[Bug 41335] Re: [Bug 41335] Re: Totem refuses to play DVDs in some situations with Dapper
Sorry, I thought the no menu effect was part of the same problem. If it's known, I'm not going to file it as a different bug. However, my originaly bug was that if I put a DVD in the drive, and it automatically played, I could not fast forward, rewind, or skip tracks. If I quit Totem, and tryed to play the disc manually, it told me it was unable, with the message I orignallly filed in the bug. Obviously, I have the correct plugins installed, as the disc played in the first place. [Bug 41707] Goom visualization is unusable at 'Normal' size and higher
Public bug reported: Affects: gst-plugins-good0.10 (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: Goom visualization works as expected as 'Small' size. But if I increase it to 'Normal', 'Large' or 'Extra Large', totem sucks up 1 CPU to 100% (I use P4 HT), and the sound output becomes choppy or no output at all. Visualization is invisible too. However, sometimes it is possible to restore it to working normally by dragging the possition slider, pausing/unpausing etc. Then CPU usage drops back to ~10% on 'Normal' size, ~25% on Large size (average from both virtual processors). So CPU it is capable of doing those Gooms at realtime, the problems lie somewhere else. Im not sure, but IIRC it is a regression from Flight5-6 where it worked fine. [Bug 3226] Re: Evolution should use GtkAboutDialog
A quick flick through the Gnome HIG[1] tells me that there isn't a standard icon for the credits button. Although, I just looked at about fifteen About boxes from different applications and the majority of them (mainly Gnome-intrinsic ones) used the icon with four stars. Evolution seems to be out of the ordinary in that respect. Of course, other apps have no standard at all and all have their own About boxes e.g. firefox, gaim, xchat etc. Conclusion: evolution is bucking a Gnome application trend by only having one star on its About box credits button (therefore I'm confirming this bug) but if you consider all of Ubuntu's packaged apps , it's just another different looking About box. [Bug 41672] Re: Tango'fied application icon
Just to clarify: the icon was done by Jimmac and is proposed to be used upstream for the next version of Gimp. I just thought it would be nice to have the icon in dapper already, because it fits the overall look better. Tango is not supposed to ship individual icons for applications, only generic ones. Tangerine is currently shipping application icons, but as I understand, only as long as those icons are not used upstream. Each application is supposed to install it's icon in the required sizes to hicolor/apps. So best would be for these icons to be added to the gimp package, installing to /usr/share/hicolor/* and changing the .desktop file to use icon=gimp As a minimum, the gimp package would have to change the .dektop file and install/link the old gimp icon to /usr/share/pixmaps, so that this can be used as a fallback, then these icons could go into Tangerine. -- Tango'fied application icon https://launchpad.net/bugs/41672 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 41728] Re: [Bug 41728] Re: Element doesn't implement handling of this system: file a bug
Hi Sebastien, I have installed Breezy Badger 5.10 downloaded as an iso without any updates applied after download. Linux kernel 2.6.12-9-386 built with gcc 3.4.5 20050809. I am using totem-gstreamer. I was geting the dvdnav_get_next_block error and downloaded libdvdread3 etc that seemed to resolve this problem but them I got the 'Element doesn't implement handling of this system' when I select 'play this DVD'. At this point the DVD player doesn't hang but it does not seem to correctly start up and play the DVD. Hope you can help. Steve Sebastien Bacher wrote: Thanks for your bug. [Bug 41738] confusing error message when connection via ssh fails, because host key verification failed
Public bug reported: Affects: nautilus (Ubuntu) Severity: Normal Priority: (none set) Status: Unconfirmed Description: If I connect to a server via ssh://hostname the connection fails, when the key changed. But the error message isn't Host key verification failed or something simmiliar, it's: Nautilus cannot display ssh://hostname. Please select another viewer and try again. This is totally confusing, because you try solutions which won't fit the problem (changed or wrong host key). -- confusing error message when connection via ssh fails, because host key verification failed https://launchpad.net/bugs/41738 -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
[Bug 41715] Re: rhythmbox can't import files from sftp
Ok, this bug is invalid. In fact, I first let rhythmbox index my sftp-accessible music collection, and as nothing appeared, I considered it was broken and tried by Dnd. What happened is that rhythmbox was busy scanning my collection. I don't know if it's a known bug, but when importing my collection, the loading message sometimes disappears. It's why I thought it was doing nothing. Thanks.
