[Bug 92879] Re: gnome-sound-recorder unable to playback

2007-07-03 Thread Balaji
I too have the same problem.

System type: Ubuntu Feisty
Architecture: 2.6.20-16-386
Processor: AMD Turion(tm) 64 X2 Mobile Technology TL-50

I tried running to program from the shell to be able to see the logs.
Upon clicking Play, no message is generated. However upon clicking
Save the following is generated:

(gnome-sound-recorder:29771): libgnomevfs-CRITICAL **:
gnome_vfs_get_file_info_uri_cancellable: assertion `uri != NULL' failed

(gnome-sound-recorder:29771): libgnomevfs-CRITICAL **:
gnome_vfs_uri_unref: assertion `uri != NULL' failed

One might want to check the libgnomevfs modules for errors.

Additionally, 'dmesg | tail' gives the following output. Don't know if
everyone is getting the same, but I'm trying to provide as much info as
possible:

[616631.98] hda: cdrom_pc_intr: The drive appears confused (ireason
= 0x01). Trying to recover by ending request.

No recording is being done on the CD.

Incidentally, recording works fine. Upon quitting, the sound-recording
prompts to save the file. Upon saving the playback works fine.
Additionally, the 'Save As' option also works fine. I think the playback
doesn't work because of bad codec integration with the gnome-sound-
recorder. Please check and fix this bug ASAP.

[Bug 121364] Re: Nautilus WMF file view memory loss

2007-07-03 Thread nrdb
I tried to find out what is used to generate the images but couldn't
find it.

I used the gnome-system-monitor but could see anything in it.

I tried running the command
$ ps -AF | grep -i wmf -
while it was loading the directory, but it returned nothing usefull

I also tried the command
$ ps -AF  /tmp/ps.txt
while it was loading a different directory. When I looked at the file I could
see nothing to indicate an image loader, maybe you can see something I have
attacted the file.

[Bug 123697] gdm always uses Fallback for UserAuthDir

2007-07-03 Thread Reinhard Tartler
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gdm

On a tribe 2 system, GDM now always seems to place the UserAuthDir to
/tmp. I did not (yet) modify /etc/gdm/gdm.conf. For reference, it reads
like this:

UserAuthDir=
# Fallback directory for writing authorization file if user's home directory
# is not writable.
UserAuthFBDir=/tmp
UserAuthFile=.Xauthority

When I log in, my XAUTHORITY Variable is set to:
 echo $XAUTHORITY
/tmp/.gdmQS4MUT

This is a very annoying behavior if I ssh on that machine and want to
use the local X11 display, because I then have to merge X11 credential
forth and back.

[Bug 63090] Re: do not eject all USB/Firewire devices

2007-07-03 Thread Martin Pitt
Adding Feisty task since the demand for fixing this in Feisty is quite
high. However, we have ejected all devices since Hoary. It is not such a
big problem, after all, and is more convenient if your hard disk has
several partitions. With eject, all of them are unmounted at the same
time, so that you don't need to unmount every single of them.

For now there is the feisty-backports package of hal, so people who are
affected by this can install that.

[Bug 63090] Re: do not eject all USB/Firewire devices

2007-07-03 Thread Wenzhuo Zhang
I believe eject is the expected functionality of an external USB drive.
The solution should be to make eject work well with all USB hard drives,
and to make gnome-volume-manager aware of ejects, instead of disabling
eject.

Based on the observation that eject works well with those Cyrpress-based
usb hard drives in Feisty, and with all USB harddrives in Dapper and
Breezy, it is probably a kernel regression introduced in Feisty.

Also, I don't think those eject failure duplicates are really
duplicates of this bug. This bug is about the inconsistent problem in
gnome-volume-manager only; i.e., when a USB drive is ejected, it should
disppear from the Computer window.

[Bug 123731] remove almost-duplicate menu item for Evolution

2007-07-03 Thread rpolach
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

According to
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/evolution/+question/9119
information
the reason of duplicate Evolution menu entry is that Internet-Evolution Mail
launches mail component always,
but Office-Evolution launches last component used.

I thing one of these items should be removed.
The reasons are:
 * when user uses Evolution Mail for most time (and most desktop users will do
so), the last used component would be Mail anyway
 * it confuses users... the most of users recognize Evolution as Mail client
with additions (not a set of equal components)... users simply want to run a
mail client
 * Evolution and Evolution Mail looks like synonyms to user... most of
users use short names of applications... they say GIMP, not GIMP Image
Editor, etc...
so Evolution means Evolution Mail for most...
 * switching to another component is very easy inside Evolution itself, there
is no need to have 2 items in menu... The situation here is equivalent to e.g.
if Brasero
burning application have one launcher in Sound and Video menu to run
cd-audio-burning-component and another in Accessories menu to run its
data-cd-burning-component
 * When users found that Evolution has two menu items that seems to behave the
same way, they may ask stupid questions in Launchpad... like me ;-)

[Bug 115037] Re: evolution filters do not support è

2007-07-03 Thread hggdh
Could you please set up a log on filter, and then filter again one such
message?

to set up the log run:

gconftool-2 --type bool --set /apps/evolution/mail/filters/log true
   gconftool-2 --type string --set /apps/evolution/mail/filters/logfile
~/evo-filter.log

Replace ~evo-filter.log by whatever filename you want.

Then filter one such message... and then please attach here the log. You
might want to attach just the piece showing this particular filter due
to privacy considerations.

To disable filter logging, run

gconftool-2 --type bool --set /apps/evolution/mail/filters/log false

I would like to see what is it Evo is trying to do on your rule.
