs/38694 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

This is not a bug! Changing the volume down quickly is extremely useful, because often you want to tell the computer to JUST SHUT UP!! Seems that we've got a winner: disabling Exchange Operations solves the problem. Actually, I've got another problem after this disabling, but it has maybe nothing to do with this bug... Here is the trick: When I create an address book without Exchange Operations, it says: Cannot open this address book. Check that path ~/.evolution/addressbook/local/[EMAIL PROTECTED] exists and that you have access rights. As this has been translated from french, the english text is maybe somehow different. [Bug 40562] totally unusable with busy imap servers
Public bug reported: Affects: evolution (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: Hello, I am accessing my imap mail server through evolution and all I can say is this program is totally unusable if the server happens to be busy, the problem seems to be related to timeouts being improperly set up: quitting the app, opening a mail, whatever... evo will stop responding and will keep pinging the mail server ad nauseam... there's been a lot of talk on the forums of late and a lot of users are unable to use evolution because of this issue. Evo behaves in such an inpredictable manner that the only way to use it in such a scenario is force-quitting it all the time, the only workaround i can think of as of now is place the force-quit button besides evolution's icon. [Bug 40259] Re: unrealistic shadows
These are the original tango folder with different colors and some tweaking here and there, which are not imported pngs, but pure svgs. Believe me we care about shadows a lot and had a lot of discussions on the topic, but the current solution is actually the best possible for the tools we use at the moment, Jakub is experimenting with cvs inkscape which is starting to support the mask feature, but it is not that usable atm. I personally don't consider your solution any better than the current one. [Bug 29809] Re: Window size (mayby placement) is not saved on logoff.
correct, it does. This is something that we in upstream gaim debate fairly frequently. Saving possition is, or at least should be, the responsibility of the window manager and/or session manager, not of each application. For this reason, we have been very tempted to remove the possition saving for the buddy list entirely. Still, not saving possition for chats and conversations would not be a bug, but at best a feature request, as gaim, by design, makes no attempt to do so. -- Window size (mayby placement) is not saved on logoff. https://launchpad.net/bugs/29809 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

Okay, I used an editor to just copy the new ui bits into the old gnome-cups-ui-connection.glade file. I probably should have done that in the first place. [Bug 40314] Re: Themable logout dialog
Including in the tangerine theme, all nice... but the main problem is that gnome-session doesn't use themed icons ATM. Is this going to change soon? Even if it will, including fitting icons in Tangerine is not enough, gnome-session is still required to install fallback icons (current set or better yet: generic Tango icons which I could also provide) into hicolor!
