this shouldnt be minor, and be major, it completely hangs up the
shutdown on 2 of my laptops, and i have to manually shut it down by
holding the power button, or select restart then hit the power button
once to send the term signals, very annoying on a laptop

battery charged, pluged in, unpluged it always does it

[Bug 45355] Nautilus doesn't show anymore unmounted cd/dvd-rom icons in 'Computer' location

2006-05-18 Thread Gianfranco Liporace
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

I don't know if this is intentional or not, but i used to have all the
cd/dvd drive icons listed in the 'Computer' location, also when there

on the desktop and in Nautilus 'Computer'.

[Bug 44518] Re: Dapper - Gnome volume controler don't control gstreamer

2006-05-18 Thread Glyphobet
I may be experiencing the same or a similar bug.

Here are the symptoms:

The volume controls in gnome-volume-control, xmms, aumix, and xine do
not affect the volume at all.

Under debian testing (the previous OS installed on this exact hardware,
just a month or two ago), the volume controls in all four of those
programs worked fine.

The volume controls in totem and VLC are the *only* volume controls I
have found that actually work.

[Bug 43611] update-notifier displays a non-closable pop-up over other app in fullscreen mode

2006-05-18 Thread Jiri Bajer
Public bug reported:

I start a terminal, type apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade, start
the game Battle for Wesnoth (package wesnoth from Universe) in
fullscreen mode and wait till the package info gets updated.

Since update-notifier runs on background a yellow pop-up appears
notifying me there are new updates but I cannot click on the X sign to
close it and have to wait till it disappears after some time.

Either this X sign should be clickable or the pop-up shouldn't appear

[Bug 35182] Re: Shutdown from g-p-m doesn't use uspash

2006-05-18 Thread Ricardo Pérez López
 this shouldnt be minor[...]

I agree. Usplash down is one of the main features of the new Dapper.
If you see:

http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/flight5

No Linux distribution has had a complete graphical shutdown process...
until now. Starting with Flight 5, Ubuntu 6.06 now uses usplash to
provide a graphical shutdown screen. This gives Ubuntu a more
professional and user friendly feel overall. Users now see almost no
text messages on the startup and shutdown screens.

Obviously, Usplash down makes the difference with other distros, and
IMHO it should be fixed in order to get it working perfectly before
Dapper release.

[Bug 41400] Re: Can't easily tell if printer is local or not

Work theory so far:

gnome_cups_printer_get_is_local (GnomeCupsPrinter *printer)
{
  g_return_val_if_fail (GNOME_CUPS_IS_PRINTER (printer), FALSE);
  return (printer-details-device_uri != NULL)
   (strcmp (printer-details-device_uri, ) != 0);

is wrong, since device_uri will be nonempty also for network printers.
Changing that to test for http://, ipp://, and smb:// URLs should fix
it.

Actually, it looks like the upstream patch implements separate callbacks
for the session and startup program sections of the dialog - so no

If 14_fix_session_delete_edit.patch is removed, and the upstream patch

[Bug 45339] Re: drive mount applet should represent drives as flat icons and not use button widget

you might talk to the developer who wrote the application. Try to keep
the bug report in a considerate and respectful tone, thanks.

[Bug 45372] Playing: When resuming playback after pause, should buffer before playing

2006-05-18 Thread Aaron Whitehouse
Public bug reported:

At the moment, if the user pauses the playback and then starts it
playing again, the song plays out the buffer while the CD is spinning up
and then there is a break in the music while the CD catches up.

Ideally the song wouldn't resume playback until the CD had spun up and
had resumed from where it left off. The pause would be a lot less
intrusive at the beginning.

I expect this will require upstream GStreamer bugs to be filed before
fixing this is possible.

[Bug 45380] Dropdown from collapsed evolution toolbar is not displayed

2006-05-18 Thread Sitsofe Wheeler
Public bug reported:

Description of the problem:
When the composing a mail window in evolution does not have enough space to
display all its toolbar icons a dropdown arrow will appear at the right to let
you see the icons that didn't fit. Clicking on this causes the arrow to go into
the depressed state, a brief flicker of grey but no missing icons are displayed.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Start evolution .
2. Press Ctrl-Shift-M to get the Compose Message window to appear.
3. Resize the Compose Message window smaller so that not all the icons toolbar
will fit horizontally and a dropdown arrow appears at the right of the toolbar.
4. Click the dropdown arrow.

Expected results:
Dropdown arrow to go into a depressed state, icons that could not be fitted
into the main toolbar to appear in a vertical list.

Actual results:
Dropdown arrow to goes into a depressed state, there is a brief flicker of grey
but no missing icons are displayed. A very small 4px across box appears under
the arrow.

Additional information:
Other GNOME applications like gedit do not exhibit this behaviour.

[Bug 45242] Re: [Bug 45242] Re: Supported features icons in Disks Manager are inaccessible for colour blind users

I'm agreeing that it is much better if we replace the red and green
dots with green ticks and red crosses. This way it is much clearer for
people who suffer from color-blindness. It is indeed a significant
number of people, and I think we should replace it, especially because
the distro aims at serving the needs of the general desktop-user, and
is very user-friendly.

[Bug 8125] Re: username for smb printer is not shown on printer properties

2006-05-18 Thread Martin Pitt
I uploaded the bogus password fix, thanks Soren!

 gnome-cups-manager (0.31-1.1ubuntu11) dapper; urgency=low
 .
   * Cleaned up the 'foo.diff and foo.diff.patch' mess.
   * Add debian/patches/password_field_garbage.patch:
 - When editing SMB connection attributes, do not set the password input
field to the value of 'resource' (which is 'smb'). We do not get the
password in cleartext, so just leave the field blank.
 - Thanks to Soren Hansen for debugging this.
 - See LP#8125 (this bug is mentioned there as a side discussion).

However, the cupsys change is more intrusive, and exposing samba user
names is not something I'd like to introduce at this stage of the
release. At least g-c-m works in a sensible way now, both username and
password are empty, but can be used for changing the credentials.

[Bug 45339] Re: drive mount applet should represent drives as flat icons and not use button widget

2006-05-18 Thread Marcin Antczak
Sorry, I didn't know that 'ugly' is kind of offensive word in english.
I just wanted to say that it doesn't look good. That's all.

Sorry if I used wrong word. I used this tool:
http://portalwiedzy.onet.pl/tlumacz.html?qs=brzydkitr=ang-autox=27y=11
to find a word to use... propably should pick different one.

By the way you also should remember and try to understand that not
everyone that reports bugs has fluent and perfect english.

[Bug 45242] Re: [Bug 45242] Re: [Bug 45242] Re: Supported features icons in Disks Manager are inaccessible for colour blind users

I agree, it is even more ergonomic to do it this way for those of us who
are not color blind, definitely a win-win solution.

[Bug 39856] Re: Panel in middle of the screen after reboot when not full-sized

2006-05-18 Thread Kasper Peeters
Something similar happens when switching the panel to be on the left or
right:

  1. Setup panel to be 'top' and unset 'expand'.
  2. Re-open panel properties.
  3. Set location to be 'left' or 'right'.

The panel now appears in the middle of the screen. Then do

  4. Set 'expand',

and the panel goes to the left or right as it should have done
rightaway.
