[Bug 89819] Cannot resize preferences dialogue

2007-03-05 Thread Johan Walles
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gedit

Version 2.16.1-0ubuntu2 / Edgy.

Repro:
* Start GEdit.
* Edit-Preferences
* Move the mouse pointer to the corner of the preferences window
* Click + drag

Current result:
Nothing

Expected result:
Preferences window should change size.

Note:
This works for other parts of GEdit (like the main window for example). It's a
nuisance having to view the plugins tab through a keyhole.

** Affects: gedit (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: Unconfirmed

[Bug 88939] Re: Internet time clock crashes gnome-panel

2007-03-05 Thread Václav Šmilauer
I confirm Unix time has this bug as well. For the record, the solution
to have panel back was sudo mv /usr/lib/gnome-panel/libclock-applet.so
/usr/lib/gnome-panel/libclock-applet.so~ and then remove the applet
from the panel.

[Bug 89822] Gnome Clock 2.17.92 crashes Gnome Panels if Preferences set to UNIX style

2007-03-05 Thread Juergen Beckmerhagen
Public bug reported:

Using Feisty!

Right click on Clock in Gnome panel at the top.
Select preferences
Un-check show date
Select UNIX from Clock Type

After that Gnome shows your panels a few times flickering on the screen,
before removing the panels completely.

Since I could not find any work-around or hint on how to repair broken
panels, I deleted directories .gconf* and .gnome* from my home
directory. After that I got at least a fresh Gnome setup.

Thanks for the bug report. This particular bug has already been
reported, but feel free to report any other bugs you find.

Do you have the gtk-qt-engine package installed?

Yes, version 0.71~svn20070224-0ubuntu2.

I would second last comment about the same logo in both entries, but
with different labels, like Evolution Mail and Evolution Calendar,
this could be a nice solution.

[Bug 80438] Re: gedit takes 1 minute to open

2007-03-05 Thread Spliffster
ok, this is on edgy and not on every installation. i could locate where
the problem is. If the File Browser Pane plugin is installed and
activated, gedit will check some files fom the recently used files list
(also remote files) on start up, thus delaying it badly.

enabling the plugin turns gedit into the slick and lighweight editor i
would like to have.

Cheers,

[Bug 67698] Re: prerm should not remove alternative on upgrade

2007-03-05 Thread Sebastien Bacher
That upload fixes the gconf2 problem:

 gconf2 (2.18.0-1ubuntu1) feisty; urgency=low
 .
   * Sync with Debian
   * New upstream version:
 Misc:
 - Make sure error strings are utf-8
 - don't include xml-entry.h twice
 - fix leak in gconf meta info code
 - remove more popt gunk
 - when installing a batch of schema files, don't abort
the entire transaction if one fails
 - don't close already closed file descriptors if fdwalk() is available
 - use g_file_test instead of gconf_file_test or gconf_file_exists
 - remove dead code found from coverity scan
 - retain file permissions on gconf database files when
   syncing a tree to disk
 - Add g_return_val_if_fail checks on type inputs for
   gconf_value_new_from_string
   * debian/control.in:
 - don't require the new gnome-pkg-tools package version from Debian
 - the Ubuntu Desktop Team maintains that package
   * debian/gconf2.prerm:
 - don't remove the alternative on upgrade (Ubuntu: #67698)
   * debian/rules:
 - don't use the rule to prevent upload to unstable

[Bug 87607] gnome-session-properties /Sessions tool/ doesn't allow to autostart programs

2007-03-05 Thread Rafal
Public bug reported:

Hi,

I am using Ubuntu 6.10, kernel ending 11, 32 bit system. gnome-session-
properties is a program which is accessible through
System-Preferences-Sessions.

I try to autostart Firestarter and skype through this tool. I add paths to
Startup Programs and I see them listed there. Then I close
gnome-session-properties by clicking close button in the lower right corner and
start it again and skype and firestarter are not there - they disapeared. After
restarting machine those programs do not start automatically.
I tried starting the tool through System-Preferences-Sessions and by typing
sudo gnome-session-properties and the effect was the same. Firestarter and
skype don't autostart and they don't appear in the tool after I restart it.
Otherwise I can start Firestarter and skype from Applications menu and they
work properly.

The only thing that is different in my system than it was installed by default
is that I have switched my SATA drives - when I was installing Ubuntu I had
only one drive. Now I have two drives and the /physical/ drive on which linux
is installed is B, windows drive /physical drive/ is A. This required changes
to be made in GRUB config file described here:
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questions/showthread.php?t=474493page=2

Regards,

Rafal

[Bug 89652] Re: dependencies will not resolve

2007-03-05 Thread Sebastien Bacher
From you comment:

libxfixes3:
  Installed: 1:4.0-0ubuntu1
  Candidate: 1:4.0-0ubuntu1
  Version table:
*** 1:4.0-0ubuntu1 0
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
 1:3.0.1.2-0ubuntu3 0

Which means that dapper has 1:3.0.1.2-0ubuntu3 and that you installed
1:4.0-0ubuntu1 from somewhere. That's not an Ubuntu bug, you probably
want to stick to official packages for the version of the distribution

[Bug 89748] Re: [apport] gnome-panel crashed with SIGSEGV in malloc()

2007-03-05 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thanks for your bug report. The crash looks like a memory corruption.
Could you try to get a valgrind log for it? (you can follow the
instructions from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind for that)

When did you do your previous update? For how long was the panel
running? The GTK package has been updated to fix a crasher when packages
are upgraded, it would be interesting to know if you panel has been
restarted with the new version installed

Please use the Include attachment function which is below the box
where you write comments for attaching files.

Run the screensaver, wait for the freeze and then attach again both
files Xorg.0.log and Xorg.0.log.old.

Can you tell me if the freeze occurs with any screensaver or with a
particular one?

Thank you

[Bug 89652] Re: dependencies will not resolve

2007-03-05 Thread Mick
Dear Sebastien,
I am happy to plead Mea Culpa any day as I may not know how I have caused the
problem and I understand that you reject the report of the bug.

From my perspective I have only used Synaptic Package Manager and have
not been experimenting with any packages I might get on the internet. I
have never even run apt- from the terminal until I hit the problem.
The only software not installed from Synaptic was Zend Studio 5.5 and
that should not have installed this package. I have now de-installed
Zend and the problem remains.

Now that I am where I am I would like to ask for an answer to 2 quick questions:
1. Will you be able to help me - give instructions - to reverse the problem Y/N
will do...?
2. If it is a no, do I blow away the system and reinstall the system from
scratch as the only resonable way of reversing the problem?

Regards,
Mick

[Bug 89656] [apport] vino-server crashed with SIGSEGV in rfbAuthCleanupClient()

2007-03-05 Thread Emmanuel Touzery
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: vino

here is what i think happened; i was testing connection from a remote (local
computer) through VNC. at one point, i was connected through the remote
computer, and i asked to disconnect it through the VNC applet icon in the GNOME
menu. I think that that point i asked twice. two windows asking for
confirmation to disconnect the remote computer appeared, i closed one by saying
disconnect.
later, i tried to connect again from that same remote host. i have VNC set up
so that it asks for confirmation when someone tries to connect. so the window
XX tried to connect through VNC, do you want to allow or refuse?.
I wanted to click allow but the window was not responding. at that point i
noticed the old window about disconnecting the remote computer in the previous
session. i think i tried to close that old window with cancel, and i think
that it's at that point that vino crashed.

2007-03-05 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Could you look at the top entry from
/usr/share/doc/libxfixes3/changelog.Debian.gz and note it to a comment?
The libxfixes3 1:4.0-0ubuntu1 version has not been uploaded to Ubuntu,
maybe you used some extra apt source for compiz or something? Then to
fix the bug you can run sudo apt-get install libxfixes3/dapper which
will reinstall the official dapper version

I dont remember when i had pervious update.. but it should be not more than

About valgrind log - I woul try to do it about 5- 7 hours after this letter
and will send it to you..

2007/3/5, Sebastien Bacher [EMAIL PROTECTED]:

Thanks for your bug report. The crash looks like a memory corruption.
Could you try to get a valgrind log for it? (you can follow the
 instructions from https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind for that)

When did you do your previous update? For how long was the panel
running? The GTK package has been updated to fix a crasher when packages
are upgraded, it would be interesting to know if you panel has been
restarted with the new version installed

[Bug 89868] Nautilus hangs when showing Desktop in window

2007-03-05 Thread Ulrich Hobelmann
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: nautilus

(In Preferences-Behavior I have always open in browser set to false,
so I use the spatial Nautilus mode.)

When I open my Desktop, either from the Places menu, or my opening it
from Home, sometimes Nautilus will start hanging (CPU at 100%, probably
some infinite loop), until I kill or force-quit it.

Sometimes I will open the Desktop in a window to delete all *~ files
(not shown on the real Desktop), and sometimes I will resize the
Desktop window. Any of these actions can trigger that effect.

Right now it seems that deleting one ~ file triggered it, so every time
I reopen the Desktop window Nautilus will hang.

Maybe this is related to the Window and the Desktop having different
layouts (because they're open at the same time)? not sure.

[Bug 89881] gnome-screensaver does not work with pam_unix2.so

2007-03-05 Thread tyler
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-screensaver

If the pam module pam_unix.so is replaced with pam_unix2.so, the gnome-
screensaver fails to authenticate the user.

This is a strange behaviour, since terminal and gdm logins work.

[Bug 89884] Giant memory leak

2007-03-05 Thread Dustin Spicuzza
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gaim

Gaim 2.0.0beta6 on Feisty has an apparent huge memory leak. After
leaving it on overnight, memory usage according to the system monitor
has grown to 447.3MB. It was running on my desktop behind gnome-
screensaver. One buddy window was open (AIM), and the icon was an
animated one. Additionally, I am using it for both AIM and MSN
messenger, and in the morning there was a new email waiting. It is not
really using any processor time at all. Additionally, some non-standard
features of my system:

- xinerama, 3 monitors running on 2 NVidia cards
- I use KDE kicker in the gnome environment for because its support for being
positioned on the side of the screen is better
