[Bug 138726] Re: gnome-appearance-properties tabs don't work/display
For me, this problem started not with the upgrade to Gutsy, but sometime within the last two weeks. For me, however, it's not that the appearance dialog doesn't work, it's display just doesn't update to reflect what you are doing to it. For now, my workaround is to run: gnome-appearance-properties --show-page=(theme|background|fonts|interface|effects) Note that 'effects' is not in the man page. I can make changes I need to make using that, but I have to remember not to click on a button that would bring another dialog box up. Any dialog box that shows up as a child of the gnome-appearance-properties one is empty, so I can't tell where the buttons are. -- gnome-appearance-properties tabs don't work/display https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/138726 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 117482] Re: Screensaver locks up when using molecules
Evidently this bug is a duplicate of Bug #106060, as all the symptoms are the same, and the hardware software are the same. Anyone looking for more information should be able to find it in that bug report. It showed up in updates distributed 04-10-2007. I don't know about everyone's workload, but I would think that after more than 5 months since this crasher bug was reported, someone could have removed or blocked the Molecule module so at least it won't bother users until it can be fixed to work. Not everyone is capable of using the gconf editor to de-select Molecule so they don't have to re-install their operating system. :-) It's like leaving a live bomb lying where kids play. Couldn't we at least put it away somewhere until we can defuse it? It's not an essential part of the system - it's just an optional frill - so removing the option to choose it seems like a good workaround. -- Screensaver locks up when using molecules https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/117482 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-screensaver in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 102921] Re: Moving the mouse cursor over the gnome-system-monitor temporarily causes network and disk usage to become zero
I took a video of the problem with Istanbul. At 7-12 seconds I move the mouse around inside the network graph to show that moving the mouse inside the graph is not sufficient to create the problem. At 15-25 seconds I move the mouse in and out of the graph area a couple times to show the reproduction of the problem. At 25-32 seconds I move the mouse over the other graphs in gnome-system-monitor applet to show that popping the mouse over any graph will cause the network graph to go down. At 35-40 seconds, a demonstration that tooltips in other Gnome Panel icons don't reproduce, nor does partially covering the graphs with a tooltip. Finally, at 40-46 seconds I move the mouse in and out of the graph area repeatedly (though it's hard to tell in the video), to show that this can create a long valley in the graph. Note that System Monitor is running below to show what the graphs should approximately look like. I tried screencasting just the relevant portion of my screen, but Istanbul's area recording isn't working at the moment, so you get the entire desktop instead. ** Attachment added: Video demonstrating reproduction of bug http://launchpadlibrarian.net/9471176/g-s-m%20graph%20bug.ogg -- Moving the mouse cursor over the gnome-system-monitor temporarily causes network and disk usage to become zero https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/102921 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug assignee. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs

[Bug 144318] Context menus showing configuration options of panels should be improved to avoid a user to suppress an applet by mistake
Public bug reported: (NB : This bug is basically a GNOME one, but as Ubuntu decided to place the trash can on the panel, this bug is more present in Ubuntu) To empty the Trash can, i can right-click on the trash-icon of the panel and select empty the trash can but i can also suppress the icon from the panel in the same move ! If i want to mute the system volume i can right-click on the loudspeaker-icon of the panel but i can also suppress the icon from the panel in the same move ! etc. Quite dangerous : i can imagine the disapointement of the user who doesn't know how to repair its mistake... The same matter occurs if i want to eject an audio CD, i can right-click on the icon on the desktop and select eject but i can also change the icon size. The matter is that in the same move (right-clicking an icon) you can choose an action (eject the CD, mute the VOLUME, empty the TRASH CAN) as well as a configuration option (change THE ICON size, suppress THE ICON from the panel). Action concerns the object (CD, volume, trash can) whereas configuration options concern the icon that represents the object. We can imagine different ways to improve the situation : I - Concerning specifically the panel, if the icon is locked on the panel, the suppress icon from the panel should appear in grey (not active) II - An entry in SystemPreferences menu should allow to configure theses options III - Configuration options should appear in a sub menu : Here is an exemple with the trash can applet context menu : 1. Open 2. Empty 3. Configuration options 3a. Suppress the icon from the panel 3b. Move the icon 3c. Lock on the panel IV - ... As far as i'm concerned, I prefer # IV : that idea can apply to all situations (panel icons and desktop icons) and solve the problem (configuration options are not directly accessible anymore and therefore there is less risk for a bad manipulation. Also the presentation of the options is more logic with a clear separation between actions configuration options) without having to tweak options of each icons on the panel. Thanks for having read this message in spite of my bad english ** Affects: gnome-panel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Context menus showing configuration options of panels should be improved to avoid a user to suppress an applet by mistake https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/144318 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Desktop Bugs, which is a bug contact for gnome-panel in ubuntu. -- desktop-bugs mailing list desktop-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/desktop-bugs
