[Bug 43499] Delete Songs from the 'Queued Songs' list

2006-05-08 Thread Tom Rix
Public bug reported:

Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Wishlist
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
At present, if you want to delete a song from the queued songs list, you
would have to left click it, right click, then press remove.

It would be a lot easier to click it then press delete on your keyboard.

[Bug 41744] Re: Windows are not got properly in the foreground.

2006-05-08 Thread jedie
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 31487 ***

No, it's not only the gksu issue!

I have the follow Windows open:

- SciTE
- nautilus
- Firefox
- Terminal
- synaptic

If i switch between there windows randomly (normal click on the windows), then
it comes to the errors. But seldom and not only with certain apps. Not only
with gksu apps. It seems to be a not reproduceable error.

[Bug 38915] Re: Logout proces hangs

2006-05-08 Thread rfonteyn
ctrl-alt-F1 doesn't respond anymore indeed.

Lately, I try not to use the logout functionality, to avoid this behavior. And
I can recall when the last time was that I did try this. So it would take to
long to search for.
And as I just entered the office, I'm not going to try it now. I'm still in the
process to convince them that it's ok to run Linux in the office. So invoking a
crash wouldn't be a smart thing. I'll give it a try around noon (CET+1) and

[Bug 43520] Text library repeats the letters

2006-05-08 Thread baptiste
Public bug reported:

Affects: gimp (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
(I apologize for my baaad english).

With Dapper, Gimp 2.2.10, tabulation gives wrong repetitions.
Like on this screenshot :
http://www.image-dream.com/membre/up/BaptisteAozeo/buggimptextetabulation.png

I can't explain very well, it appears only when I do a tabulation. With
a classic space, it works fine.

This bug exists only with Ubuntu (or Debian), and someone told me it was
the patched text lib which was the guilty.

[Bug 43536] edit profile dialog does not have window decorations

2006-05-08 Thread housetier
Public bug reported:

Affects: gnome-terminal (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

I just dist-upgraded to dapper, dropping xterminal in favor of gnome-
terminal. However when I want to edit the profile (e.g. to change the
foreground and background colors), the dialog window that is opened does
not have any window decorations.

I have uploaded a sample screenshot here:
http://img157.imageshack.us/my.php?image=11470819597dy.jpg

Initially the decorations are shown, but then they disappear. I do not
see error messages on the command line nor in ~/.xsession-errors.

I don't run a gnome-session. My window-manager is OroboROX, which works
especially well with my desktop manager: rox. Both rox and oroborox are
installed via 0install so I cannot link to speciic versions.

I am not sure which tree to bark up so I am reporting this here.

You can check it through the CUPS webinterface (http://localhost:631 and then

Alternatively, in the past if you launched gnome-cups-manager from a terminal,
it used to show the URI of each printer, something similar to:

explanation for the patch:

[Bug 41944] Re: Failure to connect to a server results in a useless window and icon

2006-05-08 Thread Joachim Noreiko
I'm still not entirely sure why someone would want to add a location when they
have had no confirmation that it's correct. Even admins make typos!

I suggest the following:

{...} is not a valid location. You may have made an error typing the address,
or the remote computer may not currently be available.

[ ] Add this location anyway.

[OK]

The checkbox for adding the location would be off by default, but the dialog
should remember its state.
This should satisfy admins who add locations blind ;) and klutzes like me who
just make mistakes.

[Bug 27239] Re: gnome-cups-manager does not accept HPLIP printer setup

2006-05-08 Thread Henk Koster
I just entered the regular IP address of the printer (in my case 192.168.1.63),
without any prefix like socket:// or hp:/net/deskjet_5800?ip=192.168.1.63. The
port 9100 was already indicated.

This printer now works for me, but -- admittedly -- it is still not the HPLIP
setup; so commands like hp-info and hp-levels do not work.

Another computer is located next to the same printer and connected to it via
USB. I've been able to connect it the HPLIP way following the instructions in
the wiki HpPrinterInstallationAndMaintenance, first in Breezy and now also in
Dapper (Beta2) plus updates.

I thought we might as well cose this bug as there is already another similar
one still open (yours, I believe).

[Bug 43578] monitor changes in library bug

2006-05-08 Thread jens_acamedia
Public bug reported:

Affects: rhythmbox (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Binary package hint: rhythmbox

i have ~/Music as my library and monitor for new files checked.

but my main library is on a usb-drive. why does this have to be checked
every startup (leads to 20 seconds of unresponsive program every
startup)

the logic is probably that stuff is added from here and there and the
user should not be forced to clean it all up manually when these files
are deleted or moved.

but with a decent size library +80gb startup becomes too slow!

i think the best solution is to keep library_location and the option to
monitor this. but to add a check box for whether manually added music
should be monitored. this would solve the overhead for somebody like me
whose music collection rarely alters.

if one day it does change i can tick the monitor manually added music
and wait for the database to update...

[Bug 43582] Metacity mistakenly opens Impress presentation on primary head of dual head setup

2006-05-08 Thread markginter24
Public bug reported:

Affects: metacity (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Binary package hint: metacity

Setup:
Dapper (most current updates)
Multiple dual-head laptops with ATI internal graphics using radeon driver.
The primary head is the laptop screen. The secondary head is the LCD monitor.
The CRT2 is set to the Rightof the primary display. When I drap an Impress
window over to the second display to the right and try to start a presenation,
the presentation insists on opening in the primary display (the laptop screen).

If I remove metacity and use xfwm4 this behavior completely disappears,
but I lose a lot of functionality. For instance, I can no longer click
on the window in the window-list and choose to move it. If metacity
properly observed open this window beneath the mouse behaivor then
this wouldn't be a problem. Is there any way to fix metacity yet for

[Bug 43595] confusing hieararchy and search

2006-05-08 Thread jens_acamedia
Public bug reported:

Affects: yelp (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
Binary package hint: yelp

yelp does not have a clear hierarchy of where you are...

if im in ubuntu desktop and type a search word - the search is
global...but i proabably wanted to search through only where i am - not
all the man-pages...

also it is not clear what the logical difference is between the
categories and random options which are below on the same pages (eg.
applications which has logical sub-categories but also a few wild cards
below these...)

categories are also confusing e.g. what is difference btw. desktop and
ubuntu desktop) on first page...

thanks

I upgraded some packages and rebooted to a new kernel, since then I do not get
the warning anymore when I open the Theme dialog.

Running gnome-settings-daemon from the console still gives me:

You can only run one xsettings manager at a time; exiting

The dev/hdax trick just works for showing mounted partitions on Desktop and
Computer:///. But if you try to mount (using nautilus) any of this partitions,
you get a Partition not found in /etc/fstab error.

Anyway, will this terrible bug be fixed before Dapper release?
Hope so...

[Bug 43106] bubble is displayed while in eog fullscreen mode

2006-05-08 Thread Amnon A
Public bug reported:

Affects: notification-daemon (Ubuntu)
   Severity: Normal
   Priority: (none set)
 Status: Unconfirmed

Description:
The new updates available notification is opened even when eog is
displaying an image in fullscreen mode, obscuring part of the image.
Also, it tells the user to click an icon even though it is not visible
in this mode.

Expected/desired behavior: detect that an application is running in
fullscreen mode and not show the notification bubble (I guess that the
scope of this bug is wider than update-notifier but I had to start
somewhere).
