Indeed. Letter, as expected on my system. It just tries to print
outside of the hardware-enforced paper margins (which on my laser
printer are pretty tiny; it does print the bottoms of letters like g, p,
q, and y, for example).

No i didn't try exactly same version. I did find bug report from FreeBSD

Anyway, like i said, this happens in Edgy, Feisty and now in Gutsy.
Dapper is last Ubuntu release with working gtkfilechooser. I have tried
latest Fedora, Foresight and Mandriva releases and filechooser works
fine. It might be broken in older versions...

[Bug 127944] Re: [gutsy]Open Office applications don't start

2007-07-30 Thread Fred Hermanns
This was just posted by mbjsscn2 on the Kubuntu forum:

I had same issue with tribe 3 and found that by installing the
following, Openoffice works again: mozilla-openoffice.org openoffice
.org-gnome openoffice.org-gtk openoffice.org-kde

I suspect that its the 'openoffice.org-gtk' that makes the difference
but I haven't had time to experiment further.

Regards

I had everything except OO.org-gnome installed (would never have thought
of that). Installing OO.org.-gnome on Kubuntu actually does work. I am a
bit at a loss why. I mean what is OO.org-gnome doing on KDE?? Maybe the
gods that are can explain this.

Good news,

I've been able to place a call to a landline phone using freephonie.net

Expect to have a stable release allowing that with Ekiga version 3.0

Or you can use the SVN packages until then:

[Bug 129204] [gutsy] nautilus search broken

[Bug 128211] Re: openoffice does not start

2007-07-30 Thread mikeos
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 127944 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/127944

I have the same problem when starting OO, which does not start:

(process:26161): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **:
/build/buildd/glib2.0-2.13.7/gobject/gtype.c:2242: initialization
assertion failed, use IA__g_type_init() prior to this function

(process:26161): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion
`initialization_value != 0' failed

(process:26161): Gdk-CRITICAL **: gdk_screen_get_font_options: assertion
`GDK_IS_SCREEN (screen)' failed

I'm running Ubuntu Gutsy x86-64. It must be related to a recent update
(about 1 week). At the same time my GLX got broken. Basically graphics
works, including desktop effects and transcluency... However starting
any GL application (GL screen-saver, glxgears...) crashes my X session,
unfortunatelly without any traces in the logs. I've been always using
nvidia-glx-new drivers without problems (at least not critical ones),
update to latest nVidia beta drviers from NVidia site (100 series)
didn't resolve the problem.

[Bug 85029] Re: Deskbar applet crashes at startup since I installed libdeskbar-tracker

2007-07-30 Thread Sebastien Bacher
 tracker (0.6.0-1) unstable; urgency=low
 .
   * New upstream release.
 - Uses XDG directories to store the settings, cache, database and log
   files. Closes: #414860
 - Fixes the crash of the deskbar applet at session start. Closes: #434078
 - Does not fall back to polling when the inotify limit is exceeded.
   Closes: #412089
 - Correctly uses xdg-open to open the search results with the preferred
application. This requires the xdg-utils package to be installed, which
   is a Recommends of tracker-search-tool. Closes: 415705
   * Removed debian/man/ as the man pages are now shipped upstream.
 Update tracker.manpages, tracker-search-tool.manpages and
 tracker-utils.manpages accordingly.
   * Removed patches that were applied upstream or are now obsolete
 - debian/patches/20-trackerd_manpage.patch
 - debian/patches/30-deskbar_plugin_max_results.patch
 - debian/patches/40-inotify_syscalls.patch
 - debian/patches/50-expand_pathname.patch
 - debian/patches/60-check_pointer.patch
 - debian/patches/70-check_magic_file_results.patch
   * debian/copyright
 - The htmless sources are not shipped anymore and the qdbm sources are now
in a separate subdirectory. Update the copyright file accordingly.
   * debian/libtracker-gtk-dev.install, debian/libtracker-gtk0.install
 - Added. libtracker-gtk is a new library that provides handy GTK+ widgets
   for applications that use tracker.
   * debian/control
 - Drop libmagic-dev from Build-Depends, add libunac1-dev and libqdbm-dev.
 - Add djvulibre-bin and gnumeric to Suggests. They are used as external
filters for indexing djvu, csv and spreadsheet documents.
 - Add binary packages libtracker-gtk0 and libtracker-gtk-dev.
 - Update the long description of tracker-utils and include the new tool
   tracker-status.
 - Add binary package tracker-dbg which provides the debugging symbols of
trackerd and its utilities. Closes: #412140
   * debian/rules
 - Make sure we link against the system qdbm library.
 - Enable the support for libunac.
 - Explicitly enable the compilation of the GUI, the preferences applet
   and libtracker-gtk.

[Bug 129144] Re: error using gmail account. Configuration issue.

2007-07-30 Thread yamal
As you already indicated yourself, this is a configuration issue rather
than a bug. The error you're getting indicates TLS encryption is
required. In the account's preferences, under the Sending email tab:
set security to TLS encryption (and the server to smtp.gmail.com,
authentication type to Login, and the user name to your gmail account
name if you hadn't already done so). The password will be asked for when
it's needed.

For future support requests, please use Ubuntu's support tracker at
«https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu» rather than the bug tracker.
Closing bug report.

[Bug 129240] Vte doesn't underline spaces

2007-07-30 Thread Santtu Lakkala
Public bug reported:

Any vte-based (since vte 0.14, I think) terminal doesn't show
underlining on whitespace. This totally breaks my irssi theme.

Steps to reproduce:
1. launch terminal
2. run echo -e '\e[4mfoo foo\e[0m'

Actual results:
Two underlined foos are echoed

Expected results:
Two foos with one underline should be echoed

Other: I've reported this also as gnome bug #434230, but there's been no
activity in 3 months. Noticed this again when doing an apt-get upgrade
and my hand-crafted package got replaced by new version.

[Bug 129242] Incorrect total system memory

2007-07-30 Thread Steve Magoun
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-monitor

System Monitor reports that my workstation has 503.3MB total memory
(which is also what /proc/meminfo says). I have 512MB onboard, and a
discreet graphics card so all 512MB is available to the OS. Therefore
System Monitor should say I have a total of 512MB.

The 503.3MB value may be technically accurate, but end users won't
know/care that the extra 8.7MB is in use by the kernel. They are much
more likely to know that their computer came with 512MB of RAM, and
expect that to be reflected in the System Monitor. A minor thing to be
sure, but I think it will improve the experience for end users.

To solve this, consider parsing the output of 'lshw', which knows I have
512MB RAM (installed as 2x256MB RDRAM, even). I'm not sure what the
right solution is for those systems using integrated graphics. Consider
rounding up the value reported by /proc/meminfo to the nearest 16MB.

[Bug 129193] Re: rhythmbox crashed with signal 5 in g_type_class_ref()

2007-07-30 Thread Martin Ahnelöv
Hello! Thanks for filing a bug. Can you please run this command and make
rhythmbox crash, and then attatch the output?
G_DEBUG=fatal_criticals rhythmbox

And please follow the steps in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Valgrind too.

And to make sure it's not a GStreamer-bug, please run this command:
gst-launch-0.10 playbin uri=file:///path/to/file
and attach it's output.

Now to some questions. What file format is the file in? (if it's legal,
please attach the file) Can you play it in other players (Totem, VLC,
XMMS)? How long does it play before it starts to stutter? When does it
crash? Does it happen when any thoer file is playing?

Can you clarify the sentence It's first crash on playing it, please?

Thank you!

[Bug 129026] GNOME Weather Report custom location problem

2007-07-30 Thread Indy
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

I decided to start using GNOME Weather Report, so I added it to my
panel. However, I found out that although it included many small
locations, towns, and even villages in Greece, it didn't include
Ioannina, one of the 5 bigger cities in Greece (and as you probably
supposed, my hometown). So, I decided to add my own, custom entry for
it, at /usr/share/gnome-applets/gweather/Locations.xml so I can be aware
of the weather conditions in my location. In the Greece element, I
added (keeping alphabetical order) the location element, with name
Ioannina, English name Ioannina, and Greek name Ιωάννινα. I added
the city code, LGIO and the coordinates. I saved, and then I selected
it through the GNOME Weather Report interface. But, it couldn't find any
information, it couldn't update, so, it didn't display me the current
weather conditions. So, please, either add Ioannina to the GNOME Weather
Report, or see why it couldn't find any information. Thanks a lot, in
advance.

[Bug 129275] Main Menu - Edit Menu window: New Menu New Item buttons do not work

2007-07-30 Thread Mark Sobell
Public bug reported:

Gutsy Tribe 3: Right click the menu bar and select Edit Menus.
GNOME displays the Main Menu window.
Click New Menu button. The button dims momentarily but does not open the
Directory Properties menu as it does under Feisty.
The New Item button has no effect either.

** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu)
 Importance: Undecided
 Status: New

[Bug 129275] Re: Main Menu - Edit Menu window: New Menu New Item buttons do not work

2007-07-30 Thread Mark Sobell
Well, they do work. Only they open the new windows under other windows (so I
did not see them).
I meant Directory Properties window (not menu) in my original post.
