[Bug 49222] Re: Screensaver password dialog does not indicate keyboard layout

2006-10-03 Thread Jenda Vančura
I think my problem is very related:
I use a modified dvorak keyboard (as a non-english speaker) to avoid keyboard
switching (with xmodmap). My password uses the same keys on both that and the
default dvorak layout, which is the system default.
However, when the screen locks, it refuses to let me back in no matter what I
try. I consider this a very serious bug.

I can confirm the bug directly too - when I have someone else using my
PC, I need to xmodmap to their layout... but when the screen locks, we
have a problem: I know the password, they know the layout. Hard-
rebooting.

[Bug 62446] Re: at-spi-registryd crash (please attach backtraces, check crash reports before)

2006-10-03 Thread Steve Kowalik
I have seen this as well. However, it is problematic to generate a
backtrace from at-spi-registryd, as it drops to T state (in ps aux)
whenever you attach to it using either gdb or strace, and kill -CONT'ing
it does not help, and it actually makes Gnome in general not respond.

I am more than willing to help debug this problem, but not while it
can't be debugged by the means pointed out in the wiki page you linked
to.

[Bug 63729] Yelp home page not completely translated

2006-10-03 Thread Claude Paroz
Public bug reported:

When calling Yelp home page from System-Help (e.g. Système-Aide in French)
the strings Ubuntu Help Centre and Welcome to the Ubuntu Help Centre are
left untranslated.
I checked Rosetta (for French) and the string IS translated.

I suspect that when building toc.xml from toc.xml.in, the Gnome CVS po
is used instead of new Rosetta po, and strings that have been patched
for Ubuntu are therefore not translated.

[Bug 63766] [network-admin] network-admin can be run without root-rights

2006-10-03 Thread Christoph Langner
Public bug reported:

I don't know if it is a bug or feature. But if it is a feature, I think
it's a secruity hole. Right now it is possible in Ubuntu Edgy Eft to
open network-admin with user rights and change the network settings.
Just open network-admin out of the settings-menu or type

# network-admin

inside a shell. After you changed some settings you'll find the changes
inside /etc/network/interfaces. I don't think this is a good thing. My
network-admin version is

# network-admin --version
Gnome network-admin 2.15.5

The rights on my interfaces file are set to the defaults

# ls -al /etc/network/interfaces
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 282 2006-10-03 15:58 /etc/network/interfaces

The problem could be reproduced on two different systems.

[Bug 62507] Re: Cannot add ML-1740 Printer

2006-10-03 Thread Till Kamppeter
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 41789 ***

2hansen, your report seems to be really different from the one of the
original poster. So I recommend you to start a new bug report.

Do not worry about the output of cupstestppd, its result is PASS and
so the warnings should not prevent you from printing with CUPS.

[Bug 5402] Re: Kino crash on file open dialog

2006-10-03 Thread Alex Lowe
Has anyone had this on a clean Edgy install? I had this when I upgraded
from Dapper, but now I've done a clean Edgy install, and the problem
disappeared. So I think it may be a problem with upgrading.

[Bug 63766] Re: [network-admin] network-admin can be run without root-rights

2006-10-03 Thread Christoph Langner
Yes, only users who are inside the admin group may change the network
settings this way. I guess this is a nice feature for people who migrate
from windows, but it scares the heck of of me... ;)

BTW: The same thing affects users-admin an all other tools out of gnome-
system-tools

Isn't it risky to be able to execute all those system tools without
getting the necessary rights first?

[Bug 63761] English Grammar / Typos in 'Replace customized configuration file' dialog

2006-10-03 Thread Brandon Williams
Public bug reported:

When performing a Distribution Upgrade, a title-less dialog pops up
with the following text:

Replace the customized configuration file '/etc/qt3/qt_plugins_3.3rc'?

You will loose all customizations, that have been made by yourself or by
a script, if you replace the file by its latest version.

While the message is clear, there are a few grammatical errors that
would polish things off a little if fixed.

A cleaned up version of the string:

You will lose any changes you have made to this configuration file if
you choose to replace it with a newer version.

Binary package hint: file-roller

[Bug 63733] Re: Bug in aisleriot 2.16.1 (ten across)

2006-10-03 Thread Pradeep
The help for Ten Cross(About - Ten Cross) shows this:

Temporary Spots:
Locations to place one card out of play. The spots begin the game
filled. One version of the game does not allow you to put new cards into these
spots once they are empty.

3.68.4. Options
No Use Temporary Spots: If checked the temporary spots may not be
reused.
---

Not sure I follow what it's trying to say but there is no option to
check or uncheck temporary slots.

Since the temporary slots are not usable atm, I'm confirming this.

better and should be included in the update-manager.
