Right, the description of those matches the one of nautilus network

activating /apps/nautilus/desktop/volumes_visible in gconf-editor makes

[Bug 150443] Compiz in Gutsy Beta: No workspace switching with mousewheel

2007-10-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: compiz

In metacity (and in other window managers) you can switch virtual
desktops/workspaces by hovering your mouse pointer over the workspace-
switcher and rolling the mousewheel up and down.

Compiz breaks this, and forces users of multiple workspaces to use the
keyboard shortcut.

Why are we shipping this incomplete window manager by default in Gutsy,
anyway?

[Bug 150060] Re: Gnome Panel Doesn't Look Right

2007-10-08 Thread Gert Kulyk
For me (I'm not sure, if Tyler would agree), it is the panel looking
different (that is the part right of the arrow drawn by Tyler on the
screenshot). While i assume the 1 px line is theme-specific (a shadow-
like effect or something like this), it vanishes sometimes. I can
reproduce this by changing from clearlooks (has the 1px shadow) to
glider (flat panel) and back again (you need to open menu and config-
dialogs on the right places, otherwise the panel will be only partly
shaded).

[Bug 150443] Re: Compiz in Gutsy Beta: No workspace switching with mousewheel

2007-10-08 Thread Danny Baumann
The workspace switcher applet of the gnome-panel (gnome-
panel/applet/wncklet/workspace-switcher.c, function applet_scroll)
should use the viewport functions instead of the workspace functions
when Compiz is used. As it already has support for Compiz, this has
obviously just slipped through.

BTW, Metacity forces you to use keyboard shortcuts to move windows to other
workspaces - why would anyone consider such an incomplete window manager by
default?

[Bug 150475] Unable to change mouse pointer in gnome-appearance-properties

2007-10-08 Thread barcc
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnome-control-center

When I try to change an existing theme (eg border or icons) a new theme is
created and I can use the SaveAs button to save it under a new name, but if I
only change the mouse pointer no theme is created and the SaveAs button is
deactivated.
When I try to change icons and mouse pointer, not the selected pointer or the
original theme pointer is stored in the theme. The stored pointer is the one i
had when starting gnome-appearance-properties.
The problem seem to me specific to gutsy because a theme that I created under
feisty has the right pointer.
Another effect is: When I first change the pointer and then the icons, then the
pointer is changed with the icons (back to the pointer when starting

[Bug 141160] Re: When remote desktop access is disabled, vino-session will still run

2007-10-08 Thread Loïc Minier
There doesn't seem to be any easy change that we can do at this stage
without breaking GConf functionality (if we start vino-session from the
capplet, we lose the possibility of sharing the desktop by tweaking
GConf values from a SSH session for example). It's probably going to
fit closer to a GNOME component in the next cycle, so I'm unmilestoning
for gutsy-rc.

without a way to trigger it. Maybe somebody getting the issue should
send it upstream on bugzilla.gnome.org, the people writting the software

The problem here is that it is fully reproducible, but only on Ubuntu. I
even personally use Debian (Etch and Sid), and the problem does not show
while accessing the same server(s).
So this seems to be Ubuntu-specific.

That's really unlikely, the Ubuntu package has almost no change and not

[Bug 150489] Volume control jumps around with mousewheel

2007-10-08 Thread Eythian
Public bug reported:

If you use the mousewheel and quickly rotate it on the volume control
applet, the volume jumps up and down in an inconsistent fashion.
However, if you turn the wheel one click at a time, it changes in a more
regular fashion.

A bit of experimentation suggests that it's actually jumping down to
mute sometimes, and does it more the faster the mouse wheel turns.

[Bug 139748] Re: poor handling of eSATA drives

2007-10-08 Thread ericc
I can confirm this on 7.04 and 7.10beta (for scenario 2). My drive is in
a SATA caddy (SATA2 controller/AHCI). When pluuged, the event shows up
in hal (using 'lshal -m'), but it seems that gnome-volume-manager simply
ignores it. The drive is listed in fstab (based on UID) and if I type in
mount /media/backup, the drive gets mounted OK and the icon appears on
the desktop. I can then umount the drive using the right-click action.
In other words, only automatic mount step seems broken.

[Bug 67189] Re: smb password not being saved in gnome keyring

2007-10-08 Thread Loïc Minier
NB: My setup is a MacOSX sharing the home directories; I'm opening the
share with a smb://ip/share URL in nautilus' location entry dialog.

I tried the following:
1) Open //ip/share; default selection for remembering the password was to
forget it immediately; this worked with the password and worked subsequently
in the session, even after killing nautilus

2) New session and selected to remember the password forever, this failed and
prompted me for the password again; .xsession-errors had:

[Bug 148571] Changing hostname breaks X session

2007-10-08 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

This is mentioned in #103960, but is not the primary focus of that bug.

Changing the hostname via the gnome network admin tool asks the user if
they want to change the hostname immediately. If they do so, their X
session will be fairly broken because their X cookie is now invalid.

It should probably prompt the user to reboot to change the hostname, or
at the very least warn them that they should restart really very soon.

[Bug 147943] Re: [MASTER] broken initial stacking (was: compiz hides quick loading windows at login)

2007-10-08 Thread hexion
Hi there...

I don't know if this has been already addressed, but in case not, here
you've got some info:

It's already solved upstream:
http://smspillaz.wordpress.com/2007/10/05/compiz-fusion-community-news-edition-15-for-october-5th-2007-3d-fixed/

The desktop window is no longer set as fullscreen as this can cause
problems with panels

So, I think the changes should be backported (due to the upstream
freeze).

BTW, it has nothing to do with gnome-panel... just compiz.

[Bug 133567] Re: nautilus hangs on accessing vfat drives - statfs() blocks for a long time

2007-10-08 Thread Bogdan Butnaru
I know this is a bit complex to work-around, but we could hack Nautilus
to work around this whenever it encounters a VFAT volume.

If I understand correctly, Nautilus uses the statfs call to determine
the free space on the drive, to show it on the bottom of the window.

I would suggest that Nautilus start a new thread to call statfs; since
other programs can read the drive contents correctly, I suppose Nautilus
should be able to do the same. It would work as usually, minus whatever
the statfs call is needed for, until the separate thread finishes the
call.

I know this is complicated and probably not worth it, I just wanted to
have the suggestion.

Otherwise, I strongly advise to revert the patch with data-loss
possibility. The delay after mount is annoying, but it's less than a
minute long and it only happens at mount time, I think it's much less
annoying than loosing files and locking up randomly.

[Bug 22930] Re: Newly-sensitive button ignores clicks until cursor re-enters it

2007-10-08 Thread Bjorn T. Jonsson
We are many people who have been waiting for a solution to this bug and
others. More and more bugs are heaping up and lagging behind. Therefore
I made a new blueprint request, which is simply called fix-bugs. You
can find it here: https://blueprints.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+spec/fix-bugs

If you also think that the Ubuntu team should make bug fixing a
priority, please support my request.

The Ubuntu team could support the idea by tagging it with a high
priority and implementation milestone.

Thanks. :)
